Abstract
Three powers competed for conquering Kurdufan. They were Fur,
Funj and Musabbaat. In this conflict, Fur aimed at regaining their old
tutelage in Kurdufan and destroying Musabbaat's strength which
started to sprout there. Funj aimed at making use of Kurdufan's
resources and exploiting its experiences, at the time, Musabbaat were
planning to outstretch on this region and launch to fulfill their
ambitions of re-ruling Darfur, and overthrowing their Kaira cousins
there. Everyone of them could reach at its goal for some extent; Fur
returned to rule Kurdufan for some time, while Funj was able to
exploit the region's resources throughout their existence there
especially in the southern region. Musabbaat exploited times of Fur's
and Funj’s weakness, started to fix their feet in Kurdufan and threaten
their cousins, Kaira in Darfur. Kurdufan's voidance of efficient
political system became the reason of the competition, in addition to
the variety political essences in Sudan. It was the major reason of this
conflict, which finished after the rise of the two unifying rules; the
Turkish and Mahdism.
