2. George Tice - Biografia
• George Tice nasceu em 1938 em Newark, New Jersey, onde vive atualmente;
• Em 1959 vendeu a sua primeira foto ao Museu da Arte Moderna em Nova York. O sucesso
cresceu quando ganhou uma bolsa de estudo do Guggenheim Foundation e do National
Endowment for the Arts. A partir daqui várias exposições das suas fotografias surgiram em vários
museus em todo o mundo;
• Os seus primeiros flashes foram na região da Pensilvânia. Um fotografo autodidata começou por
fotografar comunidades rurais;
• Em 1969, Tice foi incluído no grupo de abertura do espectáculo Witkin Gallery;
• Para além das exposições, Tice publicou cerca de 18 livros: Fields of Peace: A Pennsylvania
German Album(1970), Paterson, New Jersey (1972), Seacoast Maine: People and
Places (1973), Urban Landscapes: A New Jersey Portrait (1975), and Hometowns: An American
Pilgrimage (1988);
• Tice é considerado o mestre da fotografia a preto e branco;
