Mao Zedong and Gender Equality
When Mao Zedong, also translated as Mao Tse tung and by the people, referred to as Chairman Mao,
came to power in 1949[1], Mao s policy of Marxism was pleasing to the Chinese Communism Party,
however it was contradictory to the instruction of Confucianism. Mao s work towards liberation and
his struggle against Confucius innate social system changed the way that China s freedom hungry
women were seen through the eyes of traditional Confucius followers in society. The downsizing of
the weak economy and ineffective government system often envelopes an entire country s dynamic;
though the economic side is naturally distorted, often the cultural and societal behavior follow close
behind. While Confucius taught of structured places in society for every person, peasant and
aristocrats[2], Mao tried to take steps towards liberty for all just as other countries around him had
strongly exemplified. Confucius made women out to be such horrible creatures, only good for
cooking, cleaning, and bearing children as some societies then believed however, Mao tried to
increase the female population s freedom and equality in society in comparison to that of men. Mao s
policy of Marxism was vastly different than Confucian teachings in that it supported women more and
disregarded the class system. Although women in Mao s China did not achieve full political
participation, in his policies, he aimed to overturn the Confucian social hierarchy and give woman
equal opportunities in education and

Aristotle s Poetic In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Aristotle was a famous disciple of Plato who first defines fine arts and he differs with his teacher Plato
in his book of Poetic. His Poetic deals with the principles of Poetic art in general and tragedy in
particular on the basis of his analysis and the principles of his Poetic are Probability, Catharsis,
Mimesis, Tragic Hero and Hamartia. This essay will explain tragedy looking through Aristotle s tragic
principles in the book Things fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. In Aristotle s Poetic, he has mentioned the
concept of Probability which simply explains the probability that a given character will react to a

shocking. The tragic hero neither can be a bad man nor a villain. According to Aristotle, The tragic
hero is a man who is not eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is bought about not by voice,
but by the some error of judgement (Aristotle, 1978). The misfortune of such a man will lead to
downfall. In Things fall Apart, the main protagonist Okonkwo is considered as tragic hero and he has

Examples Of Classical Job Shop Scheduling Problem
1. Introduction The classical job shop scheduling problem (JSP) is one of the major issues in
production planning that each operation is performed by the machine for finding completion time.
Machine is fixed and known in advance. The sequencing of all jobs is assigned on all machines. This
problem is developed method to find the answer more effective and widely. The flexible job shop
scheduling problem (FJSP) extended from the classical job shop scheduling problem (JSP) that each
operation can be processed by any machine from a set of available machines at that time and effect to
flexible in the machine selection for more efficiency in the usage of the machine and without the delay
of waiting for production. Generally, the FJSP can be separated two sub problem; 1) a routing sub

Assassination Of Franz Ferdinand Research Paper
The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand was a turning point in European history. This is because it was
one of the main events that eventually led to the start of World War I.
Franz Ferdinand was the Austrian archduke of Austria whose assassination in 1914 is generally
considered to have begun World War I. He lived most of his life as a wealthy nobleman before
becoming involved in the politics of the Austro Hungarian Empire, eventually cause the disfavor of
the Serbian nationalists who killed him.
In Central Europe, the Austro Hungarian Empire held many of the smaller territories of the area under
its political control. Austria Hungary was pleased with the arrangement but its outlying territories

Abstract
Nowadays, the world is suffering from various crises like ebola to polar vortex but the problem of
global warming and extinction of various resources are persistent from decades. The evolution of
these problems is due to excessive usage or dependence of humans on the Non renewable sources of
energy like fossil fuels. Time and again, many scientists have worked hard to utilize the renewable
sources of energy like solar energy, but less energy efficiency and other factors forced humans ...

Finally, these energy sources have very negative affect on the environment when they are mined or
consumed. (Tim Clifford, 2008)
Importance of Non renewable Energy Sources
Before discussing about the disadvantages of non renewable sources of energy let s look on some
important uses of them. According to Richards (as cited in Fossil Fuels, 2004), fossil fuels are the
most common fuels used from a long time since they were discovered. Everything that involves
transportation is utilizing fossils fuels in some or the other way. Coal, the other most common form of
non renewable energy source is used to produce electricity. Moreover coal is also used to refine
metals. Natural gas, which is the result of decomposing plants and animals, is mainly used in home for
cooking. Nuclear fuels also come under non renewable sources but they are cleanest of all of them.
They are used when large amount of energy has to be extracted.
Coal, oil and natural gas, which come under natural resources, took millions of years to form.
Therefore, it is impossible to replace them once we consume them. The main energy sources used by
humans are non renewable; renewable resources, such as solar, tidal, wind, and geothermal power,
have so far been less exploited.
Fossil fuels are the most important components of non renewable sources of energy energy. They
generate a very appreciable amount of

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Scramble For Africa
In the 1880s the scramble for Africa began. The scramble for Africa was when European countries
occupied, colonized, and divided Africa during the period of new imperialism. In the beginning
imperialism in Africa seemed beneficial but then opinions changes. As imperialism spread many
began to view imperialism differently than before, while some saw only the benefits of imperialism
other saw the disastrous aftermath. In the past imperialism in Africa was viewed as both beneficial and
harmful because of the disadvantages of imperialism, the benefits of imperialism, and the effects that
imperialism had on the Africans.
Although there were benefits of African imperialism, there were also disadvantages for the nations.
When writing about African imperialism a British scholar, J.A. Hobson, said that during the period of
imperialism there were many wars that were caused by Europeans attacking people who they
considered to be lower races (Document 1). The lower races were at a disadvantage because the
Africans did not have the same modern weaponry that the Europeans did, which was one of the
military causes of new imperialism. Another example is an excerpt from Balance Sheets of
Imperialism which points out that, In fact, her expenditures on colonies for that time was 6,856
million lire (Document 8). This is an example of a disadvantage because even though there was
money being made in the colonies, the countries still had to pay for things like live costs and wars

Religion Is A System Of Belief
JAINISM RELIGION
Religion is a system of belief in spiritual beings and practices observed by a group of people,
institutions, churches, codes related to sacred things (Horton, 1960). The world has numerous
religions with different set of beliefs and perspective. Majority of these religions are centuries old and
have a wide following in different parts of the world depending on their origin. Jainism is one of these
oldest religions in the world that have survived to date with a huge following in Asia especially in the
Indian subcontinent (Roy, 1984). The religion has undergone numerous transformations with the most
recent based on the influence of the western religion and colonization in the southern Asia region
where it was mainly practiced. With Jainism being in the Dharmic family of Religions, it is known
that the Jainism religion is focus on the believing that we are reincarnated over and over again,
making not just progress in each life, but proceeding with making each life more perfect and never
going backwards, until once reaching that form of perfection. In which, in Jainism is known as,
Siddha . Jains believe in making progress, through much effort to learn and mature throughout their
lifetimes. Regarding in having an extremely high tolerance for learning, their libraries are known to

Kurtz s Affect on Other Characters in Heart of Darkness ...
We are always taught to appreciate the little things in life; the things that don t seem to have much of
significance at first but end up meaning the world to us. These small things have a value so great but
so hidden that they are usually taken a granted for. In The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, there
are a few characters that aren t present in the book for a large amount of time but have a great affect
on the story. Kurtz is one of these characters. Kurtz is introduced towards the end of the story but he
has an affect on the action, the theme and the other characters development even when he isn t present.

Darkness is a major theme in The Heart of Darkness. Kurtz is unaware of his own darkness which
leads to his downfall. He cannot see what kind of person he has become and how the darkness of the
jungle has completely taken over him. The jungle is so secluded and mysterious that it actually
influences Kurtz s bad behavior. Kurtz becomes greedy and powerful but never realizes that this
behavior is bringing him down until he is on the verge of death. Kurtz last words, The horror! The
horror! (63) show Kurtz s realization that the darkness had consumed him. Kurtz himself is one of the
biggest examples of darkness in this book. The final thing Kurtz had an affect on was the other
characters development; specifically Marlow s. Marlow spent his journey on the Congo listening to so
many stories about Kurtz that he becomes obsessed with meeting him. At one point in the story,
Marlow finds out there is a possibility that Kurtz is dead and he admits that, For the moment that was
the dominant thought. There was a sense of extreme disappointment, as though I had found out I had
been striving after something altogether without a substance (41). When Marlow finally meets Kurtz
he is a little disappointed. He finds out that Kurtz actually isn t as amazing as he expected. Marlow is
thrown a back but doesn t give up complete hope. When Kurtz dies, and says his final words, Marlow

David Schön Model Of Reflective Practice
As important as methods may be, the most practical thing we can achieve in any kind of work is
insight into what is happening inside us as we do it. The more familiar we are with our inner terrain,
the more sure footed our [work] and living becomes. P. J. Palmer (cited in Skovholt, T. M., 2001).
The pursuit for self awareness or self understanding is a chief factor of valuable reflective practice.
Counsellors need not only to be conscious of their abilities, facts and presentation as professionals, but
also wary of any private aspects that may mess with or obstruct their capability to supply an efficient

Effects Of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic...
Effects of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic Performance and Classroom Social
Behaviors Pamela DeBraal pdebraal@yahoo.com Introduction For many children, kindergarten is the
first experience of being in an educational setting. The number of children in the United States who
attend either public kindergarten has increased dramatically within the last decade (Clemiinshaw
Guidubaldi, 1979). There has been a long standing debate within the academic community about the
advantages students gain from attending a full day kindergarten class to those that only attended half
day kindergarten. Some critics of full day kindergarten feel a full day schedule is developmentally
inappropriate and too taxing. The few studies addressing this issue found no evidence of increased
student fatigue either (McConnell Tesch,1986). None the less, the question still remains as to the
added benefits for those students who do attend a full day kindergarten schedule to those that do not.
Today, more than 93 percent of all 5 year olds attend kindergarten, but those kindergarten classes can
vary widely (Karweit, 1992). A key difference, and one with significant implications for state budgets,
parents, and children, is whether the class is a full day or half day program. Some kindergarten classes
meet for up to six hours per day, following the same full day schedules found in the lower primary
grades. Other kindergartens use a half day schedule, meeting for only two

and this war is for everyone. The arguments of the image about the destruction of liberty, and by

This is in particular important, since many Americans felt that WW1 was a war that was fought on the
behalf of the rest of Europe, and that America shouldn t have been involved. By creating the idea that
this war was for the benefit of everyone, the government hoped that the war effort would not be

Logical Design Gregory M Dowell CIS 111 Professor Thakkar 25 February 2014 Logical Design The
purpose of normalization is to create a stable set of relations is representative of the operations of an
enterprise. By doing this we are able to reduce redundancy to save space and avoid inconsistencies in
data. It also ensures that the design is free of certain updates, insertions, and deletion anomalies
(Ricardo, 2012). With normalization as with most anything else there are advantages and
disadvantages. The advantages of normalization are: ACID, which stands for atomicity, consistency,
isolation, and durability. Atomicity means the transaction is a single unit. Either the entire set of
actions is carried out or is not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes an inconsistency in the data since it was only updated in one location and not all locations.
Insertion anomalies occur due to the impossibility to store some information unless other information
is stored as well. Deletion anomalies are caused by information being deleted that may cause other
information to be deleted as well. This means it may not be possible to delete some information
without deleting other information as well. That is why it is important to use normalization when
creating databases to help alleviate these problems. There are three stages to normalization, 1st NF,
2nd NF, and 3rd NF. In the 1st NF stage must ensure that the table has no multivalued attributes. If
there are the table should be broken down into separate tables so that there are no multivalued
attributes. The 2nd NF stage requires that we break the tables down even more to ensure that all
attributes and functional dependency entirely to the primary key and has met all requirements of the
1st NF. Then, and only then will it be considered to have met 2nd NF requirements. To transform the
database to 3rd NF you must identify the primary key in the 2nd NF table. Then we must identify
functional dependencies in the relationship to ensure there are no transitive dependencies. These types
of dependencies can cause insertion, deletion, and update

is above the average price. In this paper, authors by using the basic macroeconomics concepts,
considered the macroeconomic environment during the early 2000 s and talked about the factors
which helped to the setting of the federal funds rate, from three perspectives. Influence of increasing
in demand, speculation, and overzealous investing in the housing market, are some of the reviewed

The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish (Creation Epic) Essay
The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish
The Enuma Elish, often known as The Creation Epic, is often considered the primary source of
Mesopotamian cosmology. However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the
true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the
authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to
defend Babylon as the axis mundi.
The Enuma Elish was composed in Babylonin the early second millennium B.C.E. The decay of
Sumerian civilization allowed the Old Babylonian Empire to become the cultural and political center
of Mesopotamia. Babylon was governed by absolute and despotic kings capable of wielding ... Show

Furthermore, the transfer of power to Babylon is illustrated by the subjugation of all gods to the rule
of Marduk. After erecting a throne for Marduk, the gods proclaim, Thou art (the most) important of
the great gods; Thy destiny is unequaled, thy command is (like that of) AnuÖTo thee we have given
kingship over the totality of the whole universe ( Enuma Elish, 36). This statement reflects the reality
of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme
power in Mesopotamia.
Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the
Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the
evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and
Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a
war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the
threat of war was removed (Foster, 9).
Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent
for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. The process
of translating divine power to earthly power begins on line 50 of Tablet IV of the Enuma Elish.

In order for health education to be successful, it is imperative to fully understand how behavior can
change in an instant. Health education depends on using the proper theories and models. This paper
will address the theories and models used in health education, the importance of the theories, as well
as real world examples and information from models used in health education. To understand why it is
important to use theories, one must first understand the difference between theories and models. While

The Health belief model provides useful framework for investigating predictors of condom use
behaviors among high risk adolescents, whether male or female. For the precaution adoption process,
a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. While an individual may be
well aware that he/she has an unhealthy diet, they may lack the motivation to make the necessary
changes. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be successful. A cross sectional
survey among 979 non obese adults, aged 25 35 years, was conducted. Perceived behavioral control
was lowest among people who had decided to prevent weight gain, only 85% surveyed intended to
prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld, amp; Brug, 2013). Acknowledging there is a risk,
or potential for risk is great but without motivation the problem/risk will persist and likely get out of
hand. The similarities found in all the models is that they are all centered around individuals and their
choices and decisions on whether or not to make the best of their choices. A healthy lifestyle is a
choice each individual must make for their self, choices that health educators are required to inform
their clients of. Health educators must know about the theories and models used in health education so
they will properly be educated themselves in order to help their clients to a healthy lifestyle. Theories

Balance Of Power In International Relations
Balance of power is a key concept in international relations. There are many different arguments about
this concept that disagree on whether or not it causes or disrupts peace in the world. Two main
arguments include those made by realists and liberals. While realist theory holds that a balance
between the major powers will create peace, liberals point to many examples in which this isn t true.
There have been many shifts in world power since the first world war that can serve as examples of
peace compared to types of power in the international system. While no theory may be completely
right, examples from the past century or so seem to prove that liberalism has the most accurate
explanation of balance of power and how it relates to peace in the world through democracy, norms,
and institutions. Because of this, states should not follow the advice to balance against power, but
instead seek peace in different ways such as democratization to maintain democratic peace. As I stated
earlier, balance of power is a very important concept in international relations. It is a realist theory that
can be defined as an arrangement in which capabilities are fairly evenly distributed among the major
actors (Kinsella 79). Basically, international stability exists when no major power dominates the
international system. A balance of power can exist in multipolar systems by alliances between major
powers, and in bipolar systems by two states matching each other s military capabilities.

Representation In The American Colonies
All throughout of the history of mankind, the notion of sovereignty was linked to right of succession
through a religious belief that God rules mankind and therefore has the rightful authority to appoint a
king who then, in turn, serves as legitimate authority until his successor is appointed. The role of the
church in legitimating and prolonging the rule of royalty was critical, and through the combination of
kings and priests, the subjects such governments were convinced that the king was the depository of
legitimate power and legal authority and the king, therefore, could do no wrong. Because of the king s
arrogance and alleged superiority, the American colonies declared their independence against Britain

American colonists barely covered one third of the cost of maintaining British troops in the thirteen

land, fought off Native Americans, and watched as their relatives die in the process of building a

the tradition of receiving permission for levying taxes. Even though the king had these divine rights

Patterns from the Food-Shed Map Essay
Collecting data for the food shed map was an interesting experience because I noticed several patterns
in my map. These patterns also helped me realize a few things about the production of my food. I
realized that the zip code on the box was not usually an accurate representation of where my food
came from the distance it traveled. Before I began collecting zip codes of where some of my food
came from I expected most of the food to be from all over the country. However, I was surprised when
a lot of my food came from mainly the East Coast (New York and New Jersey) as well as the West
Coast (California). When the zip codes were shown on a map, I noticed that almost none of my food
came from the Midwest or the surrounding areas. This was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They stated that Barilla was an Italian company that produced pasta in both Italy and the United States
depending on the product being sold. In their frequently asked questions page I realized that address of
where the pasta came from was also the location of their corporate office.
I realized that the address on the package does not necessarily indicate where my food actually came
from unless it was a fruit or vegetable. Processed foods might be made in a certain factory but the
ingredients used to make Oreos or Kraft Mac and Cheese are not listed on the box. The zip codes on
the boxes indicated how far the factory or company headquarters were located but not were the actual
raw materials for the food came from. A box of chocolates from New York does not list where the
cocoa beans used to make the chocolate were grown. Furthermore, the tomatoes from my marinara
sauce did not necessarily grow in the area where the sauce was produced. The ingredients for the
products are grown in different parts of the country/world then brought to one of the factories and then
the food is created, packaged, and shipped off to stores. The labels on the boxes list the ingredients but
the ingredient s zip code because doing so would be impractical.
Moreover, I noticed that a lot of my organic food came from California most notably around the San
Francisco Bay Area in Northern California. This could be because I listed multiple items from the
same companies and because organic

Underground Railroad
Underground Railroad
Junior Year in College Prep English they play this game called Underground Railroad. It is supposed
to put you back when slaves had to go to safe houses and not be caught by the bounty hunters. I don t
remember who all was on my team but each team had about 10 people, only 3 of us made it. It first
started off with a puzzle that you have to put together in order to get an address. It said 108 S. Main
St. We get to the house and ring the doorbell, no answer. The house looks vacant so we get out the
puzzle and redo it. We ring it one more time and a little girl on her bike comes up the street and tells
us that no one lives there and hasn t lived there for a while. So we call Mrs. Etter and she finally gives

It was basically our whole team. So it was just up to us two to figure it out. We get to the next house in
a breeze, it ended up being Mrs. Merkers house and she was so sweet she offered us drinks and even
had us go out the front of her house because the bounty hunters could see us if we went out the back.
We got the next clue and our wristband.
The house was on Kessler Rd. the only reason I knew where that was is because we did hills there for
cross country. At this point of leaving the 2nd house it was getting dark out. While we are walking we
see someone and couldn t make out who it was, upon further examining it was not a hunter. It was
Ryan Herrington, he was part of our group! He was just roaming the streets trying to find someone
who was on his team. So we went back to Mrs. Merkers so he could get his wristband. Then we were
on our way to the last house. We got to the railroad tracks with no problems but when we look down
the street there is a shadow of a person. We had to reroute our plan. We make it to the house and it
turns out to be Ben Ebels parents. They gave us our last clue and it was in spanish. Rachel and I were
both in spanish 3 but we had no idea about some words so we may have cheated. She got her phone
out and we google translated it. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. This clue translated
to say that Canada was at the football field. The field was about a mile away and it was pitch black out

Why I Should Take A Shower
Of course Finn hadn t gone in my room, twenty dollars had just dissapeared. Damn, I should have
kicked his ass. What could Mom do about it anyway? Whatever, it s only twenty bucks. Elli said he d
be here to pick me up around five, which means he ll proably show up around five thirty. So I still
have about half an hour to kill. I decide that I really should take a shower, mainly just to kill time
while avoiding my mom. I take a cold ten minute shower before returning to my room. While I was
showering I d missed a text from Sky where are you? we re waiting out front Thankfully the text is
only two minutes old, so I have time to hurry a reply, grab my stuff and run out the door. Get in
already, Wyght! Elli yells from the open window of his van. Elli s van is our only mode of
transportation, which definately isn t ideal. The van is black and really old, and is a semi passanger
van and semi cargo van. What I mean by that is that there are five seats, along with a cargo area. This
is a bad setup for us, as our band has six members, but we make it work, most often by having Alex sit
on someone s lap, normally Dexter s. Mainly because Alex is tiny, and can t weigh more than a
hundred pounds, and Dexter never really complains about the setup, which is understandable, because
Alex is pretty hot for a short, bitchy stoner. I climb into the back, where Sky, Dexter, and Alex are

Motifs
Motifs are essential to any work of literature as they help establish an overarching theme. Arthur
Miller s play All My Sons contains various motifs concealed within the story of a businessman who
made a mistake that costed the lives of 21 pilots. The author includes the motif of intelligence
throughout the play to prove that some people know more than they let on. Though Ann seems like a

loves him. This is evident as she goes a long distance to see him, during a time where it is
*complicated and expensive to travel. In her first appearance to the reader Ann is wearing an

a symbol for marriage and allurement as Ann wore it with the intention of gaining Chris s attention in
hopes he will ask her to marry him. When Jim is introduced to Ann for the first time he says She looks

Hegemonic Masculinity In Contemporary Hollywood
ABSTRACT
Hyper masculinity, defined as the exaggeration of physical strength, aggression and sexuality that
essentializes masculinity (Mosher Sirkin, 1984), appears to be a prevalent feature of contemporary
science fiction films in Hollywood in the year 2000s. The films ability to influence the masses lies in
its ability to reach many people at the same time, thus transcending boundaries of time and space.
Since the American film industry is a dominant force in world television (Tudor, 2013), the portrayals
of masculinity in contemporary Hollywood sci fi films have the potential to penetrate the minds of
people around the world, across different time zones.
In this paper, we argue that contemporary Hollywood sci fi films perpetuate hegemonic ... Show more

Impact of Fuel Price Deregulation in India
Impact of Fuel Price Deregulation in India
Introduction
Empowered group of Ministers on Friday, 25th June 2010, took a decision to decontrol the petrol
prices increasing it by 3.50 per litre that of kerosene by Rs 3 a litre. While petrol is mainly used by the
middle class for cars, kerosene is used by the poor for power.
Diesel prices rose by Rs 2 per litre and might be freed up in the future. Cooking gas prices were raised
by Rs 35 a cylinder.
Govt. has indeed taken a bold step by deciding to decontrol prices of Petrol increase the prices of

This too has contributed to the fiscal deficit.
Fiscal Deficit
How the fiscal deficit shall decrease in the long run can be understood with the help of following
equation;
We know that
Y = C + I + G + (X M)
Here,
Y: GDP or National Income
C: Private Consumption Expenditure
I: Private Investment Expenditure
G: Govt Expenditure on Consumption and capital formation
X: Export
M: Import
Also
G = Taxes Subsidies Govt. Expenditures
For India G is negative at the moment to the extent of 4.12 trillioin rupees. In other words, the
revenues generated by the govt. through taxes are less than the expenditures it has incurred.
Now, since subsidies have been reduced therefore Govt saving shall increase which may then be put
into some other use. However, withdrawal of subsidy would also mean more private consumption and
less private savings but that is not going to have any impact on Fiscal deficit which is nothing but
Govt. Income (Taxes) minus Govt. Expenditure.

Differences Between The Movie And The Last Of The Mohicans
The movie Last of the Mohicans is based on the novel by James Fenimore Cooper. Like the book the
movie revolves around the storyline of the Native American tribe the Mohicans. The main characters,
both in the movie and the novel are Hawkeye, who is adopted into the Mohican tribe; Chingachgook,
Hawkeye s adoptive father; and Uncas, Hawkeye s adoptive brother. Chingach gook and his son
Uncas carry the last drops of the Mohican bloodline. The storyline takes place during the seven years
war between the French and British. In the movie, it romanticizes the elements of war and race
relations in eighteenth century America. The Mohicans and Hawkeye attempt to save the children of a
British colonel, but are met with conflict with Magua of the Huron tribe. Magua, in turn, tries to kill

waterfalls, and sweeping landscapes can be seen. The film made a better presentation of imagery than
the novel given that they have more graphics and imagery at their disposal to use. The landscape plays
a significant role in the novel and the film. The landscape and nature help define characters like
Hawkeye, who are seen to be one with the forest. How ever, Major Hayward is unfamiliar with the

1852. He then became an apprentice to a saddle maker. He also studied to be a bookkeeper and

Corruption After the election of 1869, Tweed took control of the New York City government. He

Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged
Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular choice
of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the practice of
parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school setting (Hess
and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at home or in a small
group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was estimated in a 1999 report by
the U.S. Department of Education that more than 850,000 students were being educated at home. This
number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess and Okun). The numbers are
increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In order to promote individualized
learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be considered for more students.
Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized learning is a learning environment
where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching situation. The teacher is able to focus on the
individual student. This method is beneficial because the instructor is able to focus and identify the
student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she
is on the right track in the learning process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more
material. Another reason individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a
more in depth understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles.
These learners benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines
the work. This prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is
obviously an advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown
in that some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform
their counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom
full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated
children are invariably described as

Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food )
Introduction Genetic engineering or biotechnology can be applied to different fields such as animal
biology, agriculture, or in microorganism. [8] Ever since the first genetically modified food (GM food)
Flavr Savr tomato was invented in 1994 [16], genetically modified food has been at the center of
controversy in terms of its suitability for human consumption and its effect on the biodiversity of
naturally evolved organisms. Monsanto is the largest GM seed producer in North America to the
extend that 80 percent of U.S. corn and 93 percent of soy grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds.
[17] Monsanto has a tremendous influence and control over the marketing and production of global
seed industries. [17] According to a scientific journal report , GM fed mice could be related to the
reduction in digestive enzyme synthesis [9], suggesting that the consumption of GM food may impair
our digestion, and that individuals may be sensitive and vulnerable to a variety of foods. [9] Another
concern with GM food is its impact on biodiversity. However, the issues surrounding biodiversity may
differ from region to region [5]; for instance, developed countries have less farmland to produce GM
food by comparison to their developing counterparts. Therefore, the impact of GM food on
biodiversity may be less pronounced in developed countries. However, the common environmental
impact brought on by the cultivation of GM food is: a change in ecosystems and biodiversity, habitat
change,

We are always taught to appreciate the little things in life; the things that don t seem to have much of significance at first but end up meaning the world to us. In The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, there are a few characters that aren t present in the book for a large amount of time but have a great affect on the story. Kurtz is one of these characters. Kurtz is introduced towards the end of the story but he has an affect on the action, the theme and the other characters development even when he isn t present. Effects of All Day Kindergarten Programming On Academic Performance and Classroom Social Behaviors Pamela DeBraal pdebraal@yahoo.com Introduction For many children, kindergarten is the first experience of being in an educational setting. The number of children in the United States who attend either public kindergarten has increased dramatically within the last decade (Clemiinshaw Guidubaldi, 1979). There has been a long standing debate within the academic community about the advantages students gain from attending a full day kindergarten class to those that only attended half day kindergarten. Some critics of full day kindergarten feel a full day schedule is developmentally inappropriate and too taxing. The few studies addressing this issue found no evidence of increased student fatigue either (McConnell Tesch,1986). None the less, the question still remains as to the added benefits for those students who do attend a full day kindergarten schedule to those that do not. Today, more than 93 percent of all 5 year olds attend kindergarten, but those kindergarten classes can vary widely (Karweit, 1992). A key difference, and one with significant implications for state budgets, parents, and children, is whether the class is a full day or half day program. Some kindergarten classes meet for up to six hours per day, following the same full day schedules found in the lower primary grades. Other kindergartens use a half day schedule, meeting for only two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By doing this we are able to reduce redundancy to save space and avoid inconsistencies in data. It also ensures that the design is free of certain updates, insertions, and deletion anomalies (Ricardo, 2012). With normalization as with most anything else there are advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of normalization are: ACID, which stands for atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability. Atomicity means the transaction is a single unit. This causes an inconsistency in the data since it was only updated in one location and not all locations. Insertion anomalies occur due to the impossibility to store some information unless other information is stored as well. Deletion anomalies are caused by information being deleted that may cause other information to be deleted as well. This means it may not be possible to delete some information without deleting other information as well. That is why it is important to use normalization when creating databases to help alleviate these problems. There are three stages to normalization, 1st NF, 2nd NF, and 3rd NF. In the 1st NF stage must ensure that the table has no multivalued attributes. If there are the table should be broken down into separate tables so that there are no multivalued attributes. The 2nd NF stage requires that we break the tables down even more to ensure that all attributes and functional dependency entirely to the primary key and has met all requirements of the 1st NF. Then, and only then will it be considered to have met 2nd NF requirements. To transform the database to 3rd NF you must identify the primary key in the 2nd NF table. Then we must identify functional dependencies in the relationship to ensure there are no transitive dependencies. These types of dependencies can cause insertion, deletion, and update ... However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to defend Babylon as the axis mundi. This statement reflects the reality of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme power in Mesopotamia. Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the threat of war was removed (Foster, 9). For the precaution adoption process, a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be successful. A cross sectional survey among 979 non obese adults, aged 25 35 years, was conducted. Perceived behavioral control was lowest among people who had decided to prevent weight gain, only 85% surveyed intended to prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld, amp; Brug, 2013). Acknowledging there is a risk, or potential for risk is great but without motivation the problem/risk will persist and likely get out of hand. • 19. Balance Of Power In International Relations Balance of power is a key concept in international relations. There are many different arguments about this concept that disagree on whether or not it causes or disrupts peace in the world. Two main arguments include those made by realists and liberals. While realist theory holds that a balance between the major powers will create peace, liberals point to many examples in which this isn t true. There have been many shifts in world power since the first world war that can serve as examples of peace compared to types of power in the international system. While no theory may be completely right, examples from the past century or so seem to prove that liberalism has the most accurate explanation of balance of power and how it relates to peace in the world through democracy, norms, and institutions. Because of this, states should not follow the advice to balance against power, but instead seek peace in different ways such as democratization to maintain democratic peace. As I stated earlier, balance of power is a very important concept in international relations. It is a realist theory that can be defined as an arrangement in which capabilities are fairly evenly distributed among the major actors (Kinsella 79). Basically, international stability exists when no major power dominates the international system. A balance of power can exist in multipolar systems by alliances between major powers, and in bipolar systems by two states matching each other s military capabilities. ... Through the film, enormous trees, mysterious forests, waterfalls, and sweeping landscapes can be seen. The film made a better presentation of imagery than the novel given that they have more graphics and imagery at their disposal to use. • 36. Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular choice of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the practice of parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school setting (Hess and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at home or in a small group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was estimated in a 1999 report by the U.S. Department of Education that more than 850,000 students were being educated at home. This number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess and Okun). The numbers are increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In order to promote individualized learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be considered for more students. Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized learning is a learning environment where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching situation. The teacher is able to focus on the individual student. This method is beneficial because the instructor is able to focus and identify the student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she is on the right track in the learning process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more material. Another reason individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a more in depth understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles. These learners benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines the work. This prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is obviously an advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown in that some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform their counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated children are invariably described as ... • 37. Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food ) Introduction Genetic engineering or biotechnology can be applied to different fields such as animal biology, agriculture, or in microorganism. [8] Ever since the first genetically modified food (GM food) Flavr Savr tomato was invented in 1994 [16], genetically modified food has been at the center of controversy in terms of its suitability for human consumption and its effect on the biodiversity of naturally evolved organisms. Monsanto is the largest GM seed producer in North America to the extend that 80 percent of U.S. corn and 93 percent of soy grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds. [17] Monsanto has a tremendous influence and control over the marketing and production of global seed industries. [17] According to a scientific journal report , GM fed mice could be related to the reduction in digestive enzyme synthesis [9], suggesting that the consumption of GM food may impair our digestion, and that individuals may be sensitive and vulnerable to a variety of foods. [9] Another concern with GM food is its impact on biodiversity. However, the issues surrounding biodiversity may differ from region to region [5]; for instance, developed countries have less farmland to produce GM food by comparison to their developing counterparts. Therefore, the impact of GM food on biodiversity may be less pronounced in developed countries. However, the common environmental impact brought on by the cultivation of GM food is: a change in ecosystems and biodiversity, habitat change, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
