Banana is mainly tropical crop and 27°C temperature is
optimum for normal growth and development. If
temperature raised above 38°C the growth and
development stopped.
The optimum temperature for growth in between 25-
30°C, and the optimum soil temperature for root infection
is 30°C or above.

Banana wilt found in the month of July-August. The
duration of infection, incubation, sporulation, dissemination,
complete disease cycle and critical growth are consider for
forecasting.

8. Control
• Use the most resistant cultivars available
•Uproot and destroy severely affected plants
•Flood fallowing the infected fields. Raise paddy for
one season to suppress the pathogen.
•Apply lime at 1 – 2 kg in the pits after removal of the
affected plants
• Nematodes predispose the pathogen, paring and
paralinage with carbofuran 40g / rhizome and 10 g of
P.fluoroscens .
