Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

possa parecer, para alguns, um
falhanço. A isso, chama‑se, no
entanto, estar mal‑habituado,
o que só comprova o enorme
sucesso do Sporting Clube
de Portugal de Nuno Dias e
restante grupo de trabalho.
Em Riga, na Letónia, os Leões
perderam a final diante do
FC Barcelona por 4‑0, mas
voltaram a mostrar que são
uma das melhores equipas do
planeta.
A semana passada na bonita e
limpa capital letã para disputar
a fase final da UEFA Futsal
Champions League pela nona
vez (depois de 2001/2002,
2010/2011, 2011/2012,
2014/2015, 2016/2017,
2017/2018, 2018/2019 e
2020/2021) ficou marcada,
também, pelo frio. Há poucas
semanas, fortes nevões tinham
pintado a cidade de branco
e era ainda muito cedo para
andar na rua de manga curta.
Mesmo com bom tempo, tendo
a chuva aparecido em apenas
um dia para contrastar com o
sol, a temperatura era muito
baixa em comparação com a
Primavera em Portugal, com
as noites a registarem mesmo,
por vezes, ‑1ºC. Nada disso
afectou, contudo, o rendimento
das quatro equipas (Sporting
CP, SL Benfica, FC Barcelona e
ACCS Asnières Villeneuve 92),
que ficaram todas instaladas no
mesmo hotel, assim como os
elementos da UEFA presentes.
O primeiro treino na Letónia
serviu para perceber as boas
condições e a dimensão da
Arēna Rīga, onde teve lugar a
final four da competição. Mais
habituado a receber hóquei
no gelo ou basquetebol, para
além de concertos de grandes
nomes da música internacional,
o pavilhão já tinha sido o
palco de um grande evento
de futsal: o Campeonato da
Europa de sub‑19 em 2019.
Bernardo Paçó e Tomás Paçó
integraram a selecção nacional,
que atingiu as meias‑finais,
nesse torneio. Interessante foi
perceber, também, o gosto
do povo letão pelo desporto,
uma vez que, numa cidade
cuja área metropolitana é
bem menos populosa que a de
Lisboa ou Porto, mais de 8000
pessoas estiveram na final entre
Sporting CP e FC Barcelona.
Na conclusão, como sempre,
fica o resultado, que foi negativo
no duelo mais importante, mas,
como referiu Nuno Dias na
conferência de imprensa depois
da derrota, este “em nada apaga
o trajecto” dos Leões. Mais uma
vez entre os maiores da Europa,
como desejou o fundador José
Alvalade, esta equipa é um
exemplo para todos.
Naturalmente superiores
Na meia‑final, contra os
franceses do ACCS Asnières
Villeneuve 92, o Sporting CP
venceu por 2‑6 e confirmou o
favoritismo.
Mesmo contra uma equipa
desfalcada nos últimos meses
e com bastantes problemas
internos, o conjunto verde
e branco abordou a partida
com a seriedade habitual e
inauguraram o marcador aos
cinco minutos, quando Erick
Mendonça rematou a bola
desviou em Esteban Guerrero
− estreante em competições
europeias de clubes – antes de
entrar. Seguiu‑se o tento de
Tomás Paçó, que cabeceou de
forma certeira depois do canto
batido por Miguel Ângelo.
O 0‑3 acabou por ser um dos
melhores golos desta final four:
Tomás Paçó lançou Zicky na
profundidade e este dominou
na perfeição, trabalhou muito
bem sobre Ricardinho e assistiu
Alex Merlim da melhor forma.

Até ao intervalo, Pany Varela
viu o cartão vermelho depois de
um lance com Thiago Bolinha
(ficando de fora para a final)
e, em superioridade, o ACCS
Asnières Villeneuve 92 fez o 1‑3
por intermédio de Nelson Lutin.
Os gauleses não entraram
mal na segunda metade, mas
foi o Sporting CP, por Diego
Cavinato e quando o adversário
estava a jogar em 5x4, a marcar.
O ACCS Asnières Villeneuve
92 voltou a reduzir, agora por
Salah Galmim, mas o Sporting
CP dominou até ao final. Alex
Merlim bisou para o 2‑5 e,
depois, Fernando Cardinal
converteu um penálti com
sucesso para fechar as contas
em 2‑6.
Com Nuno Dias a dar minutos
a todos os jogadores na ficha

para a final da UEFA Futsal

das últimas seis edições.
Eficácia não perdoou
Leões
Perante uma Arēna Rīga
praticamente lotada e com
muito apoio por parte de várias
dezenas de Sportinguistas, que
já tinham estado na meia‑final,
o emblema de Alvalade
acabou por ceder perante o FC
Barcelona por 4‑0 e ficou com o
título de vice‑campeão europeu.
A primeira parte até viu algum
domínio do Sporting CP, que
teve ocasiões para marcar
por Diego Cavinato, Alex
Merlim ou Esteban Guerrero.
Do outro lado, Adolfo e
Matheus Rodrigues também
ameaçaram, numa partida em
que a dualidade de critérios da
equipa de arbitragem no que
diz respeito a faltas e cartões
amarelos foi evidente.
Já perto do intervalo, dois
erros do Sporting CP deram
origem a dois golos dos catalães,
que foram muito eficazes e
aproveitaram as oportunidades.
Sergio Lozano, primeiro, e Pito,
depois, fizeram o 2‑0 com que o
encontro terminou o primeiro
tempo.
A tarefa ficou ainda mais
complicada quando, logo no
minuto inicial da segunda
metade, Ferrão desmarcou‑se
de Erick Mendonça e conseguiu
bater Guitta para o 3‑0.
Confortável, o FC Barcelona
conseguiu fechar bem os
caminhos para a baliza e,
mesmo perante o 5x4 lançado
pelo Sporting CP aos 33
minutos, nunca deram muito
espaço e tempo aos Leões para
finalizarem em condições. Aos
39 minutos, o guarda‑redes
Dídac Plana aproveitou esse
factor para, de um extremo da
quadra para o outro, marcar
e fechar o resultado em 4‑0.
Assim, foi o FC Barcelona a
levantar o troféu da UEFA
Futsal Champions League e a
festejar em Riga.
No final do desafio, Nuno Dias
mostrou‑se “completamente
contra aquelas pessoas que
dizem que o segundo é o
primeiro dos últimos”. “O
segundo é o segundo, é uma
medalha de prata. Quando
olhamos para as grandes
competições, como os Jogos
Olímpicos, toda a gente festeja
quando vai para o pódio.
Está na hora de pensarmos
dessa forma. O Sporting CP
conseguiu mais um pódio,
conseguiu a medalha de prata.
Somos a segunda melhor
equipa da Europa e só temos
de estar orgulhosos do nosso
trajecto, identidade de jogo,
postura e qualidade. Só dois
chegaram a esta final e um
havia de ganhar. Não fomos
nós, infelizmente, mas sermos
a segunda melhor equipa não
está ao alcance de todos”, disse
aos jornalistas na conferência
de imprensa.
Por fim, o treinador Leonino
considerou que “a arbitragem
condicionou” o Sporting
CP, o que não invalidou o
mérito do FC Barcelona: “Há
mérito na forma como o FC
Barcelona não só defendeu as
inferioridades, mas também
como concluiu com sucesso as
superioridades. Nesse aspecto,
eles foram eficazes e foram
melhores”.

Hugo Ramos, de 23 anos, é
de Lisboa e vive em Alenquer.
Aluno de mestrado em
engenharia de viticultura e
enologia no Instituto Superior
de Agronomia da Universidade
de Lisboa, viajou até Riga só
para ver a equipa de futsal do
Sporting Clube de Portugal. Em
entrevista ao Jornal Sporting e à
Sporting TV, explicou tudo.
“Foi um plano à última da
hora. Ia ter com um amigo
meu [Diogo Travassos] que
está de Erasmus em Pádua
[Itália]. Ia ficar uns dias com ele
e percebemos que ia coincidir
com esta final four. Era uma
oportunidade que não podíamos
perder, pelo que marcámos
viagem e comprámos os bilhetes
para virmos cá apoiar o Sporting
CP. Apoiar no estrangeiro é
sempre uma experiência muito
boa, ainda para mais numa
final da Champions”, começou
por dizer, revelando também as
primeiras impressões da capital
da Letónia: “Nunca tinha estado
nesta zona, mas estou a gostar. É
uma cidade silenciosa, pacata e
com o seu charme”.
Sócio desde que nasceu, Hugo
Ramos tem sangue verde. O seu
amor ao emblema de Alvalade é
inquestionável. “Vivo o Sporting
CP a cada dia, faz parte da
minha vida. O Sporting CP é
quem eu sou”, assegurou.
Amante do eclectismo Leonino,
Hugo Ramos é da opinião de
que “as modalidades são um
pilar fundamental do Sporting
CP”. “Enquanto uns se chamam
Clube de Futebol daquilo ou
Futebol Clube disto, o Sporting
CP é um clube desportivo.
Sermos campeões de futsal
ou de outras modalidades,
não só a nível nacional como
internacional, é o que faz o
Sporting CP ser um clube
diferente dos outros. Podemos
ficar 19, 20 ou 40 anos sem
títulos no futebol e, mesmo
assim, continuar a sentir este
clube. Isso é o que o faz ser
diferente de todos os outros”,
considerou o Sportinguista.
Já com a “grande experiência”
de ter ido ver a equipa
principal de futebol a
Barcelona, Hugo Ramos
explicou que “ver o Sporting
CP no estrangeiro é uma
coisa que que gostava de fazer
mais vezes”. “Poder mostrar
ao Mundo do que é que este
Clube é feito é inacreditável”,
acrescentou.

Diogo Travassos, de 22 anos
de vida e de Sócio do Sporting
CP, é o amigo que se juntou a
Hugo Ramos nesta aventura.
Estudante de engenharia
agronómica em Lisboa, está
na cidade italiana de Pádua
em Erasmus e rapidamente
fez perceber que é um grande
Sportinguista.
“Sou um tremendo apaixonado
que, todos os anos, vai a uma
viagem com a equipa de futebol.
Mas como o Sporting CP
também é muito caracterizado
pelas modalidades, é algo que
me move. Tudo por um amor
maior”, começou por dizer.

Para Diogo Travassos, Nuno
Dias, treinador da equipa
de futsal, é “um dos maiores
ídolos”: “Também sou treinador
e gosto bastante dele. O que me
faz adorar tanto esta equipa é,
também, o espírito e a paixão
que têm pelo Clube”.
Sportinguista desde sempre,
assim como “toda a família”,
o jovem não se arrepende de
seguir o Clube com tanto afinco,
mesmo quando os resultados
não são os melhores e afectam
o dia‑a‑dia. “Foi algo que me foi
incutido, mas hoje não trocaria
por nada. É uma grande paixão
que afecta a minha vida quer
para o bem, quer para o mal”,
admitiu.
Já com alguma experiência em
acompanhar o Sporting CP no
estrangeiro – ainda que nunca
tão longe como Riga –, Diogo
Travassos lembrou ainda um
momento que ficou guardado na
memória.
“Tenho a sorte e o privilégio,
tenho noção disso, de ter
acompanhado o Sporting CP
a bastantes sítios. O meu avô
ia sempre comigo e devo‑lhe
bastante. Já vi o Sporting CP
em Espanha, na Alemanha, em
Inglaterra e, dentro de Portugal,
a várias zonas. (…) Em Londres,
contra o Arsenal FC, com
um treinador interino e uma
equipa desfalcada, chegámos
lá e invadimos a cidade. São
momentos que guardamos e dos
quais nos podemos orgulhar”,
destacou.

Íris Arroja tem 20 anos, é
natural de Almada e está em
Riga há alguns anos para estudar
medicina, como a maioria dos
jovens portugueses que vivem
na capital da Letónia.
Sportinguista, explicou que
sempre pensou “em ser médica
e em Portugal, tendo em conta
as médias, por vezes torna‑se
complicado”. “A Letónia era
uma opção para mim. Pensei
em desistir, mas os meus pais
deram‑me essa força e estou cá
há três anos. Estou feliz com a
decisão que tomei”, acrescentou,
assegurando que foi “muito
bem‑recebida”, apesar de as
pessoas locais serem “um pouco
frias”. “Temos uma comunidade
portuguesa de estudantes
bastante grande e ajudamo‑nos
muito. Sou feliz aqui e esta
cidade tem muito para me dar.
É bonita, pequena, acolhedora.
Há potencial para eu ficar aqui
muitos anos”, contou anda.
Para Íris Arroja, “o frio no
Inverno é insuportável” e
“pede para ficar em casa até à
Primavera para se ver a cidade
bonita que é”. A comida, essa, “é
muito diferente”, mas a jovem,
“sendo estudante”, come “mais
em casa e não falta comida
portuguesa”.
E como entrou o Sporting CP
na vida de Íris Arroja? “Quando
era mais pequena, o meu irmão
jogava futebol e tanto ele como
o meu avô me puxaram para o
Sporting CP. Ia ver alguns jogos
com eles e tornou‑se o meu
clube do coração”, revelou.
Em Riga, a Leoa não
consegue “ver todos os jogos
do Sporting CP em tempo
real”, mas acompanha “todos
os resultados”. Sempre que
possível, no entanto, Íris Arroja
encontra‑se com os “muitos
portugueses do Sporting
CP” na cidade para assistir
aos encontros. “Por vezes,
juntamo‑nos em casa uns
dos outros para ver os jogos”,
considerou.
Sobre a presença da equipa de
futsal do Sporting CP em Riga, a
portuguesa ficou “surpreendida
e entusiasmada” quando soube,
tendo marcado presença na final
e revelado algum conhecimento
sobre o grupo orientado por
Nuno Dias: “Conheço o Guitta,
o nosso capitão João Matos e sei
que vencemos a UEFA Futsal
Champions League no ano
passado”.
Antiga jogadora de voleibol, Íris
Arroja tem ainda a curiosidade
de ter sido colega de equipa
de Amanda Cavalcanti, actual
atleta da equipa sénior feminina
do emblema de Alvalade.
“Agora, passados alguns anos,
[a Amanda] está a jogar nas
seniores femininas do voleibol
do Sporting CP. Foi um grande
orgulho quando eu soube. É
incrível. Se já gosto de voleibol e
do Sporting CP, ter lá a Amanda
é mais um factor para seguir a
equipa”, concluiu.

Com 21 anos, João Leite
também é estudante de
medicina em Riga. Natural de
Pardilhó, freguesia do distrito
de Aveiro, explicou ao Jornal
Sporting e à Sporting TV o que
o motivou a mudar‑se para a
Letónia.
“O curso aqui é muito bom, é
em inglês e é reconhecido em
praticamente todos os países
com relevância no meio. Já
estava no ensino superior em
Portugal e, como gosto de
aventuras, decidi vir. Cheguei
a meio do Inverno e foi uma
diferença brutal. Estava a
nevar, um tempo agressivo, e a
adaptação mais complicada foi
a falta de horas de sol. A cultura
também foi difícil por ser
muito fechada em comparação
connosco”, começou por dizer.
Sendo Sportinguista por
influência do pai, João Leite
“não ligava muito ao desporto
quando era mais novo”. Esse
sentimento mudou e hoje, que
está longe de casa, o Sporting
CP é cada vez mais importante:
“Fui gostando cada vez mais
à medida que fui crescendo.
Comecei a acompanhar mais
e a tornar‑me cada vez mais
adepto, a entender melhor a
história do Clube em todas as
modalidades. Quando emigrei,
percebi também que o desporto
é algo que nos aproxima muito
de casa. Quando comecei
a viver sozinho, foi muito
importante. O Sporting CP foi
quase um intermediário para
conhecer mais pessoas”.
Para o jovem, acompanhar o
Clube à distância “é muito mais
intenso”. “Antes, um jogo era um
evento mais rotineiro. Agora,
sempre que há um jogo é um
evento quase sagrado. Seja de
futebol ou não, é uma ligação ao
Sporting CP e a Portugal. Tenho
amigos Sportinguistas aqui e
juntamo‑nos todos para vermos
os jogos. É um momento de
convívio muito importante”,
garantiu.
Por fim, João Leite lembrou que
“foi incrível receber a notícia”
de que a final four da UEFA
Futsal Champions League
se ia realizar na Arēna Rīga,
até porque é um grande fã da
modalidade. “Gosto bastante
de futsal e andava à procura de
jogos. Quando soube, marcámos
logo e combinámos com os
portugueses todos”, finalizou.
Para João Leite, acompanhar o Sporting CP à distância “é muito mais intenso”
