9. Mapeamento de Habitats
Brown et al. (2011)
Marine habitat mapping has recently been defined as “Plotting
the distribution and extent of habitats to create a map with complete
coverage of the seabed showing distinct boundaries separating
adjacent habitats” (MESH, 2008a). In this context, the term “habitat” is
defined as “both the physical and environmental conditions that
support a particular biological community together with community
itself” (MESH, 2008a) and the term is therefore used synonymously
with “biotope”. This definition makes the assumption that in order to
represent biological patterns spatially we must impose distinct
boundaries between adjacent (and therefore discrete) habitat types.
10. Mapeamento de Habitats
Benthoscape - “The minimum
mapping unit (grain) at which distinctive bio-
physical characteristics
can be identified and objectively delineated based
on continuous,
remotely sensed environmental data sets from a
study area”.
Brown et al. (2012)
11. Mapa de Habitats
Mapa de Habitat Bentônico- representação
espacial de áreas fisicamente distintas.
Os mapas devem ilustrar a natureza, distribuição e
extensão dos ambientes físicos.
Preferencialmente, prevendo a ocorrência de
comunidades associadas.
Greene, 1999
Harris and Baker, 2012
12. Mapeamento Habitat Potencial
Mapeamento de Habitats deve integrar informações
de parâmetros geológicos e biológicos

18. Surrogates ou Substitutos são variáveis biofísicas
que podem ser mapeadas e usadas como
correspondentes a ocorrência de espécies ou
comunidades bentônicas.

Para que serve?
1- Suporte para tomadas de decisão,
planejamento e manejo.
2- Suporte para a definição de AMP
3- Pesquisa científica para entender a relação do
ecossistema bentônico e a geologia
