1. Teen reading challenge
Our school library invites all students to create a book trailer for our Teen Reading Challenge.
Pick a book from the library, read it and envision it as a short video, one that will capture the interest
of your audience. Create your own book trailer by reviewing the book.
Be creative! The contest is open to all students at Escola Secundária de Santa Maria Maior.
HowtoEnter
Ask your English teacher to register your name for the challenge.
Send your book trailer along with your name, age and contact information to
be.essmm@gmail.com between January 4, 2016 and February 12, 2016.
The school library will provide training sessions on how to make a booktrailer.
Judges
The top three winning booktrailers will be chosen by the school librarian, one teacher of the library
staff and an English teacher. Prizes will be awarded to winning booktrailers.
Rules
One entry per contestant or group of contestants (groups must not exceed 3 students).
Include the school library in your trailer in some way. Be sure to let the audience know that
the book you are promoting can be found in the library.
Book trailers may not be longer than four minutes in length.
Winners will be announced the last week in February 2016.
The school library staff may disqualify any entry based on inappropriate content or
production.
All videos must be original work, directed, filmed and edited by the students. You may use
the book cover in your video. You may use pictures or music/sounds you created or the ones
that are in the public domain and appropriately documented. You may also use music that
comes with a movie-making program such as iMovie, Photo Story or Windows Live Movie
Maker. Please include credits in the end where you identify the sources of all pictures and
music/sounds.
