9. FaithfulnessFaithfulness
• is claimed by many but found in
only a few
– “Most men will proclaim each his own
goodness, But who can find a faithful
man?” (Prov. 20:6, NKJV)
10. FaithfulnessFaithfulness
• can easily vanish from men
– “1
Help, LORD, for the godly man ceases!
For the faithful disappear from among the
sons of men. 2
They speak idly everyone
with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a
double heart they speak. 3
May the LORD
cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that
speaks proud things” (Ps. 12:1-3, NKJV)
11. FaithfulnessFaithfulness
• is a quality to be found in our
relationships
– with God
– with our family
– with our fellow man/brethren
– all aspects of our lives

14. • Scripture says, "(Jesus) was faithful to him that
appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all
his house"
Heb. 3:2
• In what way was their faithfulness measured?
• How were they – Jesus & Moses- truly faithful
in all things?
15. They were counted faithful becauseThey were counted faithful because
• They never doubted the heavenly Father's word to them.
• They knew that what God said He would do, He would indeed fulfill.
You see, faithfulness is simply believing that God will keep His
Word.
• In this sense, Jesus and Moses "held the beginning of (their)
confidence steadfast unto the end" (Hebrews 3:14).
• They didn't have an up-and-down, hot-and-cold, here-today-and-gone-
tomorrow kind of faith. Their faith never wavered to the end!
• And just as Jesus was faithful in His confidence in the Father,
our faithfulness will measured by the same standard: "But
Christ as a son over his own house, whose house are we, if
we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm
unto the end" Heb. 3:6

• describes one’s unwavering commitment

DOES IT DESCRIBE YOU?
29. take 3 things to heart:take 3 things to heart:
• I. Don't Listen to the Lies of the Devil
We must remind ourselves daily, "I have an enemy who is
out to destroy me. He is a liar, a deceiver and a seducer."
Jesus said, "The devil... was a murderer from the
beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his
own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44).
30. • Satan doesn't waste his time lying to sinners; they're
already captive, held prisoner by his deception. No,
Satan lies to those believers whose hearts are set on
the Lord. He plants lies in the minds of the true
seekers, God's holy ones. In fact, we can narrow this
down even further:
Satan Uses His Most Subtle,
Convincing Lies Against Those
Who Are Determined To Enter
God's Provided Rest!
31. • II. Examine Yourself - See If You
Have Been Guilty of the Sin of
Unbelief
"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God"
Heb. 3:12
This is addressed not to the sinner - but to believers.
He's saying, "You - partakers of the heavenly calling.
Take heed, beware, watch out. Make sure you don't
have an evil heart of unbelief!"
32. • The author of Hebrew ties it all together:
1) an evil heart of unbelief,
2) hardening of the heart,
3) departing from God.
Here is how the process of hardening occurs: First you
allow Satan to lie to you. Second, a seed of unbelief is
planted. Then your hardness causes all kinds of
disruptions: dryness, emptiness, a reliance on feelings
and emotions. Eventually, you end up departing from
God in your heart.
33. • III. Be Fully Persuaded That Your
High Priest Is Touched by All Your
Hurts - and That You Have Full
Access to His Throne!
34. Hebrews 4:14-16Hebrews 4:14-16
• "Seeing then that we have a great high priest,
that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the
Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an high priest which cannot
be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;
but was in all points tempted like as we are,
yet was without sin. Let us therefore come
boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of
need"
35. • We have been invited into the throne room of
the Potentate of the universe: "Neither is
there any creature that is not manifest in his
sight: but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of him with whom we have to
do" (Hebrews 4:13).
• He knows what you have been through, what
you are going through now and what you face
ahead. And He is waiting for you to come
boldly to Him!
36. • You see, He Himself has experienced all that
we are going through, at all points. And He is
sympathetic, loving, full of mercy and anxious
to help in our time of need. You don't have to
explain anything to Him. You can just kneel
before Him and say boldly, "Jesus, You know
what I'm going through. I can't put it into words.
But You've; been here, too - so please help
me!"
37. • Is this your time of need? Do you know
He is available at any time? You don't
have to say, "I've got to go home and
get in my secret closet to enter God's
throne room." No, the throne is
available to you anytime and anywhere.
And God invites you to come boldly and
without reservation, with full confidence
that He will answer - that He will always
keep His Word!
38. • Yet we are not to bring the abomination
of unbelief into His presence. Instead,
we are to "convince ourselves" and be
"fully persuaded." "But ye, beloved,
building up yourselves on your most
holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost"
(Jude 20).
39. • Saints, we live by promises, not by what we
see. And if we are to be faithful to God, we
cannot sit around nursing our doubts.
Instead, encourage yourself daily in the
Lord, dealing with all unbelief, saying,
"Lord, I'll not put up with it!" Reject the
devil's lies, and build up your faith upon
God's Word. Then you will be able to say in
all your trials, "I will rejoice, because I have
a place to go in my time of need."
Notas do Editor
Today we begin the third trio: faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Of the three trios, this one has the most to do with our relationship to God and his word.
pis’-tis
UNRIGHTEOUSNESS – anything that is not fitting is unrighteous, likewise, there is nothing right in faithlessness. WHISPERERS – are secret slanders and detractors. They are as faithless as they come but you cannot often detect it at first, seeing that they only slander your name in a private setting where you are always absent. HATERS OF GOD – The infidel is a God-hater. You either love God and are faithful to him, or you hate him. Jesus defined the one who loves God as the one who is faithful to keep his commandments (Jn. 14:15) DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS – You cannot hardly think that if children do not learn fidelity to their own parents, that they will not also hate God. We hear of or have know some who are defiant to their parents’ laws, sneaking out of their house at night, going to parties all the way up to murderers of parents, something that even occurred in the first-century (1 Tim. 1:9) Many young people who do not learn submission and respect to their parents end up dead: Pr 30:17 “The eye that mocks his father, And scorns obedience to his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.” UNTRUSTWORTHY – It is almost better just to look at what other versions of this passage translate it.
GWV (God’s Word To the Nations) BBE (Bible in Basic English) ESV (English Standard Version) A. T. Robertson commented “men ‘false to their engagements’ (Sanday and Headlam), who treat covenants as ‘a scrap of paper’” David reflects on Ahithophel in Psalm 55 and mourns his infidelity and devious ways. . . 20 My best friend has betrayed his friends. He has broken his solemn promise. 21 His speech is smoother than butter, but there is war in his heart. His words are more soothing than oil, but they are like swords ready to attack (Prov. 55:20, 21; GWV)
WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN: Matthew 25:21 – “"His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” SMALL THINGS: Luke 16:10-12
DISCIPLINE/ADMONISHMENT 1 Timothy 5:1, 2 1 ¶ Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, younger as sisters, with all purity.
RE: Prov. 25:19 – “ It is not only deceitful, but hurtful, as a broken tooth though it make show of helping, yet is not only unhelpful to a man for chewing his meat, but also troublesome and painful; and as a foot out of joint doth not help, but hinder and pain, him that attempts to walk upon it.” (Matthew Poole) Eph. 5:21, “submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
IN THE TRAINING : Also rendered “discipline” (NASB) AND ADMONITION : The parent is charged to chasten and instruct. Some only believe in “instructing” but that is based on man’s foolish and obstinate ways against the wisdom of God. God in His wisdom sees the chastening as a means to prepare the child for receiving the instruction. What a duty is placed on parents. Parents do not do well to let children decide whether they will go to services or not. I haven’t met any parents who allow their child’s choice to rule when it comes to making their room, going to school, brushing their teeth, etc. Neither should their choice to stay home overrule that of the parents. A child is not always mature enough to make up his own mind and that is why for the first 18 or so years he is placed under the leadership and protection of a father and mother. Ps 78:5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; Pr 22:6 ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Wives bad mouthing their husbands either in front of them, near them or away from them is not funny, is not right and violates the bar that God has raised for woman. It is not laughable, it is sin. Putting your husband down will do nothing good for him or your marriage. Likewise, women who are reverent to other men, but disrespectful to their husband will feed his apatite of bitterness, hatred and jealousy. If you find yourself constantly criticizing your husband’s choices (an I am not saying that some of his decision need not be criticized) just remember it was his choice that chose you! Were you worth that choice? Are you a helpmeet or “help beat”? Yet it is woman who can also bring out the fullest potential of any man. She is one who can with a word lift him up right when the world has knocked him down. She can give him courage in fearful situations. She is often the one who is most responsible for any real success that he may find. Examples of Reverence: 1 Kings 1:31, Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and paid homage to the king, and said, "Let my lord King David live forever!"
It is obvious that a husband needs to “love his wife.” Women need love and men need respect. If you are indifferent to your wife, if you rarely show affection to her, you are asking for future problems in your marriage. God built the woman and knows how she is and plainly sets forth here to man one of the critical functions of his marriage to her – to love her as himself. Placing your own desires above hers is asking for problems! If you believe in an arrogant lie that your marriage will last forever “just” because you both are Christians, you are believing a fool’s lie. A marriage lasts when both people actively work to fulfill the needs of the other and not in the simple sentiment that “Well, we are both Christians!” Don’t get me wrong, I am not undermining the wisdom of marrying a Christian. I am simply stating that we can deceive ourselves into thinking there is some insurmountable wall protecting our marriage which really isn’t there. That wall is only imaginary until both behave to each other the way Christ would have them. If the husband doesn’t show his wife “love,” another man from the outside will work his way in and try to show her what her husband is not!
1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful , who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 2 Thess. 3:3, “ But the Lord is faithful , who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” 1 Thess. 5:23 ¶ Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful , who also will do it 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
