   It is used when we are talking the pas and want to talk an earlier
    past. It is also used in reported speech.
   The Pattern

      Subject + had + Verb-3 + Object/Compliment + before Subject
                                + Verb 2



     After + Subject + had + Verb-3 + Object/Compliment, Subject +
                                 Verb 2

   Example:
    He had finished his assignment before the deadline.
 We  use this tense to give a reason for something
 in the past where the reason is of a repeated or
 continuing nature.

       Subject + had + been + Verb-ing + Object/Compliment +
                          duration of time
