This document outlines the five stages of executive hiring: 1) Planning, 2) Working with Candidates, 3) Referencing Process, 4) Compensation Offer, and 5) Offer. It provides tips for each stage, such as developing a prioritized hiring list, taking control of the candidate process, conducting a "mini board meeting" for candidates to present their strategy, doing a 360 degree reference check process, addressing compensation expectations, and making the final offer only when confident it will be accepted. The overall goal is to eliminate surprises after the new executive is hired.
Vital churches offer a mix of contemporary and traditional worship services. Hello. My name is Tim Nolan. I head up BBH Labs and serve as the Interactive Group Creative Director at BBH New York. I have proudly served the Internet since 1996. I created this book along with my partner in crime, Jen Lu, a Creative Mutant currently working at Droga 5. We would like to thank Bernstein & Andriulli for granting us access to their amazing roster of talented illustrators and designers to make this endeavor come to life. This book is meant to be used as a point of inspiration through its words and images. It is also, by design, meant to be a fun piece of interactive media to enjoy. There is a lesson tucked away in that last sentence.
Cops, Class and Race: A Marxist PerspectiveJason Metter
This document discusses the relationship between police, class, and race from a Marxist perspective. It argues that the police were created by the ruling class not to prevent crime but to control the working class and protect capitalist interests. Racism serves to divide and weaken the working class. Reforms will not address the root causes of oppression which are baked into the capitalist system. Ultimately, the document calls for revolution to dismantle capitalism and the racist, classist institutions that uphold it, including the police.
8 Foundations For A Successful Major CampaignBloomerang
This document outlines eight foundations for a successful major fundraising campaign: 1) strong staff and board leadership committed to philanthropy, 2) an effective strategic plan that drives the campaign, 3) successful institutional programs, 4) financial strength, 5) annual fundraising success to identify prospects, 6) appropriate technology and donor management systems, 7) a strong case statement for support, and 8) effective engagement of prospective donors through cultivation, communications, and identification of a robust donor pool. The presentation was given by Jeff Jowdy of Lighthouse Counsel to provide best practices for nonprofit organizations conducting major campaigns.
Scott Porter, VP, Methods, and Aliza Pollack, VP Qualitative, led a session at the Planningness 2015 unconference. Scott works in marketing analytics, and regularly uses Artificial Intelligence algorithms to sort through large quantities of data to find plausible causal models for the interrelation of drivers, outcomes, and intermediate or mediating variables.
In facilitating discussions between marketers and modelers, Scott has realized that the process of gearing up to work with AI can help us think better. Computer algorithms have the advantage when sorting through large amounts of data, but they have their limitations. With current technology, artificial intelligence has to sort through the data it is given--it generally can’t intuit missing data that would be important. However, as humans, we excel at this sort of intuition. Or, at least we can... we have to overcome our human tendency to stop when we've uncovered the first plausible answer.
We shared a structured approach to brainstorming that forces us to push wider to additional context that might be important. These exercises (looking for multiple causes, looking for side effects, looking for missing causes) are the steps we would need to go through in order to select the right data for a computer to have sufficient information to build a quantified model. However, the steps are useful regardless of whether or not we later quantify the model, because the techniques help us push beyond where we would normally stop because we found a single reasonable explanation.
After going through an overview of the theory and the process, we put it into practice. We took turns leading small groups in structured hypotheses sessions to systematically unpack potential complexities of real client challenges shared by members of the session, and brainstorm what information we (or algorithms) will need to better understand potential opportunities.

This PowerPoint deck is part of a collection. PowerPoint can accommodate many different communication styles. Each deck in this collection models a different style. Some models focus on visual display, others strictly on organizing information.
This collection is inspired by Exercises In Style, the classic book by Raymond Queneau. In Exercise In Style, Queneau retells the same very simple story 99 times in 99 different styles.
This deck uses the "Placemat" style, intended to be printed out and used as a resource during an in-person conversation.
- The presentation discusses how craft traditions of customization, self-reliance, and manual production can inform contemporary design practices dominated by digital tools and mass production.
- It proposes connecting crafters to consumers through active information channels to update habits and better provide handmade goods.
- Crafts have influenced modern design with simple, uncluttered aesthetics sometimes borrowing from styles and other times standing apart from guidelines. Crafts are often uniquely produced by individuals rather than large groups.

Mobile Health Services-a breakthrough model for serving rural populationsSwati Piramal
Piramal Swasthya is an innovative approach started in Rajasthan to improve rural healthcare delivery in India. It uses cost-effective technology and trains local women as community health workers to provide basic healthcare services in remote areas. The community health workers are given medical kits and mobile phones to collect diagnostic information from villagers and share it with central call centers for validation by doctors. Prescriptions are then shared back with patients. This model has expanded to 7 states and has served over 43 million people to date, helping address availability, accessibility and affordability of healthcare in rural India.
