O documento descreve a proclamação da independência de Israel em 14 de maio de 1948 pelo primeiro-ministro David Ben-Gurion na casa de Dizengoff em Tel Aviv. Após 2000 anos de exílio, o povo judeu finalmente tinha seu próprio estado soberano. Ben-Gurion declarou oficialmente o nascimento do Estado de Israel às 16h37.

Horas antes do final do Mandato Britânico sobre a Palestina, no nº 6 da Avenida Rothschild, que antes pertencera ao Presidente da Câmara de Telaviv – a casa de Dizengoff – , (agora um Museu), David Ben Gurion proclama a Independência do Estado de Israel. Hours before the end of the British Mandate over Palestine, at number 6 of Rothschild Avenue, which previously belonged to the president of the chamber of Tel Aviv - the home of Dizengoff - (now a museum), David Ben Gurion proclaimed the independence of the State of Israel.

Após 2000 anos de exílio o povo Judeu podia voltar a existir como nação independente. À hora prevista, David Ben Gurion ergue-se. Espontaneamente, canta-se a Hatikvah (O Hino Nacional hebraico). Being a Friday, the ceremony started at four o`clock p.m. in order to finish before sunrise for the celebration of the Jewish Shabbat. After 2000 years of exile the Jewish people could come back into existence as an independent country. At the previewed time, David Ben Gurion stands up.
