tourism around the world for the benefit of
all the parties involved in it”.
4. Spatial Tourism
Planning
• In this planning ,the space as well as the
environment of the tourist spot is scrutinized
for creating good quality infrastructure and
quantities at that spot.
• For ex:-Corbett National Park (Uttaranchal)
5. Sectoral Tourism
Planning
• In this type of planning , the region to be
developed is divided into various broad
sections , called Sectors.
• These sectors are allocated resources.
• Their social , economic and environmental
needs are assessed.
• The natural resources of each sector must be
preserved and protected.
6. • These sectors must also coordinate with
one another to achieve tourism synergy.
• For ex:- South - east Asia is a popular
tourism sector of the World.
7. INTEGRATED TOURISM
PLANNING
• In the type of tourism planning ,the sectors
or parts of a tourists region are integrated so
that the region becomes a hot destination.
• For ex:-Tourist sports of Mount Titlis,
Lucern, Geneva and other parts of
Switzerland are integrated.
• These have been developed to provide
packages to tourists so that they could visit
all these spots when they visit the Swiss Alps.
8. COMPLEX TOURISM
PLANNING
• When several regions are considered for the
purpose of planning , it is called Complex Tourism
Planning.
• These regions may be located far away from one
another
• These have to be developed on a comprehensive
basis because the international tourist may be
keen to visit all the tourist spots located in these
regions.
9. Centralized Tourism
Planning
• This type of planning is done by a single
authority, usually the state or central
government.
• For ex:-Renovation of the Red Fort for
exposing more areas of its premises to
tourists.
10. Decentralized Tourism
Planning
The parties ,who are keen to develop a tourist spot,
plan the execution of the activities of that spot.
They take the assistance of the government as well as
finance from the local , regional or national banks to
do so.
Government gives support and money to such firms.
For ex:-The first private airport of India has been
developed at Nedumbassary (Tamil Nadu)
11. Tourism Planning At
Three Levels
• State-Level Tourism Planning
• Regional –Level Tourism Planning
• National – Level Tourism Planning
12. State –Level Planning
• The state government of all the states as well as
the administrations of 7 union territories of India
are responsible for developing tourism resources
of their respective states or UT’s
• For ex:-State highway are maintained by the states.
• Lakes and ponds are cleaned or disinfected and
dams are built by state govt in collaboration with
union govt.
13. Regional – Level Tourism
Planning
• Such types of tourism planning are undertaken
by 2 or 3 states
• For ex:-Roads ,highways, rail links, air strips,
artificial lakes, water , electricity, sewerage and
other parts of vital infrastructure are created in
collaboration with the union govt.
14. National –Level Tourism
Planning
• Planning is done by the union Govt and its
organs.
• Large amounts of money are needed to plan
and execute such projects.
15. •For ex:- :- The golden Quadrilateral
scheme of the union govt plans to provide a
network of national highways that would
connect northern, southern , eastern and
western parts of the counters by the
metallic roads.
