3. The Facts
• The U.S. is competing in a global economy
• The U.S. lost more than a quarter of its high-tech
manufacturing jobs to China and other countries
during the last decade
• Study – More than 40% of U.S. high school students
enter the workforce deficiently prepared for entry-
level jobs
• The future workforce is here, and it is ill-prepared
4. Observations
• Over 75% of executives believe that critical thinking
skills will become more important to their
organizations in the next three to five years
• 81% of CEOs surveyed consider innovation to be the
single most important factor to ensure the future
success of their business
• Workplace readiness skills including
communication, organization, research, group
participation and leadership, are essential
• Workplace readiness skills are not measured by the
National Center for Education Statistics

The U.S. must address the growing mismatch between
the skills the marketplace demands and the skills the
existing workforce has.
