Eile Wiesel s Night Essay
Eile Wiesel s Night Eile Wiesel was born in Transalvanya. He was asked many times to write about
his experinces in the Holocaust. He waited ten years after he was freed from Buchenwald, he didn t
want to write a hate filled account of his experince. He recived the Noble Prize for Night in 1992. He
lives in the United states and teaches at Boston University. Setting: Night takes place in World War II
in the 1940 s. It starts in Sighet, Hingary. When the Nazis arrive in Hunary and the Jews are move into

To the Nazis Wiesel was a good worker since he was young and strong. Through this horrible
experience Wiesel grows up. Chlomo Wiesel was Elie s father. He was a valued member in their
Jewish community and many people came to him for advice. He remained strong throughout the entire
ordeal even though he was getting old and the small rations were insufficient. He eventually died,
although it s unknown whether he died in his sleep or if he was taken to the crematory still alive.
Juliek is a Polish violinist who is also a prisoner in the concentration camp with Elie and his father.
Juliek loves music and dreams of being able to play Beethoven, but Jews aren t allowed to play
German music. When forced to leave Buna since the lines are drawing near, he takes his violin with
him and plays for the dying men outside Gleiwitz. When Elie awoke Juliek had passed away, his

Before he was deported he sang and chanted. He was also Elie s master of the cabbala. When he came
back from the orest of Galacia his whole demeanor had changed. He told stories of how the Gestapo
had killed all of the deportees by mercilessly shooting each of them and leaving them for dead. No one

Information Security and Sanctification
James Gheen
Liberty University
Lynchburg, Virginia
Abstract The increase of technology has given us luxuries beyond our ancestor s imagination. Yet,
with the growing technological advances information security among the cyber world is also a
growing concern. Hackers and cyber criminals are lurking to and fro seeking security vulnerabilities to
devour personal computers and computer systems alike. Their methods run into malicious behavior in
the form of developing malware that includes several types; viruses, worms, botnets, Trojan horses
and logic bombs. Moreover, to the Christian our very own sanctification has hindrances as well. In ...

Introduction As the world becomes more engrained with technology. The growing threats and security
vulnerabilities propose a great concern to keep our digital information private and out of the hands of
thieves, hackers, and abusers. According to David Donahoo quoted in the Liberty Journal, The more
information that is available in the cyber world, the larger the pie becomes as far as a cyber criminal is
concerned. (Menard, 2015) In other words, information security is becoming a vital intrinsic absolute
when we consider the luxury our technology has brought us on a daily basis. More so, in the spiritual
sense the biblical doctrine of sanctification also plays a vital role in the health of our own spiritual
lives. Sanctification as defined by Wayne Grudem, is a progressive work of God and man that makes
us more and more free from sin and like Christ in our actual lives. (Grudem, 1994) With that said,

Conor McKinley never felt torn between his Catholic faith and his sexual escapades. Hell, he hadn t
been in a church for nearing a decade. However, McKinley did believe in fate and defending Min jun

Back at the defense table, after Min jun Kim and Conor played a peek a boo ritual unbeknownst to
Walter Rearin during the Prosecution s opening. Meanwhile, Conor s ass ring betrayed him as he
leaked Min jun s jism onto the chair.
Shit happens, thought Conor.
Nevertheless, as the murder trial progressed, Walter Rearin gave his opening Defense remarks in front
of the jury box. It made for a solemn moment, McKinley knew Min jun Kim s life was in the balance.
So Conor had to thwart further temptation as the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr Rutherford, did you and your wife have a happy marriage?
Of course. Married for twenty one years.
Congratulations. Now, did you ever quarrel?
Hesitantly, Stuart answered, Honestly, I don t know any marriage that doesn t have some form of
disagreement. That s how it evolves.
True. Thanks for your candor, said the Prosecutor as he trekked back to his table with a smugness,
which made McKinley want to choke him right there.
Once, seated in his chair, the Prosecutor asked his last question, Did you murder your wife, Audrey?
The witness chair skidded backwards as Stuart Rutherford came to his feet shouting, Never. How dare
you? Aren t you supposed to be on my side?
Once again, Sandoval s gavel banged for silence as the Judge spoke, We ll recess for thirty minutes as
the Prosecution controls their witnesses.
As Bailiff Bob escorted Min jun back to his holding cell, McKinley observed Mr Rutherford and
Butler Oliver in an animated exchange in the backside of the gallery. Oliver Winston, the Butler,
consoled Mr Rutherford as his hand gripped Rutherford s shoulder. And then, Oliver s fingers raised

The Stranger, By Albert Camus
The Stranger by Albert Camus was a very interesting book that dealt with the importance of the
material world. Camus is a philosopher, and was able to express his views through Meursault, the
main character. Albert Camus has an absurdist touch in his philosophy, and this really showed through
in this work. Many of Meursault s actions reflect ideas that life is meaningless, and that sometimes the
world is just absurd and strange. This novel takes place in Algiers, in North Africa around 1940. This
is shown through the town s relationship with the Arabs, and the negative portrayal of the Arabs
throughout the novel. I thought that this book was very interesting, and almost weird in some parts due
to the strangeness of the characters actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the next few weeks, he lives his normal life, as if his mother had never died. He gets with a new
girl, and goes to the beach on a vacation. While at the beach, they meet with some Arabs, and
Meursault goes on to shoot one for no reason. At the trial for the murder, everyone is shocked that he
has no feelings about his mother s death, rather than the strangeness of the murder. He ends up
receiving the death penalty, and is sentenced to prison for life. While in prison, he confirms that he
doesn t believe in Christianity, and joins the absurdist group. On page He begins to believe that life is
meaningless, and he begins to look forward to his death. In the end of the book, Meursault really
begins to convey the themes Albert Camus intended

Understanding Philosophical Underpinnings of Research
Service members access to Higher Education While Serving on Active Duty.
Abstract
This research topic is focused on the availability of Higher Education for active duty services
members. Through the application of applied research, this study will focus on the theoretical
approach and association of paradigms (ontology, epistemology, methodology, and methods) yielding
to exploration, data collection and the subjective interpretation of analysis addressing the problem
statement.
Keywords: paradigm, ontology, epistemology, methodology, methods, scientific, interpretive, and
positivism paradigm.

Despite the United States Marine Corps being the smallest military branch of service, the fiscal year
2016 ended 15 September showed that over 32 million dollars of Tuition Assistance funding was
obligated. (Schwandt, Carter Little 2007) argue that epistemology is the study, theory and justification
of knowledge. It is an examination of how we make knowledge (Dillon Wals, 2006). Knowledge,
according to constructivism, does not therefore exist in a state awaiting discovery (Gordon, 2009) but
is constructed by humans through proactive and purposive interaction with the world (Morcol, 2001).
Methodology is the strategy or plan of action which lies behind the choice and use of particular
methods (Crotty, 1998). This research study will involve a large population of active duty service
members and veterans; therefore a quantitative research method will be conducted to ensure the
appropriateness of the study. Data collection methods implemented: Surveys /Questionnaires,
Interviews, Groups/Forums, and Observations.
Subsequently, there are limitations to all forms of research due to uncontrollable variables which in
most cases are the results of inadequate information and assumptions made regarding the research
topic. Limitations of scientific research commonly occur when the hypothesis of the study is not

Discuss the main theme advanced in this class. Use examples.
One of the main themes advanced in the class is the emergence of cities as global leaders, which we
have also referred to as the rise of cities. Cities are becoming globally competitive and playing a larger
role in international relations. Cities are also becoming leaders and finding solutions to problems such
as poverty and climate change that nations have either been reluctant to tackle or have failed to make
progress on. Atwell provides a few examples of cities participating directly with other nations or
global cities in international relations. One of these examples is the City of Chicago working with the
City of Mexico to establish a partnership in fields such as trade, ... Show more content on

The United States, through the use of the UN, used it s money and influence to achieve its personal
agenda for how it saw that the world should attain peace and development. In short, President Truman
was combating the influence of the USSR by attempting to help countries develop and attain
economic prosperity in order to stop and deter the spread of communism. The Four Point Program was
introduced by President Truman to spread democracy and peace. The plan advocated for using
Western advances in technology and sciences to help lift developing nations. The UN and developed
nations also believed that the best way to help the global South develop was through the use of
development theory, as long as it happened on terms that were compatible with Western values and
interests. Development theory was seen as a series of ideas and practices such as market liberalism,
democracy, the use of social sciences and technology to help underdeveloped countries. These ideas
would later go on to be enhanced and advocated by American Walt Rostow in his book The Stages of
Economic Growth: A Non Communist Manifesto. He believed that expert led development could
promote democracy and if done right, could be more appealing than marxist ideas to young people in
developing nations. Development was seen as a global project intended to focus on individual nation
economies. To tackle these global issues, the

Cobra Effect Essay
Have you ever said something with wholly good intentions only to find that you ve accidentally upset
the person you re speaking to? It happens to the best of us, often when it is least expected. What we
are running into are unintended consequences, or unforeseen repercussions, that result from lack of
forethought. In some cases, these repercussions can be worse than the initial problem that was meant
to be solved. The cobra effect is the term used to describe a situation in which a solution only serves to
make a problem worse. As the cobra effect demonstrates, actions can have unintended consequences,
and forethought should be taken to predict and prevent such consequences. Unintended consequences
are an unfavorable fact of life, but they can be avoided. They have no limit to their ... Show more

The streisand effect is an internet phenomenon in which attempting to suppress or cover up
information online causes the spread of said information to increase at a faster rate. This term was
coined in 2003, when singer Barbra Streisand sued a photography website for including pictures of her
cliffside mansion on their website. By raising a fuss, she drew attention to the matter, which only
caused more people to hear about it. The information Streisand tried to suppress exploded across the
internet, completely undermining her efforts and only magnifying the situation(T.C.). The streisand
effect is now a common occurrence on the internet, and deleting negative or unwanted information
usually leads to more issues. This is because the information can saved elsewhere before it is deleted,
and can be re posted by others. Deleting a post can also be seen as confirmation or an admission of
guilt, which can lead to more trouble. This is a case in which a person can either deal with the problem
at hand, or risk aggravating it, which in turn exemplifies that unintended consequences are sometimes

Twelfth Night Viola
In Act 1 of Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, Olivia falls for the reinvented identity of Viola, Cesario , the
character she embodies along with her physical change. During her appearance earlier in the act,
Orsino orders Viola to unfold the passion of my love (1.5.27). In the interaction between Olivia and
Cesario , the actions Viola performs are merely for the expression of her disguise. Even the
compliments where Viola refers to Olivia as radiant, exquisite, and unmatchable beauty (1.5.169) are
part of her cover to seem like a gentleman. Her dialogue about love where she explains how my lord

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Foreign Environment...
Coming into the foreign environment that is college, I didn t know what to expect when it came to
beginning WRD 103. The various assignments that were asked to be produced exceptionally
strengthened my overall writing abilities. The idea of writing creatively within narratives and
analyzing different stories or commercials expanded the way can express my multi modal writing. My
skills within all of these areas are still under progress, but with the constant practice, I am confident
that these skills will continue to grow. Our first assignment was to compose the diagnostic essay. The
essay was created to showcase our strengths and weaknesses. Understanding my strengths and
weaknesses came as a difficulty because in high school we were never asked to explore these traits
within ourselves. While constructing this essay I had a hard time evaluating my own writing so I
needed an external source. I had a friend look at my writing and point out my strengths and
weaknesses. I then listed the pros and cons of my writing. Understanding the prompt has always been
a stronghold of mine, I am able to fully comprehend the purpose of the assignment. Being able to fully
understand the prompt has lead to stronger writing as I revisit the prompt and revise my papers. A sure
weakness of mine was clear organization of thoughts. I can say that it still haunts me. I can write a
good sentence yet, delete it because I tell myself that I can write a better sentence. The diagnostic

Analysis Of The Book The Book Of Titus
Paul is the author of the book of Titus. The book of Titus was written around the years 63 65 A.D. The
letter was addressed to Titus who was a gentile and a companion of Paul. Paul called Titus his True
son . Titus along with First and Second Timothy are called Pastoral Epistles. The reason for being
categorized that way is because the letters emphasizes the reason for having leaders within the church.
(Votaw, Clyde W. pg.130 38) The book s theme is instructions to Titus on how to run the churches in
Crete and to encourage Titus in faith. The first readers of this letter would be Titus, some of the
leaders within the Crete churches, Zenas and Apollos who Paul gave the letter to give of Titus. Paul

(Bright, Hilda, and Helen Pocock.) The Minoans were the first advanced society in Europe s history.
The Minoans were found throughout mainland Greece and throughout the Mediterranean Sea and the
island of Crete. Around the year 6500 the Cretans were documented in hunting, fishing, and engaged
in pagan worship. In the year 3000 B.C. and the years following, immigrants from Northern Africa
came to Crete. They were skilled in Bronze making. This would soon lead to the Bronze Age and the
Greek empire would grow and become more powerful. In the years after 2000 B.C. is when most of
the palaces and the other artifacts that are still visible today were made. (Kyriakopoulos, Victoria. pg.
23 24)
During the time that Paul and Titus were there, the Cretans were at a deplorable moral level. They
were dishonest, gluttonous, and lazy. Titus had to overcome their way of life and preach the Gospel to
them. Some of the offices that were within the church were not being taken seriously, so, Paul listed
certain attributes that an elder must possess. The modern day bishop most likely would be comparable
to a deacon in some protestant churches and a bishop in the Catholic Church. (Votaw, Clyde W. pg.
130 38) The role of an elder in this day in time would have to be hospitable and friendly. During this
age and time, Inns were dirty and unkept. If you were a traveler you would want someone of offer you

Routine Child Immunization
The importance of knowledge or awareness and not aware of the needs of vaccination is the main
reason for children not being fully immunized. Inadequacy of community participation was also an
important factor for poor coverage. Therefore keeping every factor in mind the present study has been
carried out with the objectives of assessing the knowledge of routine child immunization among care
givers of 12 to 23 months old children, finding out the coverage of all the vaccines among the
recipients and also to identify the practice of routine immunization.

Lyme Disease Analysis
Lyme disease or Lyme Borreliosis is a vector borne disease that is caused by spirochaete Borrelia
burgdorferi bacteria (WHO, 2016). These bacteria are transmitted through the bites of infected deer
ticks (WHO, 2016). Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint
pain (WHO, 2016). Often a rash appears at the site of the tick bite and may gradually expand to a ring
around the bite. Lyme disease was first observed in the State of Connecticut in 1975. Currently, the
disease may be found in forested areas of Asia, Europe and the United States. In these areas deer ticks
feed on mice and rodents, which serve as a reservoir for this bacteria (MayoClinic.org, 2015). Then in
adult hood deer ticks feed on white tailed and other targets of opportunity. Individuals who ... Show

Unfortunately, for individuals in the developing world resources are lacking. It is individuals in these
situations that are extremely vulnerable to potential exposure. Climate change is also impacting
disease transmission. Large environmental areas are shrinking due to urban sprawl which is leading to
increased populations density s, increased pathogen load, decreased distributions, and a greater
prevalence of disease (Mills, Gage, Khan, 2010). Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in
close proximity of disease vectors. In this paper I have discussed the vector borne disease of Lyme
disease, and the zoonotic disease of Rabies. Both of these diseases are preventable and treatable but
they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and
humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. In fact, in greater densely
populated areas more and more individuals are coming into contact with such diseases. Prevention
requires resources which many developing countries are lacking which leads to inadequate treatment

Matthew Brady Inherit The Wind
Inherit the Wind is a powerful play written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee that tells of the
significant battle of conventional, religious powers versus freedom and the growing reality of Charles
Darwin s theories. This play is not the exact encounter of the courtroom battle but rather a dramatic
retelling of one of the greatest courthouse showdowns in human history. Although many think the
religious Bible thumpers defending the Bible to be bias and inconsiderate in this play and in the actual
account, those accusers may now look back and see that those Bible beaters really did know what they
were talking about they just didn t quite know how to defeat the false belief of evolution but still keep
the freedom of speech and press. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He obviously lacked the ability to see that Mr. Cates was not trying to rebel against religion but was
instead a lost soul searching for the truth. Mr. Cates needed love and help to find the truth, not the
abhorrent, terribleness of the jail proposed to be brought upon him. Mr. Brady should have revealed to
the world and Mr. Cates that he cared about the individual person and their freedom but he was
unwilling to let the false beliefs of Darwin be pushed upon the millions of children in the nation of the
United States grounded upon the authority of God. It was ok for Brady to be all for the preservation of
the Bible and Christianity but he should have seen reality and respected other opinions, even if they
were crazy and instead lovingly and truthfully reveal to the confused their faults. While the battle was
taking place in the courtroom two beliefs were trying to find their way to the top. Matthew Brady tried
to defend the Bible and keep peace, comfort, and assurance readily available through God. Henrey

The Basic Characteristics Of Humanism During The Renaissance
Some of the basic characteristics of Humanism especially during the beginning were that it mostly
consisted and was centralized around Italy. The reading mentions that something that made Italy
different from Europe was that their members were part of the clergy. Being part of the clergy
defiantly have them an advantage in which they had some governmental and educational experience.
Something else that the reading mentions is that humanism meant rhetoric and literature bases. In my
opinion, this was really important because it focuses more attention on the importance of education,
history, and literature. This was just a starting point of what education and the importance of it would
eventually become. The beginning of humanism also bega the practicing of history, one in which
people actually wrote in means of history actually writing for it. Humanitism increased in popularity
and therefore inspired others to learn and do the same. Italians viewed this situation as a preparation
for the public life. With this, not only people benefit but the whole society as a whole were benefited.
The classical value overall during the Renaissance was very impacting. I believe this because not only
did the Humanism thinking and Humanists help somehow develop better ways of thinking. This not
only opened new ways, but also better ways to think, act, and even create. The development of
Humanism helped create interest in new and even some controversial ideas. Rhe reading mentions that

The Little Things
When you re not paying close attention to all of the good things that can happen to you throughout the
day, you don t really notice how many small things there are that can have a positive effect. Small
things on their own aren t much, but when you start to add them up they can become something huge.
For instance, playing fetch with my Labrador Buddy, or giving in to that craving of chocolate and
enjoying every bite are very small things in the grand scheme of things, but take either out of my life
and it would be a tragedy. Every once in a while something happens that is clearly a big good thing,
but they don t happen often enough to really get you through that daily grind. For instance, my mom
recently celebrated her 70th birthday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are things that are small on the surface, but if they went away they would be pretty big. If
suddenly you have a health scare and are hanging on to your life, something like having a good meal
would seem pretty huge. If somebody you loved were to die, suddenly those hugs that you used to
share with them every day would linger over you and the lack of their presence would be one of the
saddest things in your life. The small things are really the big things because they reflect what truly
matters to you. I have a very busy life and not everyday do I think about and appreciate having a
simple phone conversation with a friend, getting a much needed hug from my boyfriend, or even just
spending time with my niece, but these are the things that would feel crippling if they went away. By
doing this experiment I learned that people generally focus too much on the negative things in the
world and end up making themselves feel like victims. And they don t pay enough attention to the
little things in the world that add up to make for a life that s worth living. People love to recall all of
the bad things that happen to them throughout the day, but really things don t happen to people, things
just happen. There are probably an equal amount of good things and bad things, so the trick to getting
through life and making yourself happy is to control how you respond to the world. If you focus on
the bad and

Greatest Generations, Tom Brokaw
The book The Greatest Generation , by Tom Brokaw, is about the men and women who were born in
the 1920 s and how they are what he deems to be the greatest generation thus far. He believes this
generation is so tremendous because of the fact they did not demand respect for what they did and
went through. Though may sacrificed as much as their lives, they do not think higher of themselves.
Even through all their struggling they managed to have enough strength leave everything behind and
fight for their country. I believe Tom Brokaw is correct when he says they are there greatest

Baseball is a very fascinating sport; it has evolved over the past 150 years! Baseball is fascinating in

Business Owners Vs Yelp Case Study
BUSINESS OWNERS Vs. YELP! INC
INTRODUCTION:
Today, every individual can share their opinions with the entire world. The defendant in this case,
Yelp! Inc. Is a website which provides an online forum on which its users express opinions about
business. The plaintiffs, the small business owners who asserted that Yelp exactioned or attempted to
exaction advertising payments from them by manipulating user reviews and posting negative reviews

To start, we note that there is no allegation that Yelp directly threatened economic harm if the business
owners refused to purchase advertising packages from Yelp. While the lack of such express threats
does not alone dispose of the extortion claims, see United States v. Marsh, 26 F.3d 1496, 1501 (9th
Cir. 1994), it does make the business owners case considerably more difficult. Absent explicit threats
of economic harm, the business owners must allege sufficient facts to support the inference, In re
Century Aluminum Co. Sec. Litig., 729 F.3d 1104, 1107 (9th Cir. 2013), that Yelp inten[ded] . . . to
induce payment through the use of threats or the exploitation of [economic] fears, United States v.
Greger, 716 F.2d 1275, 1278 (9th Cir. 1983). Applying this standard, we conclude that the business
owners have not alleged sufficient facts to support their claim that Yelp authored negative user reviews
of the businesses in question. For these reasons and the reasons explained in Part II.B of this opinion,
we conclude that none of the business owners have stated a claim of unlawful conduct on the basis of
extortion. We therefore affirm the dismissal of the separate claims of civil extortion and attempted
civil extortion, as

Why Is Hmong Culture Important
Many cultures have certain traditions that are very important to them. For example, the Hmong culture
has a tradition about marriage. When a Hmong man wants to get married and start a family, he has to
ask two specific men called Mekoob , to go with him to his women s house and formally ask the
parents for their daughter s hand in marriage. They later talk about the wedding plan and the price for
everything. The husband and his family have to pay for all the expenses. There is also a tradition

Toyota Essay
(b) Company background
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in
Toyota, Aichi, Japan. Toyota is known as the second largest automotive manufacturer in world, behind
German Volkswagen Group in 2016. Toyota adopted JIT in the Toyota Production System (TPS) as a
means of eliminating the wastes in all aspects of production.
(c) Implementation of JIT by the company
In 1950, Toyota Motor Corporation had a difficulty to predict the size of their warehouse in order to
store their finish products and parts. They have to use large warehouse to store the vehicles before
shipping them to customers. It resulted in expensive inventory cost and waste associated with keeping
dead stock. This becomes the main reason for Toyota to implement JIT and Toyota Production System
(TPS) in their business operation.
The Toyota Production System (TPS) was established based on the philosophy of JIT, in which each
process produces only what is required by the next process in a continuous flow. Toyota aims to
produce high quality products that fulfill the needs of every customer through the complete

Mexican American Relations Improved Since The Industrial Age
IWA Mexican American Relations
Question: How have Mexican American relations improved since the industrial age and is it sufficient
enough for a functional relationship between cultures?
Introduction/Historical Perspective
After Mexico gained its independence from Spain, one of its biggest goals was for regional autonomy
politically, socially, and economically. However, its problem at the beginning of its independence in
1821 was that over 60% of its population consisted of indigenous people, all of which would integrate
poorly into the influence of the Industrial Revolution. Additionally, after the U.S. Mexican War 1846
1848 ( Mexican American War ) Mexico lost over 55% of its national territory. The Mexican
American War was the one of the most significant events of the beginnings of Mexican American
relations, and is commonly referred to as the original sin between the two nations. The conquering of
Mexico s territory was driven by American imperialism and the expanist views during the presidency
of Polk. The increased presence of Mexicans in the United States then began as this new territory they
lived on was now United States territory. However, during the railroad boom, the U.S. helped to invest
with 60% of the U.S. s total investments in Mexico being in railroads and the others into mining,
ranching, and industry, etc. While Mexico was doing better as a country economically, the U.S.
controlled most of their significant industries. Mexico allying with the U.S in

business more. It s similar to a personal recommendation.
Therefore, it s up to your team to create quality relationships with buyers. These connections will
build trust and offer key insights on how to improve service.
However, some companies practice shady tricks to bolster their brands. And that s a problem.
It s so major that potential customers alienate your brand and try a competitor. So, is your company
walking the tightrope of online reviews? Find out.
Here are five reasons your online reviews repel potential customers:
1. You Don t Respond to Negative Reviews
Customer feedback is built on the consumer s experience with your brand.
Whether it s a normal reflection of how you run your business is not up for discussion. It s all about
how the customer felt after interacting with your company.
So, don t be alarmed when a negative review appears on Yelp. Instead of ignoring the customer s
complaints, try something different.
Respond to negative reviews.
Terry Powell, founder of AdviCoach, recommends the following: To gain back trust after a scathing
review, make sure you say something as soon as possible. A quick response shows that the business

Social Class Divide As A Report By The Equality And Human...
Social divisions are one of, if not, the main political concerns within out society today. Policies have
been implemented to try and overcome these social issues but as will be discussed and argued in this
essay, it is clear that either current government legislation isn t working, or not enough work is being
done locally and in government to tackle the problem. This essay will discuss the social class divide as
a report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (2010) describes how people living in
poverty and who are looked at as members of the lower social class are targets of prejudice and
injustice in Scotland. I will focus on the inequalities that exist within these socially constructed
groups, such as wealth, health, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another study completed by the Scottish Government helps us to see what kind of people are living in
poverty, and contrary to what most people might assume. Most families that are living in poorer
circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. It has also been shown how families where
parents are unemployed are better off on benefits rather than earning minimum wage. This surely
shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t
being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. Supporting the argument that
the living wage being introduced should be a government priority. This would thereby close the gap
between the employed and unemployed in Scotland. Other government policies that are being
introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian
(2015) published an article describing how welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty
since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola
Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015) discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a
devastating affect on 20% of the most deprived families, losing 8% of their income. This leaves the
impression that rather than poverty being reduced,

Critical Appreciation Of Poetry
Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a
significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of words on
a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To Eat a Poem
by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my understanding
of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual definition. The
essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my understanding of the poem: A
Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief that analysis is needed to gain full
enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but, the second time around, the clouds
will part and the sun will shine through. Similarly, the first time you read something and you don t
understand it, you go back and reread it. The poem, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert made no
sense whatsoever when I read it the first time. I thought it was supposed to help ameliorate my
definition of poetry but it did no such thing. Sorrow everywhere. Slaughter everywhere... praise the
Devil... After reading such things, I found the poem to be useless in enhancing my definition of poetry.

thought the poem was supposed to have an influence on my understanding of poetry. The

A disease caused by the bacterium which is belongs to the class of Spirochaetes which implies
cockscrew shaped. This bacterial infection is caused by four species. Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia

Borrelia garinii.
A person can acquire Lyme disease by the bite of an infected tick. This disease is transmitted by deer
ticks or black legged ticks. Ticks are tiny in size and as their bite is painless, people might not even
realize that they have been bitten. Once an infected tick attaches itself to the skin, it is able to transmit

If the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, anti infections treatment is given for a duration of 14 21
days. Adults and children above 8 are recommended doxycycline, while cefuuroxime and amoxicillin
are given to younger children and breast feeding women. The infection can be totally eliminated if a
person is treated at the early stage. If Lyme disease is persistent in a patient, then they will be treated
with intravenous antibiotics. When the disease is treated at a later stage, the infection will be stopped,
but the curing of the symptoms will happen at a slower rate. A patient left untreated could face
problems with the nervous system, muscle and joints and the digestive system.
Prevention of Lyme disease lies in avoiding contact with ticks and removing ticks that attach to the
skin. Avoiding grassy and woody areas is one way. Dressing defensively to cover up the skin available
for the tick to attach is another way prevents the disease. Using repellants on exposed skin or checking
for ticks regularly are other methods.
A decade long research that ended in earlier months of this year has sequenced the genome of the tick
that causes Lyme disease. This allows researchers to understand how ticks acquire and transmit
pathogens allowing them to design a strategy to control

The Induction Machine ( Im ) Essay
Electrical machines have gained a distinctive interest by experts because their advantages are
indisputable because of their ability to adapt to any environment and their efficient efficiency, thus
exceeding other non electric actuators. The induction machine (IM) is currently the most widely used
electrical machine in both domestic and industrial applications. Its main advantage lies in its
simplicity of mechanical and electrical design (absence of rotor winding (cage machine) and collector,
simple structure, robust and easy to build .....). However, these advantages are accompanied by a high
degree of physical complexity, linked to the electromagnetic coupling between the magnitudes of the
stator and those of the rotor. This is why, for a long time, IM was only used in constant speed drives.
(El kharashi and El dessouki, 2014).
It is only after the revolution in electronics computing and power electronics that the field of variable
speed drive by AC machines has grown tremendously. Especially since digital processors, such as
Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), which specialize in
driving electrical machines, have facilitated experimental implantation. It is not by chance that the
work on the IM is the subject of intense research in several fields, be it for the synthesis of control

in which the children worked, and a summary of the elements of the Acts of 1833 and 1844 the two
laws that are regarded as having made the greatest impact on participation and treatment of the
children. Next, the varying stances of the aforementioned central critics on the effects of the laws

A Historical Perspective On Anxiety Management Training Essay
In the article by Richard M. Suinn, of Colorado State University, titled Clinical Practice, University
Research, and Students: A Historical Perspective on Anxiety Management Training from The
American Psychologist, Suinn discusses the history and application of Anxiety Management Training,
AMT.
He first explains his development of AMT through is many years of educating at various universities.
Suinn first talks how he first examined how anxiety influenced the relationship between self
acceptance and acceptance of others and the association between anxiety and identification at
Whitman College. (Suinn, 1995, p. 287) After many years of research he along with one of his
student, Hunter Hill, they found that anxiety disrupts the trend for self perceptions to color evaluations
of others and is significantly associated with low self esteem. (Suinn, 1995, p. 287) While at Whitman
he also conducted research with another student, Tom Smith, where they hypothesized that is a
correlation between high identification and low anxiety. However, this hypothesis was proven to be
wrong and they found no relationship between the two. Suinn, then talks about his time at the
University of Hawaii. Here, along with some of his students, investigated if group desensitization or
individual desensitization was more effective. It was found that they were both equally affected, even
more so they discovered that a briefer approach was just as successful as a longer approach when

Does the Brutal Truth in Sonnet 130 and a Beautiful Young...
Does the brutal truth in Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 and Swift s A beautiful Young Nymph going to bed
, take away from the beauty of the two poems.
Beauty and aesthetics can be defined as Nothing more nor less, than sensitivity to the sublime and the
beautiful and an aversion to the ordinary and ugly , this means that beauty can be absolutely anything
which is beautiful as long as it is not ugly or ordinary, this may seem harsh, much like the poems by
William Shakespeare and Jonathan Swift. In both poems; Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and A
beautiful young nymph going to bed by Jonathan Swift, aesthetic beauty is explored in a brutal and
honest light. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 tells the story of a man describing his mistress ... Show more

It may seem romantic of Shakespeare to have kept his lover a secret, but we must remain aware that
he did have a wife at home in Stratford upon Avon. The possible occupation of Shakespeare s Dark
Lady gives a contextual link to Swift s poem; A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed , as the role of
prostitution is explored in this poem and there are suggestions that this was the role of the Dark Lady.
The purpose of satire is to show what is bad or weak about something or someone through humour
and exaggeration. Jonathan Swift is known as The Godfather of Satire , Swift himself defined satire
as; satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybody s faces but their own .
Here, Swift explains how everyone who reads his satire will see how he is mocking everyone else,
apart from themselves. The use of satire gives A beautiful young nymph going to bed complexity
when looking at the meaning, similarly to Sonnet 130, making it eligible for the canon of English
Literature, as one of the requirements to be eligible is that the work has ...complexity... . Swift
published A beautiful young nymph going to bed in 1734, the poem is satirical, and it satirise women s

Chinese Immigration to Australia During the Gold Rush Essay
Chinese Immigration to Australia During the Gold Rush
Following the success of the American Gold rush, the Australian Gold rush attracted many migrants
from all over the globe. The Chinese prospectors were perhaps the most controversial and the most
interesting nationality to come to the goldfields
Assistance given on arrival
There was more or less no assistance of any kind given to the Chinese migrants, as immigration was
rather a haphazard affair in the 19th century (especially to an isolated young country like Australia)
and the level of racism encountered by Chinese prospectors on arrival made goldmining and making a

Some arrived independent, fleeing the violence of the Taiping Rebellion.
Numbers and Location factors
The rate of Chinese migration alarmed Victorian government officials. According to the 1853 census,
there were 2000 Chinese in the colony. At the beginning of 1855, there were 10,000 on the goldfields.
During March 1854, four ships arrived bringing 1,400 Chinese. By June, the numbers had increased to
17,000.
Approximately 10 years into the gold rush, the Chinese numbered about 40,000 3% of the population.
However, they were concentrated in the Victorian gold rush areas that also attracted the mass of the
early white diggers Ballarat, Bendigo, and Beechworth.
Common Experiences
Alien in their language, clothing, appearance, and social customs, the Chinese were rejected and
harassed by every other nationality on the goldfields. The issue was not that they were not accepted, it
was that they refused to be accepted. Only a small minority of the Chinese prospectors chose to adopt
a western style of dress and way of life. They worked much harder and more efficiently than other
prospectors did, a fact that the latter party resented. All this resulted in many racially fuelled riots and
fights breaking out all over the country. Even people associated with Chinese prospectors were
persecuted and mistreated.
Outcomes/Impact of the Immigration
While there were many positive, lasting impacts of the Chinese immigration, such as the introduction
of traditional

Stage Manager Research Paper
The hard ships of a Stage Manager
When it comes to theatre there is more than just what the audience sees on the stage. In the back
ground, there is a whole team involved with the production process of a show. The main player in the
production process is a stage manager. A stage manager is a person who provides support to the
director, actors, designers, stage crew, and all who else may work throughout the production. A major
problem in the theatre program at Wake Tech Community College is that there are not enough study
courses centered around the technical theatre field. Stage managers are the back bone of theatre. At
Wake Tech, the theatre program does not provide the right courses that will teach individual s to
properly manage a stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The relatively small number of stage management courses per program does not necessarily indicate a
lack of academic training opportunities. Several respondents said that stage managers often refer to
themselves as theatre generalists who want to be a part of all aspects of theatre (Helton). This means
that most stage managers prefer to learn all the aspects of theatre to become more educated in the
process. But to learn all aspects of theatre, all aspects of theatre must be taught. It takes time and
knowledge to know which classes are needed or required. In the article Stage managers juggle many
jobs, by Katie Serrano states that sophomore Malloy Heins, a makeup artist and majoring in stage
management, stated that A stage manager connects all of the departments, the lights, design, audio and
costumes, to the cast and director, and make sure everyone is on the same page and schedule (Heins).
This means that they must learn all the aspects of theatre, such as lighting design, sound design,
costume design, acting, how to read a scrip, how to read music, the concept of musical theatre, and

Essay On Launching A Small Business
Launching Your Own Small Business The new century has brought upon the most advanced consumer
products that are simply magical. The smartest man from only a few decades ago could never

American access to all of the worlds documented information. Technology has shaped the world at an
alarming rate, it is a crazy time to be alive. Technology changed how we interact with our peers and
loved ones, in my opinion, humanity has evolved. I was born in 1999, I was born into the age of Tech,

The Cost Of Real Money
However, with the LM curve moving to bring the economy to full employment, it seems impossible,
in this case, to have sustained price rises (i.e. inflation) as the monetary side seems to close off the
story entirely. One could subsequently argue that, as real wages (w/p) declined in the process, then
workers would try to bid their money wages back up and thus regenerate the gap. However, recall that
from the four quadrant IS LM diagram (our earlier Figure 4), when IS LM centers on the full
employment output level so that Y* = YF, then the labor market clears and thus there are apparently
no inherent dynamics to imply a rise in wages. If anything, a Pigou Effect arising from the fall in real
money balances ought to push the IS curve to the left and actually generate unemployment so the
implied dynamic might actually be a fall in money wages (of course, in the process of the original
adjustment, IS and LM could move concurrently to the left and land at YF together, but then we are
back to a full employment centered equilibrium). In short, in an IS LM context, we can obtain price
rises but, at least within the confines of the model, we cannot obtain continuous inflation unless
aggregate demand rises again for some reason and there is no apparent reason why it will do so.
The problem, of course, returns to the old issue of what happens in that mysterious labor market which
was so murky in the Hicks Modigliani IS LM world. The Keynes Smithies story has workers
bargaining for

How Does Danforth Occur In The Crucible
The mass witch hysteria in Salem. Massachusetts, deteriorated the rational and emotional stability of
its citizens. The obvious breakdown in Salem s social order led to the tragedy in which twenty
innocent people were hanged on the accusation of witchcraft. At many points throughout the play
there were opportunities to stop the witch trials; however, one character in particular prevented the
crease in convictions. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Deputy Governor Danforth is responsible for
the tragedy in Salem. One of many reasons the witch trials were able to continue was because of Judge
Danforth s ignorance towards what was actually going on in Salem. When Francis Nurse and John
Proctor try to explain to him the girls are deceiving him, he over rules their ideas by challenging And
do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my
signature? (Miller 179). Danforth is proud to say that he has put people in jail, put people to death for
witchcraft because his ignorance blocks him from seeing the evidence he is presented with is false. As
well as being exposed to false evidence, Judge Danforth also makes the claim that witchcraft cannot
be disproved; therefore the court has to rely solely on the girl s accusations. Danforth declares, But
witchcraft is ipso facto, on its face and by its nature, an invisible crime, is it not? ... Show more

Not only was he ignorant to the girl s true intentions but he also abused his power and punished
anyone who spoke out against him. Many people died because of the failure to act and lack of sanity

an end long before so many innocent people died. If only people would have listened to the real facts

Eleanor Roosevelt
Hernandez 1 Hernandez 1 On October 11, 1884, a remarkable individual whom would later be
considered one of the world s most influential women was born. Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New
York to her parents Anna Hall Roosevelt and Elliot Roosevelt. With her blue eyes and light brown
hair, she would warm the heart of every individual she came across. She grew to be five feet and
eleven inches, which to this day makes her the tallest first lady. With regards of being the first lady she
never regarded herself as a V.I.P., however she demonstrated her status with naturalness and
simplicity. Her simple style and elegant way s imposed her true character as the first lady. Through the

This left Eleanor in a decisive predicament. She offered to divorce him; in her heart she knew that it
would damage his and her new political career. She was also concerned for the well being of her
children. Eleanor said, It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. In my perspective,
I whole heartedly concur with this quote because she sacrificed herself rather than to sacrifice her
family. She was willing to stay in a marriage that didn t even suit her just because she put others
before herself. Putting all of their differences aside, she still stood by his side as a normal first lady.
This represents her strong quality and character as a powerful woman. Eleanor was admired for her
idealism and good spirits. Many individuals benefited from her warm humanitarianism and deep
concern for the world. Being that she had great work ethic and wise counsel she devoted most of her
time to charity work. In 1902 in New York City, she participated in community service projects all
over the Manhattan Lower East Side. Her passion for learning and teaching went to a settlement home
with needy children. During this time she taught dancing, literature and calisthenics. She visited needy
children in the slums and investigated working conditions in garment factories and department stores.
During World War One, Eleanor worked for the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and American Red
Cross. She helped aid wounded and dying soldiers. She defends

Results of Advancements in Technology Essay
In today s society, modern technology is evidently developing rapidly and it is portrayed as a negative
impact. It can be seen that technology is a substitution of all characteristics of life. The purpose of
every technological invention is to benefit the lives of mankind; thus re enforcing the positive
connotation of technology. However, in long term it may not be beneficial; such as, education, work
and leisure are all becoming dependent on technology; cyberspace is dangerous and child obesity is
increasing.
Education, work and leisure are all progressively becoming dependent on being able to interact with
technology. In society today, technology is appreciated and considered to be a valuable addition to
civilization. It affects the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though, it can be an advantage for the society, but it is demolishing traditions in the long run. This is
evident that technology id suppressing a negative impact to the society.
Cyberspace is a non physical environment created by computers interoperating on a network. People
can interact in ways that are similar to reality, but does not require physical movement beyond typing.
Advanced technology established this parallel world, cyberspace . This can be convenient for people
to chat, shop, share, explore or research online, but it can also be a disadvantage at the same time. The
prime examples of the disadvantages are, people are able to create fake, imaginative identities and use
it to abuse others and this can lead to serious issues, such as sexual abuse or child grooming; and
since, the Internet can be recognised as a parallel world to reality, this discourages people to have face
to face human interaction. Consequently, cyberspace can be harmful to all people, because there are
hardly any restrictions on the Internet. Technology inaugurated this and it is having an inimical
influence on the majority of people who have access to the Internet on a daily basis.
This modern society has, without a doubt, adapted to technology; which makes it difficult to visualise
life with anything technological. This significantly influences children in a negative impact, seeing as
technology takes up of all

Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper
whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death.
While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns
him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a
statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the
heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful.
The Minister s Black Veil was first published in 1832 and was written during the American Romantic
time period. Romanticism was a time period where emotion and ... Show more content on

Hooper for his reason for donning the black veil: no attempts were made...to discover the secret which
[the veil] was supposed to hide (6). Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do
not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey
how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass
judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing
his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his
veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not
entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story.
The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the
minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil,
which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil
symbolizes secret sin. Hawthorne uses this symbolism to imply that man is inherently sinful; if a
minister could potentially guilty of sin, so can others. For the townspeople, the black veil has various
possible meanings. While many townspeople guess at its significance‒some of the townspeople

Rush Week Essay
During rush week, I was required to talk to potential new members for my fraternity. I had many
conversations with freshman and a couple of sophomores is one big group. The PNMs and I discussed
a wide range of topics. One particular guy I was talking to was actually a friend of mine who was the
only sophomore at the rush events. He and I talked about how great our freshman year was and how
much we hated a certain person.
In our main conversation, we discussed about how he wanted to be a part of a bigger idea and
fortunately our mutual friend referred him to my fraternity. My friend told me how he doesn t want
join a fraternity that hazes their new members. He also wanted to join because our Fraternity
prioritizes school first. Fortunately, his ambition and great character is ... Show more content on

emotion, there was a variety of emotions actually displayed in our conversations from both sides. We
both have displayed disgust, happiness, neutral, excitement, and frustration. When we talked about the
girl we hated he displayed all of the emotions listed above except happiness. I did the same depending
on his stories. Our show of happiness and excitement were displayed when we both discovered that
we both hate a particular girl and that he was rushing my Fraternity. Disgust and excitement was
displayed when he and I exchanged stories of our freshman year.
This conversation alone made me realize the many elements that are shown in a simple task that I was

The Oresteia Essay
The Oresteia
In the trilogy Oresteia, the issues concerned are the transformation from vengeance to law, from chaos
to peace, from dependence to independence, and from old to new. These four significant changes all
take place throughout the play and are somewhat parallel to the transformations that were going on in
Ancient Greece.
In Aeschylus trilogy, the Greeks justice system went through a transformation from old to new ways.
In the beginning of the trilogy, the characters settle their matters, both personal and professional, with
vengeance. Vengeance is when someone is harmed or killed, and either the victim, or someone close
to them takes revenge on the criminal. This matter is proven in the trilogy numerous times. ... Show

Another way that transformation is shown in the trilogy is the way that it goes from chaos to harmony.
In the beginning of the story, everything is hectic and does not settle down until the very end of the
play. Not only is the country of Greece in turmoil because of the civil war, but also the family of King
Agamemnon is full of chaos and disorder. Although in the beginning it looks like the chaos will not
settle down, by the end, there is peace. Because in the end, Orestes is set free and acquitted of the
crime, the reader is left with a feeling of calmness. Everything is settled and there is a sense of
harmony, both in the city of Athens and in within the characters.
The third transformation also takes place in the Oresteia. This transformation is from dependence to
independence. When the play begins, the characters rely greatly on the gods to direct their lives and
tell them what they should do. They depend on the gods to explain everything that happens as well. It
is near the end when the transformation takes place and they begin to solve their problems on their
own and do not need the gods to settle their disputes. This is especially evident when they have a trial
for Orestes with a jury to decide his fate, not a god. The Greeks are moving away from the gods and
myth as well. They are becoming more independent and are beginning to rely more on science and

According to David Donahoo quoted in the Liberty Journal, The more information that is available in the cyber world, the larger the pie becomes as far as a cyber criminal is concerned. Camus is a philosopher, and was able to express his views through Meursault, the main character. Albert Camus has an absurdist touch in his philosophy, and this really showed through in this work. Many of Meursault s actions reflect ideas that life is meaningless, and that sometimes the world is just absurd and strange. This novel takes place in Algiers, in North Africa around 1940. The reading mentions that something that made Italy different from Europe was that their members were part of the clergy. Being part of the clergy defiantly have them an advantage in which they had some governmental and educational experience. Something else that the reading mentions is that humanism meant rhetoric and literature bases. In my opinion, this was really important because it focuses more attention on the importance of education, history, and literature. This was just a starting point of what education and the importance of it would eventually become. The beginning of humanism also bega the practicing of history, one in which people actually wrote in means of history actually writing for it. To start, we note that there is no allegation that Yelp directly threatened economic harm if the business owners refused to purchase advertising packages from Yelp. While the lack of such express threats does not alone dispose of the extortion claims, see United States v. Marsh, 26 F.3d 1496, 1501 (9th Cir. 1994), it does make the business owners case considerably more difficult. Absent explicit threats of economic harm, the business owners must allege sufficient facts to support the inference, In re Century Aluminum Co. Sec. Applying this standard, we conclude that the business owners have not alleged sufficient facts to support their claim that Yelp authored negative user reviews of the businesses in question. For these reasons and the reasons explained in Part II.B of this opinion, we conclude that none of the business owners have stated a claim of unlawful conduct on the basis of extortion. We therefore affirm the dismissal of the separate claims of civil extortion and attempted civil extortion, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction/Historical Perspective After Mexico gained its independence from Spain, one of its biggest goals was for regional autonomy politically, socially, and economically. However, its problem at the beginning of its independence in 1821 was that over 60% of its population consisted of indigenous people, all of which would integrate poorly into the influence of the Industrial Revolution. Additionally, after the U.S. Mexican War 1846 1848 ( Mexican American War ) Mexico lost over 55% of its national territory. The Mexican American War was the one of the most significant events of the beginnings of Mexican American relations, and is commonly referred to as the original sin between the two nations. Most families that are living in poorer circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. The induction machine (IM) is currently the most widely used electrical machine in both domestic and industrial applications. Its main advantage lies in its simplicity of mechanical and electrical design (absence of rotor winding (cage machine) and collector, simple structure, robust and easy to build .....). • 44. The Cost Of Real Money However, with the LM curve moving to bring the economy to full employment, it seems impossible, in this case, to have sustained price rises (i.e. inflation) as the monetary side seems to close off the story entirely. One could subsequently argue that, as real wages (w/p) declined in the process, then workers would try to bid their money wages back up and thus regenerate the gap. However, recall that from the four quadrant IS LM diagram (our earlier Figure 4), when IS LM centers on the full employment output level so that Y* = YF, then the labor market clears and thus there are apparently no inherent dynamics to imply a rise in wages. If anything, a Pigou Effect arising from the fall in real money balances ought to push the IS curve to the left and actually generate unemployment so the implied dynamic might actually be a fall in money wages (of course, in the process of the original adjustment, IS and LM could move concurrently to the left and land at YF together, but then we are back to a full employment centered equilibrium). In short, in an IS LM context, we can obtain price rises but, at least within the confines of the model, we cannot obtain continuous inflation unless aggregate demand rises again for some reason and there is no apparent reason why it will do so. The problem, of course, returns to the old issue of what happens in that mysterious labor market which was so murky in the Hicks Modigliani IS LM world. The Keynes Smithies story has workers bargaining for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. How Does Danforth Occur In The Crucible The mass witch hysteria in Salem. Massachusetts, deteriorated the rational and emotional stability of its citizens. The obvious breakdown in Salem s social order led to the tragedy in which twenty innocent people were hanged on the accusation of witchcraft. At many points throughout the play there were opportunities to stop the witch trials; however, one character in particular prevented the crease in convictions. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Deputy Governor Danforth is responsible for the tragedy in Salem. One of many reasons the witch trials were able to continue was because of Judge Danforth s ignorance towards what was actually going on in Salem. When Francis Nurse and John Proctor try to explain to him the girls are deceiving him, he over rules their ideas by challenging And do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my signature? (Miller 179). Danforth is proud to say that he has put people in jail, put people to death for witchcraft because his ignorance blocks him from seeing the evidence he is presented with is false. As well as being exposed to false evidence, Judge Danforth also makes the claim that witchcraft cannot be disproved; therefore the court has to rely solely on the girl s accusations. Danforth declares, But witchcraft is ipso facto, on its face and by its nature, an invisible crime, is it not? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cyberspace is a non physical environment created by computers interoperating on a network. People can interact in ways that are similar to reality, but does not require physical movement beyond typing. Advanced technology established this parallel world, cyberspace . This can be convenient for people to chat, shop, share, explore or research online, but it can also be a disadvantage at the same time. The prime examples of the disadvantages are, people are able to create fake, imaginative identities and use it to abuse others and this can lead to serious issues, such as sexual abuse or child grooming; and since, the Internet can be recognised as a parallel world to reality, this discourages people to have face to face human interaction. Consequently, cyberspace can be harmful to all people, because there are hardly any restrictions on the Internet. Technology inaugurated this and it is having an inimical influence on the majority of people who have access to the Internet on a daily basis. This modern society has, without a doubt, adapted to technology; which makes it difficult to visualise life with anything technological. • 48. Analysis Of The Minister s Black Veil By Nathaniel Hawthorne The short story The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows the minister Mr. Hooper whose simple change in appearance alters the very nature of his existence in society till his death. While his decision to begin to wear a black veil over his face ostracizes him from society, it also turns him into a more influential clergyman. With the symbolism of the black veil, Hawthorne makes a statement on the involvement of society in personal matters and the black veil that is present over the heart of every man, making the point that everyone is guilty of being sinful. The Minister s Black Veil was first published in 1832 and was written during the American Romantic time period. Romanticism was a time period where emotion and ... Hawthorne portrays society s obsession with that which they do not know for sure or cannot understand. Hawthorne portrays the townspeople in this way to convey how people can often be involved in matters not concerning them so much so that they often pass judgements that may not be just. In Mr. Hooper s case, the townspeople are so invested in analyzing his black veil that they allow themselves to be affected by his veil so much that they fear him and his veil, and they even avoid him, all the while not considering how they might be wrong as they are not entirely different from Mr. Hooper. Symbolism is very prominent throughout the entire short story. The color black typically symbolizes evil, darkness, and sin. The black veil which conceals the minister s features, with its negative connotation, is representative of sin. The fact that it is a veil, which traditionally has a purpose is to conceal one s face, implies that the minister s black veil symbolizes secret sin. Hawthorne uses this symbolism to imply that man is inherently sinful; if a minister could potentially guilty of sin, so can others. For the townspeople, the black veil has various possible meanings. • 50. The Oresteia Essay The Oresteia In the trilogy Oresteia, the issues concerned are the transformation from vengeance to law, from chaos to peace, from dependence to independence, and from old to new. These four significant changes all take place throughout the play and are somewhat parallel to the transformations that were going on in Ancient Greece. In Aeschylus trilogy, the Greeks justice system went through a transformation from old to new ways. In the beginning of the trilogy, the characters settle their matters, both personal and professional, with vengeance. Vengeance is when someone is harmed or killed, and either the victim, or someone close to them takes revenge on the criminal. This matter is proven in the trilogy numerous times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way that transformation is shown in the trilogy is the way that it goes from chaos to harmony. In the beginning of the story, everything is hectic and does not settle down until the very end of the play. Not only is the country of Greece in turmoil because of the civil war, but also the family of King Agamemnon is full of chaos and disorder. Although in the beginning it looks like the chaos will not settle down, by the end, there is peace. Because in the end, Orestes is set free and acquitted of the crime, the reader is left with a feeling of calmness. Everything is settled and there is a sense of harmony, both in the city of Athens and in within the characters. The third transformation also takes place in the Oresteia. This transformation is from dependence to independence. When the play begins, the characters rely greatly on the gods to direct their lives and tell them what they should do. They depend on the gods to explain everything that happens as well. It is near the end when the transformation takes place and they begin to solve their problems on their own and do not need the gods to settle their disputes. This is especially evident when they have a trial for Orestes with a jury to decide his fate, not a god. The Greeks are moving away from the gods and myth as well. They are becoming more independent and are beginning to rely more on science and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
