Este documento descreve o uso dos pronomes indefinidos "some", "any", "no" e seus derivados em frases afirmativas, interrogativas e negativas. "Some" é usado apenas em frases afirmativas, enquanto "any" é usado em frases interrogativas e negativas. "No" é usado em frases negativas sem palavras negativas.

2. Orações Afirmativas Some : algum(ns) , alguma(as) Somebody: alguém Someone: alguém Something: alguma coisa Somewhere : algum lugar

3. Somente em orações afirmativas I know some good pubs . There is something strange here . Somebody is knocking on the door.

4. Exceção Some e seus derivados podem ser usados em orações interrogativas quando for oferecimento, convite ou sugestão, presumindo resposta afirmativa:

5. Exemplos: Would you like some Tea? - yes, please. Can you bring me something to eat, please? - yes, I can.

7. Orações Interrogativas Is there any problem with you? Is there anybody home? Is there anywhere free? Do you have anything against me?

8. Orações negativas - Any: nenhum, nenhuma Anybody: ninguém Anyone: ninguém Anything: nada Anywhere: nenhum lugar

9. Orações negativas I don’t need any help. There was not anyone to help. I can’t tell you anything about him.

10. Exceções Any e seus derivados podem ser usado em frases afimativas nas seguinte situações:

11. Aparecer após a palavra if. Ex.: If you have any questions, ask me. Quando significar qualquer ou quaisquer. Ex.: Take any book you need. Com palavras de sentido negativo. (seldom, never, rarely, without, etc) Ex.: He left without any money.

12. Orações negativas No: nenhum, nenhuma No one: ninguém Nobody: ninguém Nothing: nada Nowhere: nenhum lugar

13. Not – never – without - rarely Em orações negativas sem o uso de palavras negativas. O verbo tem que estar na forma afirmativa, mas o pronome é negativo.

14. Exemplos This team have no chance . This team don’t have any chance. I saw nobody I didn’t see anybody

15. Did you see anybody special in that party? No, nobody. No, I din’t see anybody I liked nothing here. I didn’t like anything here.
