3. Simple Past
O Simple Past é usado para indicar ações
concluídas em um tempo definido no passado.
Ex. He watched the last episode from that serie.
I talked to her.
I did the lesson.
4. Simple Past
Frequentemente, é empregado com advérbios
de tempo como:
Ex. I was in New York last month.
She bought a new book yesterday.
He remembered my birthday last week.
5. Simple Past
O passado simples pode indicar também
hábitos ou situações que aconteceram no
passado. Nessa situação, é mais comum o
emprego da expressão used to.
Ex. I used to travel a lot with my parents when I
was young.
6. Simple Past
Forma Afirmativa
Os verbos em Língua Inglesa dividem-se em
Regulares e Irregulares. A diferença entre esses
tipos é evidenciada na forma afirmativa
Verbos Regulares: para formar o passado,
acrescenta-se o sufixo ED ao infinitivo do verbo.
Ex. I danced all night long.
7. Simple Past
Se o verbo terminar em E, acrescenta-se apenas o D:
Ex. I loved the music.
Se o verbo terminar em Y, troca-se o Y por IED:
Ex. She studied a lot for the test.
Se o verbo possuir uma só sílaba ou terminar em
sílaba tônica, formada por consoante-vogla-
consoante, dobra-se a última consoante e
acrescenta-se ED:
Ex. John stopped at the traffic light.

1. Verbos terminados em p – k – s – ch – sh – f –
x têm o som ED com a pronúncia de /t/.
Look – looked
Miss – missed
Stop – stopped
Work – worked
Touch – touched
Push – pushed
Stuff – stuffed

v – g – w – y – z e terminados em ditongos têm o
som de ED com a pronúncia de /d/
Call – called
Live – lived

Buzz – buzzed

End – ended

11. Simple Past
Verbos Irregulares: não seguem as regras gerais de
formação do passado simples, possuindo uma forma
própria de estrutura.
Ex. To buy – comprar
I bought a new cookbook yesterday.
to eat – comer
They ate pizza last night.
12. Simple Past
Forma negativa:
Usamos o auxiliar “Did not” ou “Didn´t” junto ao
verbo no infinitivo para construirmos a forma negativa
do Simple Past.
Ex. I didn´t buy that book.
She didn´t study for the test.
13. Simple Past
Forma Interrogativa
Usamos o auxiliar “Did” antes do sujeito. O verbo na
forma interrogativa volta para a forma de infinitivo sem
“to”.
Ex. Did you buy that new cookbook?
Did you visit the art exhibition in downtown?
14. Past Continuous / Progressive
É usado para se referir a uma ação que estava
em andamento em um determinado tempo no
passado.
Ex. I was sleeping when you phoned yesterday.
They were taking a course last semester.
15. Past Continuous / Progressive
Forma Afirmativa
To be (was / were) + verbo “ing”
Ex. I was doing my homework in the morning.
16. Past Continuous / Progressive
Forma Negativa
To be (was / were) + not + verbo “ing”
Ex. I was not doing my homework in the
morning.
I wasn´t doing that.
17. Past Continuous / Progressive
Forma Interrogativa
To be (was / were) + sujeito + verbo “ing”
Ex. Were you doing your homework in the
morning?
