Maluda was a Portuguese painter born in 1934 in Goa who focused on synthesizing urban landscapes, particularly of Lisbon. She lived and began her painting career in Maputo before studying in Paris from 1964-1967 as a Gulbenkian Foundation scholar. Maluda developed a unique style characterized by vibrant color palettes and mastery of light. She continued painting until her death in 1999, leaving a significant contribution to Portuguese art in the 20th century.
