1. ONLINE/DIGITAL texts and postmodernism
Working alone or in pairs to create a 5 minute keynote/powerpoint/prezi presentation (include
images/video etc) for your colleagues in the class that will educate, inform and entertain.
Your topic is highlighted below – if you are working with someone who has a different topic, then
you decide which of those two you will.
You will need to ‘hand in’ your presentation digitally as I will be adding them to the blog. If you do a
prezi I will need the url.
Select a recently released COMPUTER GAME that you know well. How is it postmodern? And how
does it reflect a postmodern society?
How is SECOND LIFE AND SIMS postmodern? And how does it reflect a postmodern society?
How is YOUTUBE postmodern? And how does it reflect a postmodern society?
How is WORLD OF WARCRAFT (OR A SIMILAR ONLINE ROLE PLAYING GAME – MMOG)
postmodern? And how does it reflect a postmodern society?
How is the SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE TWITTER postmodern? And how does it reflect a
postmodern society?
How is the SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE FACEBOOK postmodern? And how does it reflect a
postmodern society?
Remember to use your postmodernism checklist, your notes on previous texts we have studied and
apply Strinati/ Baudrillard/ Lyotard etc wherever possible. If you can’t remember some of the
theories or ideas go to the blog and ‘remind’ yourself!
If you can, make links to the TV, Music and film texts we have studied. Use still and moving images,
links to further information online and anything else that will be useful as a teaching tool. Give lots
of examples to support your argument about how this online / digital text is postmodern.
