Flowers
What is a flower for? It produces seeds for the next generation
of plants. Some use insects to transfer pollen from one flower to
another. The flower smell, color, nectar or pollen attracts the insect.
While a bee collects nectar, which it needs for honey, pollen from the
male part of the flower sticks to it. The bee carries the pollen to the
female part of another flower and fertilization takes place, ensuring
there will be seeds for new plants. Some plants don't use insects to
carry pollen. lnstead, the wind carries it to fertilize other flowers.
