2. Main Objectives for the 2012 - 2014 term
In addition to being nominated by SEPE as a candidate WITSA
Director I hereby present to you my nomination as a Vice
Chairman for EU and EEA.
If elected as Vice Chairman for EU and EEA I would work
towards the following objectives:
•Retain the current WITSA members base, extending it to
recruit new members
•Increase WITSA’s leading advocacy role at the European level
in close collaboration with other industry bodies

• Promote ICT industry cooperation around the region and
internationally
• Improve WITSA's brand, image and reputation around the
region
• Implement WITSA’s strategic objectives with the help of
members and our Secretary General, Vice President and
Secretariat staff
• Empower the organization to effectively carry out work that
members expect.

4. Biography
Yannis Sirros is the Director General of SEPE - the
Federation of Hellenic Information Technology &
Communications Enterprises - since September 2001.
He holds a Master of Arts in Management from the
University of Hertfordshire, UK in 2002 and a Master
of Science in Information Systems from the University of East
Anglia, UK in 1996.
Preceding his present position, he has held positions as an
Information Technology Advisor at many key Ministries, including
the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Interior and Public
Administration, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health
and Welfare and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

He was also a member of the organising committee,
responsible for drawing up the Operational Programme for the
Information Society in Greece, an EU - funded project within
the framework of the 3rd Community Support framework
(CSF) as well as participated, as an IT specialist, in the
evaluation of proposals within the EU 5th RTD Framework
Programme. Yannis has started of his career 20 years ago at
the Greek office of Control Data Inc.
Yannis has been a member of the Board of Directors of
WITSA since 2002 and a Member of the Task Force of the
European Information Technology Observatory (EITO) since
2012.
