They are the descendants of Turkish nomads from
Central Asia and the many ethnic groups that
inhabited the former Ottoman Empire .

World located on two continents,
Asia and Europe.
Founded in 659 B.C., It was the capital of
the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) and
Ottoman Empires since 330 A.D.

Julius Caesar uttered his famous words: “Veni,
Vidi, Vici.” (I came, I saw, I conquered) in 47 B.C.
After defeating Pharnaces II, the ruler of Pontus,
which was a north-eastern province of Asia Minor
on the southern cast of the Black sea.
This ancient city, founded at Gaziantep on the
shallowest part along the shores of the River
Euphrates in 300 B.C, was conquered by the Romans
in the 1st century B.C and renamed Zeugma.
At the time, with a population of over 80.000,
Zeugma was one of the largest cities in the
world, bigger than Pompei and Londinium
(London) and as big as Athens.
St. Nicholas, who became popular as santa
Claus, was born in Demre on Turkey’s
Mediterranen Coast.
Turks gave the Dutch their
famous tulips.
The last home of virgin Mary is believed to
be in Selchuk (Ephesus) Turkey.
According to the researches Noah’s
Ark landed on Ağrı Dağı (Mount
Ararat) in Eastern Turkey.
Ashure, a pudding with 20 ingredients, said to
have been the last meal on Noah’s Ark, is still
served throughout Turkey.
St John, St Nicholas, St Paul and St Peter all
lived and prayed in southern Anatolia.
Marc Anthony gave Cleopatra part of
Turkey’s southern shore as a wedding gift.
Homer was born in

part of the Turkish
culture.

called Nasreddin
Hodja who has lived
in central Turkey, in
the small town
called Aksehir. The
jokes were part of
his daily life.
Mevlana was not only a great poet and
philosopher but first and foremost he was a
mystic, a spiritually touched man.
His mind and heart had reached for heights and
depths of the spiritual world.
The universality of his thought finds its
reflection in, for example, the famous verses
where he says:
Come!
Come whoever you are.
Doesn't matter if you are an unbeliever.
Doesn't matter if you have fallen a thousand
times.

For this is not the door of hopelessness.
