of Porto Alegre, far from the city center for
the standards of the time. By the end of the

porém, com apelo popular. É fácil identificá-lo.
Mas difícil copiá-lo. Na internet, não param de
surgir novos textos falsamente atribuídos a ele.
A maioria, de qualidade duvidosa. No entanto,
Melhorei
muito. Estou até aqui falando com você”, diz,
abusando de seu humor característico. Lucia,
ao contrário, tem sempre uma história para
contar a quem chega à casa da família. Esta,
segundo o escritor, é a fórmula da união dura-
doura. “Somos opostos, talvez por isso tenha
dado certo o casamento. Eu estava vivendo no
Rio e fomos morar juntos. Casamos em 1964. E
até agora parece que vai dar certo."
Os amigos e parceiros também parecem não
se incomodar com seus longos silêncios. “Qual-
quer coisa com Verissimo é agradável. Já fizemos
inúmeras viagens juntos e não tem companhia
melhor.

formula of lasting union. “We’re opposites, maybe

And so far it seems like it’s going to work.”

In addition to short stories and chronicles, he is also
the author of novels, novellas, cartoons and comic
strips. One of his most famous comic strips was As
Cobras (“The Snakes”), which he decided to stop
publishing several years ago. “I thought it was a bit
inappropriate for a 70-year-old man to be drawing
little snakes”
