2. Only One The video that I am analysing is called Only One and it is performed by Yellowcard. The song was released in 2005 on the album Ocean Avenue. The genre of the song is alternative rock, this has change from there early music to fit more mainstream.
3. Relationship between lyrics and visuals The lyrics describes a man losing his one love by choice. The visuals show a man and a women in a riot looking like they cannot be separated, even though the video is set in a protest. There are police and tanks, but the lyrics say he lost her and how he broke up with her dishonestly leaving a note.
4. Relationship between music and visuals In the video the music does cut to the time of the beat. The song is a fast paste song and the scenes (except the performance-based section) are slowed down. When the chorus appears the music does fit to the visuals as the cuts become more frequent due to the recognisable drum beats.
5. The band in the video The previous videos like Lights and Sounds and Light Up The Sky the focus of the video has been on the band and no narrative whatsoever. In this video it is slightly different as there is more concept based, but the record company are still trying to promote the bands image because they use the bands lead singer as the main character for their narrative, also they use the rest of the band as characters as well.
6. What type of music video is this one ? This music video is shows a mixture of narrative and performance. The performance based scenes are used mainly during the chorus, which is very common in a video of this genre. The narrative based scenes contradicts with the lyrics therefore the narrative is hard to follow. The lyrics show a man losing his true love by choice. The visuals show a man finds love no matter what obstacles lie in front of him.
