3. Mateus 16:24-28
O Então disse Jesus aos seus discípulos: Se alguém quiser
vir após mim, renuncie-se a si mesmo, tome sobre si a sua
cruz, e siga-me;
O Porque aquele que quiser salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á, e
quem perder a sua vida por amor de mim, achá-la-á.
O Pois que aproveita ao homem ganhar o mundo inteiro, se
perder a sua alma? Ou que dará o homem em recompensa
da sua alma?
O Porque o Filho do homem virá na glória de seu Pai, com
os seus anjos; e então dará a cada um segundo as suas
obras.
O Em verdade vos digo que alguns há, dos que aqui estão,
que não provarão a morte até que vejam vir o Filho do
homem no seu reino.”

4. Matthew 16:24-28
O Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would
come after me, let him deny himself and take up
his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would
save his life7 will lose it, but whoever loses his life
for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a
man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his
soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his
soul? 27 aFor the Son of Man is going to come
with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then
he will repay each person according to what he
has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some
standing here who will not taste death until they
see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

no segundo imperativo.

8. Deny yourself:
O This is much more radical than simply
denying certain appetites or impulses.
It’s the rejection of a life based on self-
interest and self-fulfillment.
O It’s denying control of your life;
even denying the impulse for self-
preservation, a fact which becomes clearer in
the second imperative.

9. O "negar" a ti mesmo significa dizer
"não" a ti mesmo e "Sim" a Deus
O Nós não estamos falar sobre o ascetismo
- renunciar posses terrenas, não comer
certos alimentos, ignorar o mundo, etc
O Para dizê-lo de outra forma, o processo de
negação é "submeter humildemente a minha
vontade a Deus."
 É repetirmos as palavras que Jesus disse
na noite antes de morrer.
“Não a Minha vontade mas a Tua seja feita.”

10. The "deny" yourself is to say "no"
to yourself and "Yes" to God
O We're not talking about asceticism -
renounce worldly possessions, not eating
certain foods, ignore the world, etc.
O To put it another way, the process of denial is
"humbly submit my will to God."
 It is to go through life repeating the words
that Jesus said the night before He died.
“Not my will but yours be done.”

11. O negarmos a nós mesmos, a
fim de seguir a Cristo é:
ONegarmo-nos a nós mesmos
totalmente, completamente;
ONão fazer nada, simplesmente para o
auto-prazer, mas somente com a
finalidade de ou glorificar o nosso

12. To deny ourselves in order to
follow Christ is :
Oto deny ourselves utterly, completely;
Oto not do anything simply for self-
pleasure, but only for the purpose of
either glorifying our God in heaven, or
edifying our brothers and sisters in the
Lord.

these and similar questions:
O Why am I doing this particular task?
O What is my heart attitude?
O Am I doing this as a service to others and
to God or simply because I want to do it?

16. Truly denying oneself begins in the
heart and it takes conscious effort
O We need to be constantly "taking every
thought captive to the obedience of
Christ." (2 Cor. 10:5); and to have the
attitude "which was also in Christ
Jesus" (Phil. 2:5) being holy as He is holy
(1 Peter 1:16).

23. Vamos começar com o que
Jesus não quis dizer
O Muitas pessoas interpretam "cruz", como
alguns fardos que têm que carregar na sua
vida:
O uma relação tensa,
O uma tarefa ingrata,
O uma doença física.
O Com orgulho de auto-piedade, dizem: "Essa é a
minha cruz, eu tenho que a carregar."
O Tal interpretação não é o que Jesus quis dizer

24. Let’s begin with what Jesus
didn’t mean
O Many people interpret “cross” as some
burden they must carry in their lives:
O a strained relationship,
O a thankless job,
O a physical illness.
O With self-pitying pride, they say, “That’s my cross I
have to carry.”
O Such an interpretation is not what Jesus meant
when He said, “Take up your cross and follow
Me.”

Golgotha to be crucified, no one
was thinking of the cross as
symbolic of a burden to carry.

Jesus never hid that cost.

pareciam dispostas a seguir
Jesus

34. In Luke 9:57-62, three people
seemed willing to follow Jesus
O When Jesus questioned them further, their
commitment was half-hearted at best.
O They failed to count the cost of following
Him.
O None was willing to take up his cross and
crucify upon it his own interests.

36. If you wonder if you are ready to take
up your cross, consider these
questions:
O • Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing
some of your closest friends?
O • Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means
alienation from your family?
O • Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means the loss
of your reputation?
O • Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing
your job?
O • Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing
your life?

37. O Seguir Jesus não significa
necessariamente que todas essas coisas
te vão acontecer, mas estás disposto a
tomar a tua cruz?
O Se chegares um ponto na tua vida em
que te deparas com uma escolha: Jesus
ou os confortos da vida, o que vais
escolher?

38. O Following Jesus doesn’t necessarily mean
all these things will happen to you, but are
you willing to take up your cross?
O If there comes a point in your life where
you are faced with a choice—Jesus or
the comforts of this life—which will you
choose?

39. Só se voluntariamente tomares a
tua cruz é que podes ser chamado
Seu discípulo (Lucas 14:27)
O A recompensa vale o preço.
O Jesus seguiu a Sua chamada de morte
para o ‘Eu’ ("Toma a tua cruz e segue-

40. Only if you willingly take up your
cross may you be called His
disciple (Luke 14:27)
O The reward is worth the price.
O Jesus followed His call of death to self
(“Take up your cross and follow Me”) with
the gift of life in Christ: “For whoever
wants to save his life will lose it, but
whoever loses his life for me will find
it”

43. Em Mateus 10:34-39, Jesus disse
claramente o que significa segui-Lo.
Ele disse que,
O "Não cuideis que vim trazer a paz à terra; não vim trazer paz,
mas espada;
O Porque eu vim pôr em dissensão o homem contra seu pai, e a
filha contra sua mãe, e a nora contra sua sogra;
O E assim os inimigos do homem serão os seus familiares.
O Quem ama o pai ou a mãe mais do que a mim não é digno de
mim; e quem ama o filho ou a filha mais do que a mim não é
digno de mim.
O E quem não toma a sua cruz, e não segue após mim, não é
digno de mim.
O Quem achar a sua vida perdê-la-á; e quem perder a sua vida,
por amor de mim, achá-la-á."

44. In Matthew 10:34–39, Jesus stated
clearly what it means to follow Him.
He said,
O "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the
earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I
have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter
against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-
in-law—a man’s enemies will be the members of his own
household.’ Anyone who loves their father or mother more
than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son
or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever
does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy
of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever
loses their life for my sake will find it."

45. Jesus nunca suavizou a verdade, e
é a verdade que, segui-Lo leva a
escolhas difíceis
O Realmente seguir Cristo significa que Ele
se tornou tudo para nós. Todos seguem
uma coisa: amigos, cultura popular,
família, desejos egoístas ou Deus.
O Nós só podemos seguir uma coisa de
cada vez (Mat. 6:24). "Ninguém pode
servir a dois senhores, porque ou há de
odiar a um e amar o outro, ou se dedicará
a um e desprezará o outro. Não podeis
servir a Deus e ao dinheiro ".

46. Jesus never softened the truth,
and the truth is that following
Him leads to difficult choices
O To truly follow Christ means He has
become everything to us. Everyone
follows something: friends, popular
culture, family, selfish desires, or God.
O We can only follow one thing at a time
(Mat. 6:24). “No one can serve two
masters, for either he will hate the one
and love the other, or he will be devoted to
the one and despise the other. You cannot
serve God and money.”

47. Para realmente seguir a Cristo
significa que não se segue
qualquer outra coisa
O Jesus disse em Lucas 9:23: "Quem
quiser ser Meu discípulo deve negar-
se, tome a sua cruz e seguir-Me."

48. To truly follow Christ means
we do not follow anything else
O Jesus said in Luke 9:23, "Whoever wants
to be my disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross daily and follow
me."

49. Não existe tal coisa como um
"meio discípulo "
O Como os discípulos demonstraram,
ninguém pode seguir a Cristo pela força da
sua própria força de vontade.
O Os fariseus eram bons exemplos de
pessoas que estavam a tentar obedecer a
Deus na sua própria força. O seu auto-
esforço levou apenas a arrogância e
distorção de todo o propósito da Lei de
Deus (Lucas 11:39, Mateus 23:24).

50. There is no such thing as a
"halfway disciple"
O As the disciples demonstrated, no one can
follow Christ by the strength of his own
willpower.
O The Pharisees were good examples of
those who were trying to obey God in their
own strength. Their self-effort led only to
arrogance and distortion of the whole
purpose of God's Law (Luke 11:39; Matthew
23:24).

51. Jesus deu aos discípulos o segredo
para seguí-Lo fielmente, mas eles
não o reconheceram na altura.
O Ele disse: "O Espírito dá vida, a carne não vale
nada" (João 6:63).
O E "É por isso que Eu vos disse que ninguém
pode vir a Mim se o Pai não lho permitir" (v. 65).
O Os discípulos tinham andado com Jesus 3 anos,
aprendendo, observando e participando de Seus
milagres. No entanto, mesmo eles não poderiam
segui-lo fielmente em sua própria força. Eles
precisavam de um Ajudador !!!

52. Jesus gave His disciples the secret
to faithfully following Him, but
they did not recognize it at the
time.
O He said, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for
nothing” (John 6:63).
O And "This is why I told you that no one can come
to me unless the Father has enabled them”
(verse 65).
O The disciples had walked with Jesus for 3 years,
learning, observing, and participating in His
miracles. Yet, even they could not follow Him
faithfully in their own strength. They needed a
Helper!!!

53. Jesus prometeu muitas vezes que, uma
vez que ele ascendesse para o Pai,
enviariar-lhes-ia um “Ajudador", o
Espírito Santo (João 14:26, 15:26).
O Na verdade, Ele disse--lhes que era para o seu
bem que Ele fôsse embora, para que o Espírito
Santo podésse vir (João 16:7).
O O Espírito Santo habita no coração de cada crente
(Gál. 2:20;. Rom 8:16;. Heb 13:05; Mat 28:20).
O Jesus advertiu os Seus seguidores que não iriam
começar a testemunhar d’Ele "até que sejais
revestidos do poder do alto" (Luc. 24:49, Atos 1:4).
Quando o Espírito Santo veio sobre aqueles
primeiros crentes no dia de Pentecostes, de
repente, tinham todo o poder que precisava para
seguir Cristo, até à morte, se necessário (Atos 2:1-
4; 4:31; 7:59-60).

54. Jesus promised many times that, once
He had ascended to the Father, He
would send a "Helper" to them—the
Holy Spirit (John 14:26; 15:26).
O In fact, He told them that it was for their good that
He was going away so that the Holy Spirit could
come (John 16:7).
O The Holy Spirit indwells the heart of every believer
(Gal. 2:20; Rom. 8:16; Heb. 13:5; Mat. 28:20).
O Jesus warned His followers that they were not to
begin testifying of Him "until you have been clothed
with power from on high" (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4).
When the Holy Spirit came upon those first
believers at Pentecost, they suddenly had all the
power they needed to follow Christ, even to the
death, if needed (Acts 2:1–4; 4:31; 7:59-60).

55. Seguir Jesus significa esforçarmo-
nos para ser como Ele.
O Ele sempre obedeceu ao Seu Pai, então é isso
que nós nos esforçamos para fazer (João 8:29;
15:10).
“And He who sent me is with me. He has
not left me alone, for I always do the things
that are pleasing to Him.”
“If you keep my commandments, you will
abide in my love, just as I have kept my
Father’s commandments and abide in His
love.”

56. Following Jesus means striving
to be like Him
O He always obeyed His Father, so that's
what we strive to do (John 8:29; 15:10).
“And He who sent me is with me. He has
not left me alone, for I always do the things
that are pleasing to Him.”
“If you keep my commandments, you will
abide in my love, just as I have kept my
Father’s commandments and abide in His
love.”

57. Para realmente seguir Cristo
significa fazer-Lo o Chefe
O Isso é o que significa fazer de Jesus o Senhor
de nossas vidas (Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor.12:3; 2
Cor. 4:5).
O Cada decisão e sonho são filtrados através da
Sua Palavra, com o objetivo de glorificá-Lo em
tudo (1 Cor. 10:31).
“Portanto, quer comais quer bebais, ou
façais outra qualquer coisa, fazei tudo para
glória de Deus.”
“Porque não nos pregamos a nós mesmos,
mas a Cristo Jesus, o Senhor; e nós
mesmos somos vossos servos por amor
de Jesus.”

58. To truly follow Christ means to
make Him the Boss
O That's what it means to make Jesus Lord of
our lives (Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor.12:3; 2 Cor. 4:5).
O Every decision and dream is filtered through
His Word with the goal of glorifying Him in
everything (1 Cor. 10:31).
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever
you do, do all to the glory of God.”
“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but
Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as
your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

59. Realmente seguir Cristo significa
aprender a obedecer-Lhe
O Em última análise, qual é o ponto de ter
um professor especialista, se a pessoa
não faz o que diz o professor?
O Nós não seguimos Jesus para ir,
ocasionalmente, quando estamos com
dor, pedir-Lhe conselhos mas por confiar
n’Ele como a fonte da sabedoria da Qual
queremos aprender.

60. To truly follow Christ means
learning to obey Him
O Ultimately, what is the point of having an
expert teacher if one does not do what the
teacher says?
O We do not follow Jesus by occasionally
going to Him for advice when we’re in pain
but by trusting Him as the source of
wisdom from which we wish to learn.

61. Mat.7:24-27
O “Todo aquele, pois, que escuta estas minhas
palavras, e as pratica, assemelhá-lo-ei ao homem
prudente, que edificou a sua casa sobre a rocha;
O E desceu a chuva, e correram rios, e assopraram
ventos, e combateram aquela casa, e não caiu,
porque estava edificada sobre a rocha.
O E aquele que ouve estas minhas palavras, e não as
cumpre, compará-lo-ei ao homem insensato, que
edificou a sua casa sobre a areia;
O E desceu a chuva, e correram rios, e assopraram
ventos, e combateram aquela casa, e caiu, e foi
grande a sua queda.”

62. Mat.7:24-27
O “Therefore everyone who hears these words of
mine and puts them into practice is like a wise
man who built his house on the rock. The rain
came down, the streams rose, and the winds
blew and beat against that house; yet it did not
fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

and does not put them into practice is like a
foolish man who built his house on sand. The
rain came down, the streams rose, and the

fell with a great crash.”

your real, present life with all
its responsibilities,
relationships, and roles as
Jesus would live it if it were
His

65. Seguir Jesus significa aplicar as
verdades que aprendemos com
a Sua Palavra e viver como se
Jesus caminhasse ao nosso
lado em pessoa.

66. To follow Jesus means we apply
the truths we learn from His
Word and live as if Jesus
walked beside us in person.

67. O último passo é tomar uma
decisão
O Nós decidimos seguir Jesus.
O Nós as nossas vidas aprendizes com Ele.
O Comprometemo-nos a ouvi-Lo, a
obedecer-Lhe, e permitimos que Ele
molde a nossa vida.
Ninguém segue Jesus perfeitamente.
Mas com o tempo, o discípulo,
começa a refletir a influência do seu
Mestre

68. The final step is making a
decision
O We decide to follow Jesus.
O We apprentice our lives with Him.
O We commit to listening to Him, to obeying
Him, and to allowing Him to shape our
lives.
No one follows Jesus perfectly.
But over time, the disciple begins to
reflect His master’s influence
