Volume 5 Issue 1
Hello Alumni,
Dear All,
The golden sands of time flow so swiftly from the palms
of life that we forget to cherish the good old memories.
Here AAG gives us another chance to look back at those
gleaming, beautiful days of our childhood and the warm
bond we all share being a Gulmohurian.
Alumni Association of Gulmohur successfully completed
its 12 years of establishment on 6th
of June 2020.
Let’s celebrate the 12 years of AAG and let the memories
of our school days bring back the mischief and smile on
our faces.
Sometimes, it’s better to bunk a class and enjoy with friends,
because now, when I look back, marks never make me laugh, but memories do.
~ APJ Abdul Kalam

No matter what’s going on in your life right now,
School memories always make you happy.
Alumni Association
of Gulmohur
Alumni Association of Gulmohur is always striving to
connect & reunite the ex-students of Gulmohur and
support & guide the present students of Gulmohur to
choose their career path.
We've added a mentorship programme to Gulmohur
High School group on Facebook so that one can build
skills and share knowledge with another member of our
community. AAG is excited to see all of us build stronger
relationships with each other.
This programme works by getting helpful conversation
starters each week so that one can get to know each
other better. Group members can sign up to be a
mentor or a mentee, and then create a profile indicating
what they’re looking for support with, or how they
might be able to provide support.
Page 3
School days may be hard, annoying and sometimes irritating . But admit it ! We miss it
when it ends.
MENTORS: Mentors can talk about their strengths/skills and also mention a hobby or interest. Let people
know what inspired you to become a mentor. Also indicate the preferred ways and times to
communicate.
MENTEES: Mentees can share what kind of help they want. Talk about the kind of support you need. Also
mention your hobby and interest so that it will be helpful for people to know you well. Describe what kind
of mentor you need, Include qualities or specific kinds of experience that will help you. At last, list your
preferred ways and times to communicate.

Down the Memory Lane
A very warm Hello to all the GULMOHRIANS.
I had joined Gulmohur High School in the year 1999
as a Bio-Science student. The place was new, the
environment was new and all new faces with
curious eyes were staring at me when I joined the
assembly line. I had come from DBMS English
School, and was already missing all my teachers and
friends from there. However, when destiny strikes
you have to bow your head and do as commanded.
Irrespective of not liking the school in the first place
I started with my first day of class 11 here. But to my
surprise I was able to make some real good friends
who are still in my contact and I know their families
too. The two years spent in GHS was a real blessing
with friendly classmates and fabulous teachers who
make the saying come true of being a Friend,
Philosopher and guide. Mr Nihar Sarangi and Ms
Pandit along with Principal Ma'am Mrs Chaterjee
made me feel very comfortable and at home. I am
very thankful to all and till day I cherish the
moments spent there. I am thankful to Pradip
Agrawal, who gave me this opportunity to write
something.
The school gave me a lot and I still miss the time
spent there and my teachers. Today I am also into
education profession and run my own online classes
side by side along with my job and for all this I from
my heart want to thank all there at GHS.

Homecoming
The place is the same, the times anew,
Long time back, we had said 'adieu'.
That wasn't easy, though we had to move on......
Years rolled by, as I never knew,
That she will call me, in her own way,
Homecoming to Gulmohur, on a bright new day.
There she sat, wearing a smile,
They welcomed me, very agile.
Times had changed and I was a teacher,
Tables have turned now, life's strange feature.
They were the ones who had taught me values,
Guiding me throughout, with all the clues.
I owe you my success, o dear ones,
I owe you my success, o dear ones.
Times have changed and faces anew,
Words I have...... words very few,
You gave me chance to prove myself,
Mingling with young souls, now guiding them
through.
They look up to me, once I did so,
Values never change, time rolls by though......
My message to you is loud and clear,
Never fear failure, never fear,
Make hard-work your ladder, team-work your zeal,
Wounded though, would surely heal.
Homecoming is what I truly celebrate,
Values and erudition, let them reverberate ,
Providence is all, the guiding force,
Igniting the souls, instilling force.
May we prosper, growing large and free,
O hail GULMOHUR, Hail to thee!!!

War against Corona
We, the general public, are in the midst of an intense war against corona where social distancing has become the NORM
and melancholy has set in. To drive off this melancholy, the best medicine that I have prescribed for myself is NOSTALGIA
From the diary of a 7/8 year old kid. . .1978. . .I was 7. . Or 8 when I had to leave my original school "Sishu Vidyalaya " to join
Gulmohur High School, after getting through "with flying colors", in the admission test.
It's just an event in life. But for a kid, it's just not an event.
I never liked the idea of my parents changing my school; they had their valid reasons though.
Changing school, losing my friends, Charlie going from the color maroon to blue with no tie and no HOUSE to support; it
seemed like a Never ending torture for me
Only Deepak Singh & M Srinivas accompanied me to my new school. I was sad & devastated, though I didn't let anyone
know. I wasn't expressive enough then, am not, even now. Our class teacher is Dipak Sir and he is so very friendly. He rolls
calls and takes our Maths and Science classes. BR Das, our principal is a very serious and strict looking man and he is the
author of our Moral Science book. He is some FRCS. Dhanalakshmi Miss is our headmistress, and Paul madam was our
headmistress at SishuVidyalaya. Roy Miss takes our Hindi classes. She gives such good marks that I feel like I am Premchand
or something.
Romulus and Remus is taught by Very Sseetyte her by the name of Rina Miss. She makes History so very interesting for us. I
felt and am not wrong, I would never ever be able to speak in English like our Das Miss, our English teacher. I try and stick
to my old pals if Sishu Vidyalaya who came to GHS with me Deepak & M Srinivas too doesn’t have many friends.
I have made quite a lot of new friends though. But my longing for mould friends shall remain with me forever.
Dhananjay, Navin, Debashish, Sashikant, Rakesh, Dalbir ,Amit, Manpreet, Satish, SujoyShome, Amrendra, Beena, Ashok
Periyar, Salomi Pradhane, Harvinder, Jaya Ghosh, Nirmal Kashyap, Sanjay Singh, Anil, Syamakant Hazra are my NEW friends
in Std 3A, although Tanmoy, Manish, Vinod, GSrinivas, Sanil, Susanto, Lata, Archana Baby, Santosh, Sunita, Vinita, Reena,
Balwinder, Adam, Gopal, Yeah, Rajnish, Jyoti, Nalini and others still remain on my HEART. I long to meet them, but it's not
easy for me to go n meet them. This school is so big and there are so do many kids & small like me.
I have learnt to draw the 3D solar system too. 149million km is the distance from earth to sun and 227m km Mars from the
sun. Our geography Miss is very very special Krishna. Miss (my first Class teacher in LKG at Sishu Vidyalaya) she's teacher
here too.
Ones, the big boys of some Cooperative college stormed into our school. Don't know the reason, but the big boys were
shouting n yelling at everybody and we're asking everybody to close the school. We were really frightened.
The year went on well. I fared well enough. I was happy but my happiness knew no bounds when I came to know that all
my friends from my previous school would come n join me in my next standard. It was like a dream come true for me.
At last I was going to be with my long lost friends. I remained calm on the exterior and I was able to camouflage my super
excitement of meeting them AGAIN, with my super cool demeanor, since I was really growing up fast and I knew how to
handle my emotions.
As of today I’m sure I’ve have gained weight and age, but for maturity, am trying hard.
Ones the Lockdown is over, I would be venturing out to buy an ERASER to erase that "NON" from the "NON ACHIEVER" tag
that's staying with me like Mr India.
Cheers!! Stay safe!!

From the desk of our PR Head, Mr Gaurav Prasad
It is a proud moment that I am able to express my feelings as Public Relations head of Alumni Association of
Gulmohur.
AAG gave us the platform where we can revive our memorable School days. It gave us place to connect to our
childhood friends, all alumni’s and respected teachers, as can be said – “BACK TO SCHOOL DAYS”.
Social networks – Facebook and Instagram page gave us the platform were all the Alumni’s of Gulmohur School
can reach out to each other.
One of the memorable moments of my life was representing AAG on Regional Meet that was held in
Bangalore,2014. It gave me an opportunity to meet one of the Respected Teacher - Pandit Mam, and our
beloved Alma mater under one roof. Conveying a hearty thanks to all those in this network and ending with a
pleasant note in this Pandemic situation, as said by our respected Ratan Tata – “Don’t be Serious, Enjoy life as it
comes”.
Here’s my little contribution of 2 poems for this newsletter.

Life- a Celebration of Joys and Sorrow
Treading the path of life, I have reached to a state when I sit down to introspect the additives and the road
travelled so far. The see saw of life teaches us the lessons no school or college can impart. Every soul has a
battle to fight every single day. The driving force and the zeal to reach the zenith keep us motivated.
There are days when you are lost and feel dejected. We procrastinate, lament and sulk, blame the invisible
forces for this melancholy. While there are seasons in our life when we enjoy the spring of youth, there’s
summer of our hardship and the autumn of our growth.
Each mincing steps helps you to move ahead in journey of life. The journey is long or short but cannot have
monotony. Visionaries, literary experts, celebrated poets or common multitude anyone if you have a
rendezvous at the end of their journey will voice out in their thoughts that the wealth, prestige and rat race
for which they toiled day and night , became ruthless to achieve has never culminated to be their permanent
source of happiness.
When I rest on my recliner today ,I am trying to re collect and recapitulate the meaning of life for me, This is
my moment of truth. I have to draw away the curtain of darkness and immerge from the illusion of
unnecessary sadness. Question myself why failure, loss does, rejection makes me feel dejected. The answer is
because of our perception of life and the yardsticks which we have set for success.
The very second you start thinking about this, that is your first move towards a contended happy life. Let life
be an unending festivity of celebration; celebration of our sorrows more than our joys. No matter what comes,
whether you are a loner your journey will have wintery as well as rainy days but your spirits will have only
sunny days.
Change your perspective, re phrase your interpretations of life. Rejuvenate your will power every day.” Be
the change” and celebrate your life, “your joys and sorrows”

This article is an attempt to decode the picture above. The picture imparts a deep message to the mankind that
the present condition is nothing but a consequence of our collective actions over the course of hundreds of
years. So, let's begin with the decoding.
The evolution of Mother Earth began long, long years ago about 4.5 billon years ago, with the Big bang which
gave birth to this Universe. The solar system has a magical planet called EARTH; the only planet capable of
sustaining life.
The evolution of life on Earth began 3.8 billion years ago, with plants and microorganisms growing and
multiplying.
From about 6.2 million years mankind began taking its shape. Earlier mankind went hand in hand with nature
and the creatures of nature but soon with the passing time and growth of intellectual, mankind started ruling
over nature. Earlier mankind was one with nature but now mankind has evolved and developed so much that
we have reached the Moon and Mars.
Mother Earth, we call our planet for it gives us birth, nurtures us and takes care of us. We are made up of soil
and to it we shall return. Growth in the material front has made life convenient and comfortable but at the
same time it has cursed our nature.
The above picture depicts aptly the present condition of mankind where we are locked within the four walls of
our houses and the other creatures of nature are enjoying their well-deserved freedom. Mankind is finally caged
into the cage which it has built for the other creatures to prove its superiority throughout the course of recent
history. We humans kept on destroying Mother Earth to fulfil our selfish motives of comfort and luxury.
The present condition of the world is devastating the normal livelihood of Humans. Mankind is facing a serious
threat of pandemic coronavirus. It has proven to be a curse on mankind by Mother Earth for hampering the
equilibrium of nature.
Due to this coronavirus outbreak the whole world of Humans has come to a standstill. But, a positive side to
look at is how this time of complete lockdown of human activities is being utilized by the nature to revive and
recover itself. Nature is healing it's scares that mankind has been inflicting on it for hundreds of years. The
melodious chirping of the birds, the gentle cool breeze caressing the trees, the lucid flow of crystal-clear water,
the clear blue sky is gaining the momentum of revival.
The picture above is a satire on the condition of the humans at present for we are compelled to confine
ourselves at a mere cage and watch the world flourish without us. This situation is just a repercussion of our
deeds and we should take lessons from the pandemic virus that if we play with nature and it's wonders for our
selfish motives then we will not be spared.
Ending on an optimistic note, let us all hope that we are able to come out of this pandemic situation victorious
very soon but this time with more compassion and empathy for our nature. Let's pledge not to disturb the
equilibrium of nature and to be one with nature. Kudos to the corona- warriors and good luck to mankind!

Fire Inside Out
I am not the phoenix, who rises from the ashes,
But I am born of the fire in my mother's belly.
The blood through my veins burns with passion,
For I am a warrior in disguise surely.
I am not the wild fire that destroys the luscious
green fields,
But I am the flame that gives birth to life.
I am the warmth that is kissed by my soft lips,
For I into chastity dive.
I am not the lightening that makes the sky eerie,
But I am the flicking candle that drives away the
darkness.
I am the source of fire that makes you merry,
On a snow-covered night when there are lost voices
in the wilderness.
I am not the spark that leaves someone homeless,
But I am the whole universe that provides comfort
and shelter.
I am the path-guiding light for someone who is all a
mess,
For I build castle from glasses that earlier shattered.
I am not the funeral fire that burns the body to
ashes,
But I am the immortal flame that lives in the soul.
I am the fire of resurrection, liberty and knowledge,
I am the fire that reflects in my eyes and illuminates
my soul.

The Endless
Have you seen the rose,
Blooming in the full spring.
Spreading it's fragrance till far
Look, how the birds surround her and sing.
Sun's rays refreshed her up,
Bees buzz around for nectar.
Her beauty seems endless, infinite,
Look, how her petals reflects the colour.
You came near to her,
Enchanted by her beauty.
Captured by the aroma.
Look, how she continues for you ,her duty.
You took her in hands,
She is still happily aromatic.
Thinking of getting an extra care and love,
Look, how the rose feels the warmth of your hands.
Sun sets and the rose dry up,
You threw her out from hands.
In place of keeping it in a diary,
Look, how you feel satisfied but actually
misunderstand.
Look, how beautiful and pure the rose was there.

Happiness :)
Is it just a curve on a face,
Or it really comes out of some kinda emotions?
Does a smiling face really shows how happy one is,
Or it’s just a way to fool people around?
Is it that a person with a smile represents
"everything is fine?",
Or is there major battles going on inside?
Well, this doesn't need a answer coz we know it
very well.
Fighting with fears,
Overcoming all insecurities,
Convincing oneself that everything's gonna be fine,
Holding on to it emotions,
Trying to show that you are strong, when you know
how helpless you are.
Eagerly looking for a shoulder to cry on,
When unfortunately you cannot....
Looking for a partner to share your thoughts,
Meanwhile fearing whether someone will really
understand you or not?
Going through so many battles inside,
With a sweet innocent smile that is visible outside.

Growing up
The next four years start here.
Take a deep breath as you walk through the doors.
Hear the feet pounding the floors.
Eyes are watching, everywhere.
Look at the seniors, we wouldn't dare.
Talk to old friends, the pressure ends there.
Decisions and choices, always in the way.
Affecting your future, day by day.
New things to learn, always a delay.
Stressful schoolwork and pressure to try.
They say always give 110%, but you just ask why?
Overwhelming, bored...you just want to cry.
Sports, pressuring you to do your best.
But you know you will never be as good as the rest.
Everything here is always a test.
They say these years will be the best years of our
lives,
but others may think it's just another few years of
throwing knives.
So hold onto the memories already made,
because soon it will all fade.

A New World
I had a dream,
A dream of yet another Universe.
A journey of escape beyond the harsh reality is what I was told,
A journey from my less desired conscious to a much more loved subconscious is what I told them .
I had a dream,
To ride to a world where I'll drive my own destiny and be spectator to none.
To run away to a place where things will be in my control and I alone will take charge of all the things that I had
ever done.
I dreamt of being the captain to my enormous vessel of insecurities and traumas and sail it away to a
destination unknown, catching sight to that only when I needed most.
I desire to live my dream of being the pilot of a fighter airplane displaying the dogfight of my rights and wrongs
constantly fighting an unsung battle in my silenced amphitheatre in the darkest winter night.
I had a dream,
A dream to travel to an another place
A place where hopes and wishes have not yet missed their flight.
A place where anticipated life motivation is displayed in big bold italics in the board of isolation that is yet to be
liked.
A place where the signboards of direction always indicate moving forward.
A journey into a place where moving backwards is just another combination of misplaced words.
A haul through a place where hunger is satiated by getting a taste of their authentic self, dipped in the ketchup
of the willingness to change.
I had a dream, a dream to have reached a place where:
Creation of talents is considered the ultimate blessing
People are filled with optimistic virtues rather than pessimistic beliefs.
People move on instead of sulking over the mistakes once committed.
I had a dream to settle in a world where:
For every beginning there is a yet more creative ending;
For every difficult start there is a fulfilling end;
For every unsung battle some words that needs to be said.
I had a dream; A dream of a yet another universe is what I said.

Fire
Remember what you must do
When they undervalue you
when they think,
your softness is your weakness.
when they treat your kindness,
like it is their advantage.
You awaken
every dragon,
every wolf,
every monster,
that sleeps inside you.
and you remind them
what hell looks like
when it wears the skin
of a gentle human

AAG on Social Media 5. Articles by Alumni ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF GULMOHUR Volume 5 Issue 1 Hello Alumni, Dear All, The golden sands of time flow so swiftly from the palms of life that we forget to cherish the good old memories. Here AAG gives us another chance to look back at those gleaming, beautiful days of our childhood and the warm bond we all share being a Gulmohurian. Alumni Association of Gulmohur successfully completed its 12 years of establishment on 6th of June 2020. Let’s celebrate the 12 years of AAG and let the memories of our school days bring back the mischief and smile on our faces. Sometimes, it’s better to bunk a class and enjoy with friends, because now, when I look back, marks never make me laugh, but memories do. ~ APJ Abdul Kalam
  • 2. Page 2 Alumni Association of Gulmohur No matter what’s going on in your life right now, School memories always make you happy.
  • 3. Alumni Association of Gulmohur Alumni Association of Gulmohur is always striving to connect & reunite the ex-students of Gulmohur and support & guide the present students of Gulmohur to choose their career path. We've added a mentorship programme to Gulmohur High School group on Facebook so that one can build skills and share knowledge with another member of our community. AAG is excited to see all of us build stronger relationships with each other. This programme works by getting helpful conversation starters each week so that one can get to know each other better. Group members can sign up to be a mentor or a mentee, and then create a profile indicating what they’re looking for support with, or how they might be able to provide support. Page 3 School days may be hard, annoying and sometimes irritating . But admit it ! We miss it when it ends. MENTORS: Mentors can talk about their strengths/skills and also mention a hobby or interest. Let people know what inspired you to become a mentor. Also indicate the preferred ways and times to communicate. MENTEES: Mentees can share what kind of help they want. Talk about the kind of support you need. Also mention your hobby and interest so that it will be helpful for people to know you well. Describe what kind of mentor you need, Include qualities or specific kinds of experience that will help you. At last, list your preferred ways and times to communicate.

  • 7. Page 7 Alumni Association of Gulmohur Down the Memory Lane A very warm Hello to all the GULMOHRIANS. I had joined Gulmohur High School in the year 1999 as a Bio-Science student. The place was new, the environment was new and all new faces with curious eyes were staring at me when I joined the assembly line. I had come from DBMS English School, and was already missing all my teachers and friends from there. However, when destiny strikes you have to bow your head and do as commanded. Irrespective of not liking the school in the first place I started with my first day of class 11 here. But to my surprise I was able to make some real good friends who are still in my contact and I know their families too. The two years spent in GHS was a real blessing with friendly classmates and fabulous teachers who make the saying come true of being a Friend, Philosopher and guide. Mr Nihar Sarangi and Ms Pandit along with Principal Ma'am Mrs Chaterjee made me feel very comfortable and at home. I am very thankful to all and till day I cherish the moments spent there. I am thankful to Pradip Agrawal, who gave me this opportunity to write something. The school gave me a lot and I still miss the time spent there and my teachers. Today I am also into education profession and run my own online classes side by side along with my job and for all this I from my heart want to thank all there at GHS. Tapasya Mukker Batch 2001 Homecoming The place is the same, the times anew, Long time back, we had said 'adieu'. That wasn't easy, though we had to move on...... Years rolled by, as I never knew, That she will call me, in her own way, Homecoming to Gulmohur, on a bright new day. There she sat, wearing a smile, They welcomed me, very agile. Times had changed and I was a teacher, Tables have turned now, life's strange feature. They were the ones who had taught me values, Guiding me throughout, with all the clues. I owe you my success, o dear ones, I owe you my success, o dear ones. Times have changed and faces anew, Words I have...... words very few, You gave me chance to prove myself, Mingling with young souls, now guiding them through. They look up to me, once I did so, Values never change, time rolls by though...... My message to you is loud and clear, Never fear failure, never fear, Make hard-work your ladder, team-work your zeal, Wounded though, would surely heal. Homecoming is what I truly celebrate, Values and erudition, let them reverberate , Providence is all, the guiding force, Igniting the souls, instilling force. May we prosper, growing large and free, O hail GULMOHUR, Hail to thee!!! Joydeep Mukherjee Batch 2003
  • 8. Page 8 Alumni Association of Gulmohur War against Corona We, the general public, are in the midst of an intense war against corona where social distancing has become the NORM and melancholy has set in. To drive off this melancholy, the best medicine that I have prescribed for myself is NOSTALGIA From the diary of a 7/8 year old kid. . .1978. . .I was 7. . Or 8 when I had to leave my original school "Sishu Vidyalaya " to join Gulmohur High School, after getting through "with flying colors", in the admission test. It's just an event in life. But for a kid, it's just not an event. I never liked the idea of my parents changing my school; they had their valid reasons though. Changing school, losing my friends, Charlie going from the color maroon to blue with no tie and no HOUSE to support; it seemed like a Never ending torture for me Only Deepak Singh & M Srinivas accompanied me to my new school. I was sad & devastated, though I didn't let anyone know. I wasn't expressive enough then, am not, even now. Our class teacher is Dipak Sir and he is so very friendly. He rolls calls and takes our Maths and Science classes. BR Das, our principal is a very serious and strict looking man and he is the author of our Moral Science book. He is some FRCS. Dhanalakshmi Miss is our headmistress, and Paul madam was our headmistress at SishuVidyalaya. Roy Miss takes our Hindi classes. She gives such good marks that I feel like I am Premchand or something. Romulus and Remus is taught by Very Sseetyte her by the name of Rina Miss. She makes History so very interesting for us. I felt and am not wrong, I would never ever be able to speak in English like our Das Miss, our English teacher. I try and stick to my old pals if Sishu Vidyalaya who came to GHS with me Deepak & M Srinivas too doesn’t have many friends. I have made quite a lot of new friends though. But my longing for mould friends shall remain with me forever. Dhananjay, Navin, Debashish, Sashikant, Rakesh, Dalbir ,Amit, Manpreet, Satish, SujoyShome, Amrendra, Beena, Ashok Periyar, Salomi Pradhane, Harvinder, Jaya Ghosh, Nirmal Kashyap, Sanjay Singh, Anil, Syamakant Hazra are my NEW friends in Std 3A, although Tanmoy, Manish, Vinod, GSrinivas, Sanil, Susanto, Lata, Archana Baby, Santosh, Sunita, Vinita, Reena, Balwinder, Adam, Gopal, Yeah, Rajnish, Jyoti, Nalini and others still remain on my HEART. I long to meet them, but it's not easy for me to go n meet them. This school is so big and there are so do many kids & small like me. I have learnt to draw the 3D solar system too. 149million km is the distance from earth to sun and 227m km Mars from the sun. Our geography Miss is very very special Krishna. Miss (my first Class teacher in LKG at Sishu Vidyalaya) she's teacher here too. Ones, the big boys of some Cooperative college stormed into our school. Don't know the reason, but the big boys were shouting n yelling at everybody and we're asking everybody to close the school. We were really frightened. The year went on well. I fared well enough. I was happy but my happiness knew no bounds when I came to know that all my friends from my previous school would come n join me in my next standard. It was like a dream come true for me. At last I was going to be with my long lost friends. I remained calm on the exterior and I was able to camouflage my super excitement of meeting them AGAIN, with my super cool demeanor, since I was really growing up fast and I knew how to handle my emotions. As of today I’m sure I’ve have gained weight and age, but for maturity, am trying hard. Ones the Lockdown is over, I would be venturing out to buy an ERASER to erase that "NON" from the "NON ACHIEVER" tag that's staying with me like Mr India. Cheers!! Stay safe!! Debjit Biswas Batch 1986
  • 9. Page 9 Alumni Association of Gulmohur From the desk of our PR Head, Mr Gaurav Prasad It is a proud moment that I am able to express my feelings as Public Relations head of Alumni Association of Gulmohur. AAG gave us the platform where we can revive our memorable School days. It gave us place to connect to our childhood friends, all alumni’s and respected teachers, as can be said – “BACK TO SCHOOL DAYS”. Social networks – Facebook and Instagram page gave us the platform were all the Alumni’s of Gulmohur School can reach out to each other. One of the memorable moments of my life was representing AAG on Regional Meet that was held in Bangalore,2014. It gave me an opportunity to meet one of the Respected Teacher - Pandit Mam, and our beloved Alma mater under one roof. Conveying a hearty thanks to all those in this network and ending with a pleasant note in this Pandemic situation, as said by our respected Ratan Tata – “Don’t be Serious, Enjoy life as it comes”. Here’s my little contribution of 2 poems for this newsletter. .. ... औ .. .. उ औ .. औ .. … प ओ .. अ ब - … .. ऐ ऐ .. – ए प ब .. ब .. अ प प … ब प .. औ .. ब प .. ब औ .. ब अ प प … ब प .. • 10. Page 10 Alumni Association of Gulmohur Life- a Celebration of Joys and Sorrow Treading the path of life, I have reached to a state when I sit down to introspect the additives and the road travelled so far. The see saw of life teaches us the lessons no school or college can impart. Every soul has a battle to fight every single day. The driving force and the zeal to reach the zenith keep us motivated. There are days when you are lost and feel dejected. We procrastinate, lament and sulk, blame the invisible forces for this melancholy. While there are seasons in our life when we enjoy the spring of youth, there’s summer of our hardship and the autumn of our growth. Each mincing steps helps you to move ahead in journey of life. The journey is long or short but cannot have monotony. Visionaries, literary experts, celebrated poets or common multitude anyone if you have a rendezvous at the end of their journey will voice out in their thoughts that the wealth, prestige and rat race for which they toiled day and night , became ruthless to achieve has never culminated to be their permanent source of happiness. When I rest on my recliner today ,I am trying to re collect and recapitulate the meaning of life for me, This is my moment of truth. I have to draw away the curtain of darkness and immerge from the illusion of unnecessary sadness. Question myself why failure, loss does, rejection makes me feel dejected. The answer is because of our perception of life and the yardsticks which we have set for success. The very second you start thinking about this, that is your first move towards a contended happy life. Let life be an unending festivity of celebration; celebration of our sorrows more than our joys. No matter what comes, whether you are a loner your journey will have wintery as well as rainy days but your spirits will have only sunny days. Change your perspective, re phrase your interpretations of life. Rejuvenate your will power every day.” Be the change” and celebrate your life, “your joys and sorrows” Mrs. Bandana Jha Ex-Teacher Std XII Commerce

  • 13. CAGED This article is an attempt to decode the picture above. The picture imparts a deep message to the mankind that the present condition is nothing but a consequence of our collective actions over the course of hundreds of years. So, let's begin with the decoding. The evolution of Mother Earth began long, long years ago about 4.5 billon years ago, with the Big bang which gave birth to this Universe. The solar system has a magical planet called EARTH; the only planet capable of sustaining life. The evolution of life on Earth began 3.8 billion years ago, with plants and microorganisms growing and multiplying. From about 6.2 million years mankind began taking its shape. Earlier mankind went hand in hand with nature and the creatures of nature but soon with the passing time and growth of intellectual, mankind started ruling over nature. Earlier mankind was one with nature but now mankind has evolved and developed so much that we have reached the Moon and Mars. Mother Earth, we call our planet for it gives us birth, nurtures us and takes care of us. We are made up of soil and to it we shall return. Growth in the material front has made life convenient and comfortable but at the same time it has cursed our nature. The above picture depicts aptly the present condition of mankind where we are locked within the four walls of our houses and the other creatures of nature are enjoying their well-deserved freedom. Mankind is finally caged into the cage which it has built for the other creatures to prove its superiority throughout the course of recent history. We humans kept on destroying Mother Earth to fulfil our selfish motives of comfort and luxury. The present condition of the world is devastating the normal livelihood of Humans. Mankind is facing a serious threat of pandemic coronavirus. It has proven to be a curse on mankind by Mother Earth for hampering the equilibrium of nature. Due to this coronavirus outbreak the whole world of Humans has come to a standstill. But, a positive side to look at is how this time of complete lockdown of human activities is being utilized by the nature to revive and recover itself. Nature is healing it's scares that mankind has been inflicting on it for hundreds of years. The melodious chirping of the birds, the gentle cool breeze caressing the trees, the lucid flow of crystal-clear water, the clear blue sky is gaining the momentum of revival. The picture above is a satire on the condition of the humans at present for we are compelled to confine ourselves at a mere cage and watch the world flourish without us. This situation is just a repercussion of our deeds and we should take lessons from the pandemic virus that if we play with nature and it's wonders for our selfish motives then we will not be spared. Ending on an optimistic note, let us all hope that we are able to come out of this pandemic situation victorious very soon but this time with more compassion and empathy for our nature. Let's pledge not to disturb the equilibrium of nature and to be one with nature. Kudos to the corona- warriors and good luck to mankind! • 14. Page 14 Alumni Association of Gulmohur Fire Inside Out I am not the phoenix, who rises from the ashes, But I am born of the fire in my mother's belly. The blood through my veins burns with passion, For I am a warrior in disguise surely. I am not the wild fire that destroys the luscious green fields, But I am the flame that gives birth to life. I am the warmth that is kissed by my soft lips, For I into chastity dive. I am not the lightening that makes the sky eerie, But I am the flicking candle that drives away the darkness. I am the source of fire that makes you merry, On a snow-covered night when there are lost voices in the wilderness. I am not the spark that leaves someone homeless, But I am the whole universe that provides comfort and shelter. I am the path-guiding light for someone who is all a mess, For I build castle from glasses that earlier shattered. I am not the funeral fire that burns the body to ashes, But I am the immortal flame that lives in the soul. I am the fire of resurrection, liberty and knowledge, I am the fire that reflects in my eyes and illuminates my soul. Shreya Chakraborty Former Head Girl, Batch 2017 The Endless Have you seen the rose, Blooming in the full spring. Spreading it's fragrance till far Look, how the birds surround her and sing. Sun's rays refreshed her up, Bees buzz around for nectar. Her beauty seems endless, infinite, Look, how her petals reflects the colour. You came near to her, Enchanted by her beauty. Captured by the aroma. Look, how she continues for you ,her duty. You took her in hands, She is still happily aromatic. Thinking of getting an extra care and love, Look, how the rose feels the warmth of your hands. Sun sets and the rose dry up, You threw her out from hands. In place of keeping it in a diary, Look, how you feel satisfied but actually misunderstand. Look, how beautiful and pure the rose was there. Abhishek Nandi Batch 2017

Does a smiling face really shows how happy one is, Or it’s just a way to fool people around? Is it that a person with a smile represents "everything is fine?", Or is there major battles going on inside? Well, this doesn't need a answer coz we know it very well. Fighting with fears, Overcoming all insecurities, Convincing oneself that everything's gonna be fine, Holding on to it emotions, Trying to show that you are strong, when you know how helpless you are. Eagerly looking for a shoulder to cry on, When unfortunately you cannot.... Looking for a partner to share your thoughts, Meanwhile fearing whether someone will really understand you or not? Going through so many battles inside, With a sweet innocent smile that is visible outside. Smriti Sahu Batch 2018 Growing up The next four years start here. They say these years will be the best years of our lives, but others may think it's just another few years of throwing knives. So hold onto the memories already made, because soon it will all fade. A journey of escape beyond the harsh reality is what I was told, A journey from my less desired conscious to a much more loved subconscious is what I told them . I had a dream, To ride to a world where I'll drive my own destiny and be spectator to none. To run away to a place where things will be in my control and I alone will take charge of all the things that I had ever done. I dreamt of being the captain to my enormous vessel of insecurities and traumas and sail it away to a destination unknown, catching sight to that only when I needed most. I desire to live my dream of being the pilot of a fighter airplane displaying the dogfight of my rights and wrongs constantly fighting an unsung battle in my silenced amphitheatre in the darkest winter night. I had a dream, A dream to travel to an another place A place where hopes and wishes have not yet missed their flight. A place where anticipated life motivation is displayed in big bold italics in the board of isolation that is yet to be liked. A place where the signboards of direction always indicate moving forward. A journey into a place where moving backwards is just another combination of misplaced words. A haul through a place where hunger is satiated by getting a taste of their authentic self, dipped in the ketchup of the willingness to change. I had a dream, a dream to have reached a place where: Creation of talents is considered the ultimate blessing People are filled with optimistic virtues rather than pessimistic beliefs. People move on instead of sulking over the mistakes once committed. I had a dream to settle in a world where: For every beginning there is a yet more creative ending; For every difficult start there is a fulfilling end; For every unsung battle some words that needs to be said. I had a dream; A dream of a yet another universe is what I said. Pallavi Sarkar Batch 2018
