2. A letra E numa palavra, quando não tem
acento, não é pronunciada. (The letter E in a
word, when it has no accent, is not
pronounced.)
A letras A e O no fim da palavra ou sozinhas
sem acento, leem-se de forma mais fechada.
(The letters A and O at the end of the word or
alone without an accent, are read more closely.
O som das letras B e V é muito semelhante.
(The sound of the letters B and V is very
similar.)
3. A letra R tem um som forte quando a letra
começa a palavra e quando há dois R no neio
da palavra. (The letter R has a strong sound
when the letter begins the word and when
there are two R's in the middle of the word.)
Quando a letra R surge sozinha no meio da
palavra, o som é mais suave. (When the letter
R appears alone in the middle of the word, the
sound is softer.)
4. O som “s” acontece se a letra S iniciar a
palavra ou se tiver dois S no meio da palavra.
Porém, também temos som “s” quando a letra
C é seguida das letras E ou I, e quando o C
leva cedilha (Ç). (The “s” sound happens if the
letter S starts the word or if there are two S in
the middle of the word. However, we also have
an “s” sound when the letter C is followed by
the letters E or I, and when the C has a little
leg (Ç).)
O som “z” acontece se a palavra tiver a letra Z
ou se a letra S ficar sozinha no meio de duas
vogais. (The sound “z” happens if the word has
the letter Z or if the letter S is alone in the
middle of two vowels.)
5. O som “j” acontece quando a palavra tem a
letra J ou a letra G seguida das letras E ou I.
(The sound “j” happens when the word has the
letter J or the letter G followed by the letters
E or I.)
Se a letra G for seguida das vogais A, O, U, a
pronúncia é “g”. (If the letter G is followed by the
vowels A, O, U, the pronunciation is “g”.)
O “n” junto com “h” faz o som “nhe”. (The “n”
together with “h” makes the sound “nhe”.)
6. A letra “q” é sempre seguida da vogal “u”. O
“u” é pronunciado se depois vem a letra “a”.
(The letter “q” is always followed by the vowel
“u”.The “u” is pronounced after the letter “a”.)
O ”u” não é pronuciado com as outras vogais.
(The "u" is not pronounced with the other
vowels.)
7. O som “xe” acontece com a letra “x”, a
associação “ch” ou quando o “s” é antecedido
de vogal. (The sound “xe” happens with the
letter “x”, the association “ch” or when the “s”
is preceded by a vowel.)
8. A letra “l” associada à letra “h” forma o som
“lhe”.
(The letter “l” associated with the letter “h”
forms the sound “lhe”.)

consoantes formam novos sons.
