3. Antiguidade - Egito
Tratado de cirurgia que contém a descrição
clínica detalhada de pelo menos 48 casos com
os respectivos tratamentos racionais e
prognósticos (favorável, incerto e desfavorável).
Importância para a neurociência: discussão do
encéfalo (o termo aparece pela primeira vez
neste documento), as meninges, o líquor, e a
medula espinhal.
Exceção - as concepções médico-filosóficas
giravam em torno do empirismo e do
sobrenatural.
4.
5. Antiguidade - outros
destaques
Pitágoras (580-510 a.C.), que admitia que no
encéfalo estava situada a mente, enquanto no
coração localizavam-se a alma e as sensações;
funcionais do encéfalo, considerando-o a sede
do intelecto e dos sentidos;
sensações (tese cefalocentrista);
concupiscência (apetite sexual);
alma;
Herófilo (335-280 a.C.), médico de Alexandria, que
efetuou grandes avanços anatômicos, estudando
7. Idade Média
Galeno (130-203)
posterior, o cerebellum. Galeno deduziu que o
cerebrum estava relacionado com as sensações,
sendo também um repositório da memória,
enquanto o cerebellum estava relacionado com o
controle dos músculos. Os nervos eram
condutos que levavam os líquidos vitais ou
humores, permitindo que as sensações fossem
registradas e os movimentos iniciados” (p. 180).
8. Galeno – desdobramentos
Quatro elementos inalteráveis: terra, ar, fogo e agua
humani corporis fabrica libri septem, dividida
em sete volumes.
10. Leonardo da Vinci
Recebeu permissão para
dissecar cadáveres humanos em
1510, no Hospital de Santa Maria
Nouva, em Florença. Elaborou
um trabalho teórico sobre a
anatomia, em que desenhou mais
de 200 figuras.
14. Séculos XVII A XVIII
diferentes porções do córtex.
16. Oposição ao localizacionismo: A
corrente holistica
 Fisiologista francês Marie-Jean-Pierre Flourens (1794-1867);
modo orquestrado, integrado.
Importante contribuição para a posterior compreensão da
plasticidade neuronal, capacidade de outras partes do
cérebro assumirem funções do tecido neural lesado.
17. A ciência não é
isenta de
interesses
- Thomas Malthus compreendia
que a miséria seria resolvida
com o controle populacional;
- Herbert Spencer frisava que
sobreviveria o mais capaz;
- Charles Darwin apontava a
sobrevivência submetida às leis
de seleção natural;
- Francis Galton exaltou a
importância da hereditariedade
para a determinação de uma
raça de homens bem dotados e
cuidadosamente selecionados,
cunhando o termo eugenia.
18. O Fracasso do
Localizacionismo
“Não se pode subestimar a importância da
frenologia sobre a psicopatologia, porque,
senão, seria impossível entender que as
primeiras localizações cerebrais das funções
intelectuais tenham estado ligadas aos
problemas da fala e da memória das
palavras. Em matéria de afasia, Broca e
Charcot confirmaram a descoberta de
Bouillaud, aluno de Gall, ou seja, a
localização da função da linguagem nos
lóbulos anteriores do cérebro.”
21. O Nascimento da
Neuropsicologia
O avanço da biologia e da fisiologia no século
XIX mostraram a impossibilidade de ignorar
as importantes ligações entre o sistema
nervoso central e os fenômenos mentais.
Necessidade de um “equilíbrio”: o
desenvolvimento de uma psicologia que
fosse coerente com as neurociências, sem
depender delas integralmente.
22. O Nascimento da
Neuropsicologia
neuropsicologia. Diante disso, a
neuropsicologia pode ser definida como um
ramo da ciência cujo objetivo específico e
peculiar é a investigação do papel de
sistemas cerebrais individuais em formas
complexas de atividade mental”.
23. Neuropsicologia:
Objetivo comum de estudar as modificações
comportamentais resultantes de lesão cerebral.
“Se alguém quer estudar os fundamentos
cerebrais da atividade psicológica, deve estar
preparado para estudar tanto o cérebro quanto
o sistema de atividade, tanto profundamente
quanto o permitir a ciência contemporânea.”
(Luria, 1992 p.176)
24. A Rede SARAH
A Rede SARAH de Hospitais de Reabilitação é
mantida pela Associação das Pioneiras Sociais
(APS), órgão instituído pela Lei nº 8.246/91, de
22 de outubro de 1991. Hoje é constituída por
nove unidades, localizadas em diversas
capitais brasileiras, que realizam mais de 19
milhões de procedimentos por ano. Tem por
meta devolver ao cidadão brasileiro os
impostos pagos por meio de atendimento
público de alta qualidade, com tecnologia de
ponta e humanismo, alcançando todos os
níveis da população.
25. Na execução de suas atividades,
são objetivos estratégicos:
Prestar assistência médica e de reabilitação,
de excelência e gratuita, nas áreas
neurológica e ortopédica;
Desenvolver programas de formação e
qualificação para estudantes e profissionais
de outras instituições e manter programas de
educação continuada para profissionais;
Exercer ação educacional na sociedade
visando prevenir a ocorrência das principais
doenças atendidas na Rede SARAH;
26.
27. Arte e reabilitação - Herbert
Vianna
28.
29. Hermano Vianna
Falo de dentro, sem distanciamento: hoje sou
conselheiro dessa instituição. É uma grande honra
poder contribuir para seu trabalho, garantia de
melhores condições de vida para muitos
brasileiros, e que inspira outras experiências de
medicina em vários outros países, tanto pobres
como ricos.
a cerebral. As opções eram radicalmente díspares.
fora do Brasil. Era importante para a melhora a
permanência perto da família. O tal médico de
Iowa terminava sua correspondência comigo
indicando o nome de uma das maiores
especialistas em reabilitação neuropsicológica do
mundo: Lúcia Willadino Braga, hoje presidente da
Rede Sarah.
Acompanhei a internação do Herbert no Sarah
Brasília. No andar onde ficam os pacientes com
lesão cerebral convivi com sofrimentos que não
imaginava suportáveis por nenhum ser humano,
31. ● Quando escrevo tratamento de excelência,
não estou pensando em luxo. Hoje, há uma
tendência no serviço hospitalar privado que
confunde qualidade com aparência de hotel
cinco estrelas.
naturais (...)

33. Segundo Engelhardt, Rozenthal e Laks (1995, p.112) a neuropsicologia
moderna começa com
Donald Olding Hebb (1904-1985), Karl Spencer Lashley (1890-1958) e
Aleksandr Romanovich Luria (1902-1977).
Luria e a teoria do sistema funcional complexo
gradualmente a sua função de modificar o estado de atividade cerebral);
armazenar informações, e inclui as regiões visuais (occipital), auditivas
(temporal) e sensorial geral (parietal) regula o estado do córtex cerebral,
atividade cerebral);

89. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun
and the smallest one in the entire Solar
System. This planet's name has nothing to
do with the liquid metal, since Mercury was
named after the Roman messenger god.
Despite being closer to the Sun than
Venus, its temperatures aren't as terribly
hot as that planet's. Its surface is quite
similar to that of Earth's Moon, which
means there are a lot of craters and plains
Speaking of craters, many of them were
named after artists or authors who made
significant contributions to their respective
fields. Mercury takes a little more than 58
days to complete its rotation, so try to
imagine how long days must be there!
Since the temperatures are so extreme,
albeit not as extreme as in Venus, and the
solar radiation is so high, Mercury has
been deemed to be non-habitable for
humans
