Notas do Editor
Talk about your journey – how you get to Germany - England / get a job / grant / evaluate your job – impact factor -
At the begging you were directed to this, after you develop your sense. The journal that fits better – Reputation, not only the impact factor
The expectation where they should be !!! More independent - @ the beginning the PI would help more – undergrad same results for six months. You must very convinced. You must be sure of what you write
Depende da área, da pós graduação,
Mudanca: Time to change? – find a niche where you can be recognized – That’s hard: The PI story and then your story – Talk about a little bit about finding their niche – Patricia you could talk a little bit more on your own experience , when did you find your niche.
PI: in London very nice – other could ask you to change your study - Germany: Was more like a collaboration - You were looking for your own niche, to make you different – to complete your studies, you found what you want to follow. Recommend personally to get fellowship to spend time abroad and learn other ways – have the courage to live abroad – I don’t recommend t spend your life in one lab – go to another lab and experience it
Money – infrastructure – language is a barrier, Brasil could write better – cultural aspect: Etiquette with editor, important to follow the rules. Living abroad you thought they were more enlighten, but no – it was basically about the infraestructure
The rule of librarians - as agents for authorship – all work in harmony to help you – technicians librarians – Portal Capes – everyone can access to the resources – great example of Patricia asking people in Brazil to send you the PDF – This works very well
Make the disclaimer : your ideas could be stolen – start collaboration – sui generis your own story of stolen work, in other markets it will be stolen immediately - story from Stamford
If the exoeriment is very easy, is very easy to steal
In your case you didn’t know at the beginning, it took a while to figure it out – To risk a little and be ambitious – don’t stay in the safe side – it makes a big impact in the career. Advice the services for translations they work good
Cover letters, look for examples, how to summarize results, deal with criticism from reviewers – NOT TO TAKE PERSONALLY
like
We don’t do it a lot – opportunity to find collaborations, comments of your paper, contact people – going to international conferences
Take the opportunity to apply for anything …. Because it passes by, you have to think on the next project – and restart
