• ICDE has a very good/good standing among members
in all categories.
• Many members in all categories want to engage more.
• ICDE has room for improvements/changes to work on.
• Almost all members would very likely, quite likely or
likely recommend ICDE to another colleague.
• ICDE is consolidated and has a good point of departure
for expansion for the benefit of learners and the
educational community all over the world.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
FOR ICDE 2017-2020
• 1. To promote quality digital, open and
flexible education.
• 2. To nurture leadership and good
governance.
• 3. To develop cooperation, collaboration and
networking among members through
enhanced services.
• 4. To build ICDE membership.
Specific 1 - Promote
1.1. Contribute to a successful UNESCO initiative
for quality enhancement and have specific
achievements in ICDEs own work on quality through
the establishment of a quality network.
1.2. A vibrant and well-functioning ICDE Global
Doctoral Consortium by 2020, to be midterm
evaluated by 2018.
1.3. ICDE to contribute to successful development
of Open: OER, Open Access, Open Education and
Open Science
Specific 2 - Leadership
• 2.1. First leadership summit for policies for
visionary leadership for digital transformation
in May 2017.
• 2.2. Stepping stones for leadership for digital
transformation to be facilitated by 2018.
• 2.3. A leadership scheme to be facilitated by
2019.
Specific 3 - Collaborate
• 3.1.A variety of internationalisation activities and
services relevant for members stepwise established,
both virtual and onsite based.
• 3.2.Continue to develop biannual World Conferences
and facilitate a variety of International conferences,
local and special focused events. Consider change the
annual Presidents’ Summits to a leadership summit
organised at the same place every year.
• 3.3.Facilitate collaboration on application for grants,
fundraising and sponsoring of joint activities.
Specific 4 -
Membership
• 4.1. Renew ICDE membership structure, fees and
organization by end 2018 for being a better
global facilitator for inclusive, , flexible, lifelong
learning and teaching in the digital age.
• 4.2. Review the needs for digital tools and
services to support the new strategic plan by end
2017 and invest and implement by 2018.
• 4.3. Better branding of ICDE by end 2018.
• 4.4. ICDE promotion and representation in all
regions and xx countries by end 2018.

Main conclusions • ICDE has a very good/good standing among members in all categories. • Many members in all categories want to engage more. • ICDE has room for improvements/changes to work on. • Almost all members would very likely, quite likely or likely recommend ICDE to another colleague. • ICDE is consolidated and has a good point of departure for expansion for the benefit of learners and the educational community all over the world.

  • 10. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES FOR ICDE 2017-2020 • 1. To promote quality digital, open and flexible education. • 2. To nurture leadership and good governance. • 3. To develop cooperation, collaboration and networking among members through enhanced services. • 4. To build ICDE membership.
  • 11. Specific 1 - Promote 1.1. Contribute to a successful UNESCO initiative for quality enhancement and have specific achievements in ICDEs own work on quality through the establishment of a quality network. 1.2. A vibrant and well-functioning ICDE Global Doctoral Consortium by 2020, to be midterm evaluated by 2018. 1.3. ICDE to contribute to successful development of Open: OER, Open Access, Open Education and Open Science
  • 12. Specific 2 - Leadership • 2.1. First leadership summit for policies for visionary leadership for digital transformation in May 2017. • 2.2. Stepping stones for leadership for digital transformation to be facilitated by 2018. • 2.3. A leadership scheme to be facilitated by 2019.
  • 13. Specific 3 - Collaborate • 3.1.A variety of internationalisation activities and services relevant for members stepwise established, both virtual and onsite based. • 3.2.Continue to develop biannual World Conferences and facilitate a variety of International conferences, local and special focused events. Consider change the annual Presidents’ Summits to a leadership summit organised at the same place every year. • 3.3.Facilitate collaboration on application for grants, fundraising and sponsoring of joint activities.
  • 14. Specific 4 - Membership • 4.1. Renew ICDE membership structure, fees and organization by end 2018 for being a better global facilitator for inclusive, , flexible, lifelong learning and teaching in the digital age. • 4.2. Review the needs for digital tools and services to support the new strategic plan by end 2017 and invest and implement by 2018. • 4.3. Better branding of ICDE by end 2018. • 4.4. ICDE promotion and representation in all regions and xx countries by end 2018.

  1. Never before has the world been up to such recognised, big challenges – and never before have the opportunities for building a sustainable future beneficial for all been better. When we look at higher education – enrolment globally has doubled since 2000 – and shall more than double towards 2030. In this part of the world the numbers should be even bigger. The elearning market is this year stipulated to more the 165 billion USD – and expected grow to amazing 255 billion USD in 2017 – it is booming. How can we ensure that this future educational market – for students will be the fair, accessible, affordable inclusive, equitable and offer the quality education we want? Having AI and robots in mind, How can we ensure that the future development in education it is the interest of humanity, the interest of people, in the interest of education as a public good – in the interest of human? For education the situation is that while our leaders have agreed in ambitious goals, SDG Education 2030, the first status shows we are far from achieving them. So, we have got a framework for joint actions – now we need to se the issues are understood, the directions are right and a number of sound actions can create that educational revolutions we need – for the sustainable future we want.
