I Asked this question so that I could see if who I was asking was 17-24 and
liked indie music as this is who my indie magazine is aimed at so I could see
the different opinions of people who are not indie fans and what they think
of the magazine and whether they personally think it fits the indie genre.

• Colour scheme throughout
• Images- bold, confident, unique girl- reflects indie
genre.
• Font- simple-easy to read.
• Not too busy- good amount of information- could add
a few more images to contents to draw me in more.
This shows me that my magazine is mainly appealing to
the people I asked but could improve by adding more
images of indie artists to show more of a variety of
people who have been ‘DISCOVERED’.

I found out from this result that everyone I asked thought my magazine fitted the indie
genre, which make my magazine a success in terms of other peoples opinons meaning
i achieved my aim to make it look like a real indie magazine.

I found from this result that all of the people I asked about my magazine thought
the images worked well or very well meaning I chose the best images from all of
the images I originally took.

• The image- draws you into the magazine to

• The masthead- bold and gets your attention.
• In the image she is holding a guitar which
reflects the genre (indie).
• Colours- like other music magazines, so
enables the us to see what kind of magazine it

These results show me that most of the aspects on my front cover, work
and fit the genre showing I have achieved my aim according to these

This shows me that people like cheaper magazines in this age group, maybe due
to the amount of money they have, showing the price I picked was suitable and
would appeal to people looking to buy a music magazine.

From these results I can see that different people liked different parts of the
magazine, but overall most people (14 out of 20) like the images the best showing my
images are successful and draw the audience in/appeal to them.

Why? – Not too long, language used is simple and easy to read, the image next to the
article draws you in, I would want to find out about the cover artist.
These results show me that the way I have laid out the double page spread would entice them to
read the article as there is not much writing and the image goes along side it. This shows that I
have followed magazine conventions and my audience likes this.

This shows me that the way I have laid out my pages has been successful as I tried to
follow magazine conventions and mix it up a bit in parts but is still appealing to the

This shows me that the majority (all but 1 person) think the colour scheme works
making it overall successful as I have used only around four colours keeping it simple

Why/why not?- Yes- Images draw me in, not to bright with only a few colours, cover lines
appeal to me, would want to read on, price is good for a music magazine.
No- Would want artists from other genres featured (by name) on front cover to entice me
to read on, more colour needed to attract me.
This shows me that most people are drawn in by everything on the front cover but some find that it doesn’t fit what they are
looking for in a magazine, this shows me it may not appeal to people that do not really like indie music at all.

This shows my colour theme is obvious and people have noticed that it all links making it

This shows me that I have been successful in making it look indie and this is
important as it is my chosen genre and if it did not fit this then it would not be a
good magazine that would sell if it was on a shop shelf.
18. Overall, I have found from my questionnaire that
my magazine appeals to my target audience
and fits with the indie genre as a whole
magazine, making my magazine successful for
me as my audience think that it is effective
and works as a real magazine. This
questionnaire has helped me to see if
everything works well or not and has helped
me with what I could have done to make it
even better.
