3. What is Binge Drinking?
• Males: 5 or more drinks in one sitting
• Females: 4 or more drinks in one siting
• This can cause teens to pass out, black out,
feel sick, miss school, or act not like
themselves
4. Car Accidents(DUI)
• 1/3 of the people in the U.S. in 2009 have die
from car accidents having a blood alcohol level
that is over the legal limit with aging between
21-24 years old
• Judgments people make under the influence
are slowed down and not accurate to the
normal decisions some one would make sober
5. Why does alcohol contribute to
Violent Behaviors?
• Young people who drink are more likely to be
victims of violent crimes
• Alcohol increases blood pressure and it slows
down the mind due to being an
antidepressant
6. Signs of Alcohol Poisoning
• Alcohol is a central nervous system
depressant, drinking too much, too fast may
lead to unconsciousness
• Unconscious or semiconscious state
• Cold, clammy, pale, or bluish skin
• A strong odor of alcohol on the breath and
coming from the skin
7. Effects of Long Term Addiction
• Some researchers believe that drinking heavily
at a young age(18-24 years of age) may lead to
permanent brain damage
• This includes loss of memory and loss of
coordination
8. What is the average age of teens who
start drinking alcohol?
• Girls
– Average age having first drink 13.
– Depending on environment as early as 11.
• Boys
- Average age having first drink 11.
- Both between ages of 12-20 have consumed
alcohol at least once.
9. Consequences of Early Use
• Become involved in violent behaviors
• Attempt Suicide
• Engage in unprotected sex
• Engage in promiscuity
• Develop permanent alcohol problems

heart as it has
antioxidants that
prevent heart disease
• I Disagree with
underage drinking
because it is proven
that it may lead to
other issues latter in life
• I also disagree with
binge drinking as it may
lead to getting sick or
worse blacking out and
death.

-George Bernard Shaw
• This quote jumped out at me because he relates
the idea that life is an operation, that a doctor is
about to do surgery on you and you need
anesthesia but in this surgery the doctor is life
and the anesthesia is alcohol
• In life people can choose their own “anesthesia”
whether it’s drinking alcohol or going for a walk
or just eating food
