Wing lam digital storyboard
1. 1 Welcome
Greetings everyone!
I’m Wing
Lam, Professor of
Technology
Leadership
This is my digital story
2. 2 Identity
I am comfortable being
labeled a
global, nomadic citizen
My roots are in Hong
Kong but I was
formally educated in
the UK and worked in
Europe. However, I
migrated back to the
East and have lived in
Singapore since 2001
3. 3 Education
I graduated in 1994
with a PhD in
Computer Science
from Kings College,
University of London
in the UK
I am and will always
consider myself a
student!

4. 3 Work Experience
I have previously held
consultancy positions
with Accenture, Logica-
CMG and Fujitsu (ICL),
assisting various
clients with business
technology solutions
Bridging the gap
between technology
and business is one of
the biggest challenges

5. 4 Academic
Career
Ultimately I found the
classroom a more
appealing place than
the boardroom, so in
2001, I committed
myself to academia
but retained industry
connections through
consulting, research
and executive
education projects

6. 5 Academic
Experience
As well as U21Global, I
have held teaching

University, the two
major universities here
in Singapore

7. 6 Teaching
I enjoy teaching a
range of subjects
especially those
related to IT
management, strategy
and leadership
I believe learning is
achieved when
students do more work
than the teacher!

8. 7 Research
Interests
Broadly speaking, I’m
interested in how
organisations can use
information
technology to increase
their competitiveness
I think Google is
perhaps one of the
best examples of that

Architecture and
Integration’ published

11. 10 Most
Admired
Bill Gates gets my vote
as most admired
business leader
His depth of
technology, vision, bu
siness and leadership
skills is remarkable.
His philanthropic
efforts makes him
stand out

12. 11 Favourite
Website
At the moment, it has to
be Google Maps with
Street-view
I found what the house I
lived in 30 years ago
looks like today –
here’s the picture!
13. 12 Home
At present, home is
beautiful Singapore
Aside from the
convenience afforded
by a modern city-
state, I like the diverse
eclectic mix of
cultures which
includes
Chinese, Malay, Indian
and European http://www.flickr.com/photos/adforce1/2520179177/sizes/o/
14. 13 Food
I am not crazy about
food but I do like crab
and Masala tea
Chilli crab is a local
delicacy in
Singapore, although I
prefer creamy butter
crab – a must try if you
don’t mind getting your
hands messy and a
definite no-no for http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh67/parisbeaverbanks/food/crab2.jpg
15. 14 Exercise
I believe in sound mind
and sound body
In my youth, I played
football and table
tennis. Later in life, I
developed an interest in
running and swimming.
I stopped running after
some knee
problems, but now am a
regular at the gym 3
times a week http://www.tamug.edu/pe/facilities/weight%20room%201.jpg
16. 15 Travel
When I have the
opportunity, I enjoy
short trips within Asia
to places like
Malaysia, Thailand, Ca
mbodia and Hong
Kong
Here I am in Angkor
Wat, Cambodia, which
is famous for its
temples
17. 16 Family
I am blessed with one
adorable son, Conrad
Lam, born in
December 2008, who
takes up most of my
free time
Having children is a
gift that truly enriches
one life
18. 17 End
That’s enough about
me!
I look forward to
hearing from you in
the class
