College Admissions Essay: To Be A Good Student
There have been abundant amount of times where I have been called fabricated, mean, goodie
goodie, teacher's pet, or stupid. While some of these might be true, they certainly aren't all true. I
do consider myself to be a good student and I try to get all of my work done and never get in
trouble, but I have forgotten to turn work in, or just forgot to do it in general. When I think of a
goodie goodie, I think of someone who gets all their work done, gets 100% constantly, never gets
in trouble, and pays attention in class. I don't consider myself to be a teacher's pet either. I do like
to do what the teacher asks but I consider that to be a good, responsible, cooperative student, not a
teacher's pet. I don't consider myself to be fabricated,

Describe Myself As A Student
Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from
your personal academic and non–academic experiences.
A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition
in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning
is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable,
challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors
Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think,
present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the
ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve
that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is
preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a
career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to
accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic
decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so,
I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I
expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions

Characteristics Of A Successful Student
Successful and Unsuccessful Students Are Not Very Different
Success is a virtue that a majority of students would like to obtain. Success can lead to many great
opportunities, and success can build great character in a person. Unsuccessful people tend to be less
optimistic, and they can be harder to get along with. Successful students are dedicated and are
always willing to help others. Unsuccessful students are lethargic, and some unsuccessful students
can even be selfish or lonely. Home life can affect a students outlook on school in many different
ways. Successful and unsuccessful students are very different academically, but when they are
emerged together they are not very different at all.
Determination is the number one characteristic of a successful student. Students that care about their
grades put forth the effort to do well in all aspects of their lives. Determined students always put
forth their best efforts by, for example, staying on top of tasks that need to be done or studying
material that they do not completely understand. There are many other ways that a successful
student shows dedication and determination in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Students can show dedication by supporting and helping their peers with school work. Successful
students care about others, and they will help others prosper in school also. Students that want to do
good in life normally wish for others to succeed as well. Successful students can learn and obtain this

"I didn't study for the test. Do you think you could send me a picture of the answers" This one
single line has been heard in schools everywhere. The pressure on students to get good grades leaves
a negative effect on students. The pressure starts while they are young and builds up as students get
older. Students can only take so much pressure until they go through a burn out. This is what often
leads to some students dropping out of high school. The pressure that is put on students to get good
grades often leads to depression, anger, and cheating.

Students of all ages will do almost anything to get the highest grade possible.
The pressure that is put on by parents also leads to a lot of stress. "Pressure for good grades often
lead to high stress and cheating" the title of the Stanford News articles. The article mentions how
students tend to try and find loopholes in the education system. High school is a prime example of
pressure put on students to get good grades. High school students are typically concerned with their
GPA, ACT's, SAT's. Not to mention college admissions and many other variables. "Pressure by
parents and schools to achieve top scores have created stress levels among students– beginning as
early as elementary school– that are so high, that some educators regard it as a health epidemic".
(Palmer 1) This quote is from Denise Clark, the author of the famously known book, 'Doing School'.
In her lecture, she shows how these pressures can overwhelm the students.
Secondly, Pressure that is put on students to get good grades commonly leads to sadness or even
depression. Students often procrastinate and eventually they become overwhelmed. When students
become overwhelmed, they often start to think that things are falling apart or they fall into
depression. Depression can lead to more stress. Students may become depressed or sad when they
get a bad grade. This causes the students to turn to cheating in order to receive a better one. Finally,

Why Grades Are Important Essay
Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no
grades why the students would like to work hard? Do not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in
their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not
judge themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the
students comparatively and gives grades to them accordingly. In this way, by receiving their grades
students recognize their positions in the class. If their positions came to be low, they then try to
achieve higher positions by working hard because they want to achieve their goal of becoming great
persons. As it is the nature of all the human beings that no...show more content...

able to get high money by producing a good variety of crops he will probably increase his
working hours to achieve his purpose because he does his work only for earning money to live in.
Similar is the case with the students. Students work because they want their instructor to give
them high grades. Their future career depends on their grades they have made at this level. If
they got high grade their future will be bright because everyone gives credit to grades. Therefore,
if students will get credit for their work they will work even better for getting more and more
credit. Otherwise, they will shirk work hard. Furthermore, God will also give rewards to those
people who have done good deeds in this world. That is why; all people do their best of doing good
deeds so that they may be able to get reward from God on their sacrifices and hardships. If there
would be no reward from God, no one would want to do good deeds by facing hardships. Every
one would be free to committing sins or other bad deeds which will results in turmoil of the world.
Same is the case with the students. If the instructor gives them grades for their individual work they

Why I Should Be Considered For Student Council
I should be considered for the Student Council because I feel that this is a great opportunity, I put
a lot of effort in school, and I show great character. I also show great scholarship and leadership. I
feel that this is a great opportunity because it gives me something to look back on when I'm older of
how I did good in school. It also is great to put on college applications when older. Being accepted
onto the student council would be an honor because I love participating and joining clubs and
events for school. I put tremendous effort into school by joining clubs such as Executive Counsel,

thoughts, and clean their room. Acting on these bodily instincts are good ways for students to
recognize their needs and to retain back positive self–esteem. Students should also heavily focus on
their diets. Individuals who make healthy choices with their fitness and diet will find that they feel
better about themselves. To keep a strong mind people need to consume the right foods and always
make time in their busy schedules for exercise. Completing these simple tasks can boost a student's
self–esteem and make sure they are performing at optimal level. In our society today, more students
are daily telling themselves that they are not worthy or not smart enough. These negative thoughts
people tell themselves are the number one force that can destroy one's self–esteem. Students should
really attempt to use positive self–talk as much as possible. Positive self–talk is defined as any time
in which individuals think or talk to themselves in a beneficial manner. Students should start off
everyday on a positive note. Simply waking up and starting mornings on a high note can make the
day run much more smoothly. Students should not

My Life As A Student
My life as a student has been a fairly good one. I've received good grades throughout all my years
of high school and pride myself as an intelligent individual. But my individual ability to grow and
learn has been always changing and shifting as I have grown. I think that currently, I am at a low
point in my mindset and learning ability, but there is hope on the horizon. This essay will explore
the growth and mindset of Will Roser, and how I can grow as a learner, friend, and individual. As
a student, I have some habits that I rely on, both good and bad. I am usually a good student,
receiving above average grades and I am moderately happy with them. My strength is that I
always get everything done on time. I never have an excuse because my work is always done. I
pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I
procrastinate so much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work
which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep schedule. I tend to do most of
my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier.
Luckily I have hope for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I
think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of starting work early. As William
James says in his essay Habit, "The period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the

How to be a Good College Student Essay
How to be a Good College Student
College is a competitive environment; in order to succeed in it a student needs certain skills. Those
skills can only be learned. A college professor mentioned that there five basic rules that need to be
followed in order to become a good student: study, do all the homework and the assigned reading,
attend class, and, most importantly, develop self–discipline and time management 1. In the following
lines, a detailed analysis of those different steps will be done. So, let's get started. First, we
mentioned study. A good student has to do study everyday. Study involves reading thetextbooks,
understand them, be able to explain it to others and sometimes memorize the most important
concepts. As a...show more content...
The textbooks are usually large. The lecture giving by the teacher usually is a summary of the
textbook. When revising for the exam, it will be a lot easier for the student to cover the material.
Finally, we also mentioned the importance of time management and self–discipline. A student will
manage very well his/her time by identifying best time for studying, using distributed learning and
practice means study in shorter time blocks with shorts breaks between, reducing distractions which
can waste time, making room for entertainment and relaxation, making sure there is time to sleep
and eat properly and try to combine activities. For example, if a student is spending time in the
Laundromat, he/she can bring his psychology book to read. Managing time takes self discipline.
The same professor cited before said that "people who seem to have less difficulty with
self–discipline probably have simply had more practice at it". So, practice is what it takes to have
self–discipline.
In conclusion, it is clear that being a good college student is not an easy task. It required good study
habit, class attendance, time management and self–discipline. It is not easy but it worth the hard
work. Because, as Jerome R. Breitenbach wrote, "the education you receive in college, and the
attitude you develop, will guide you for the rest of your life. Your grades will be especially
important in landing your first job, or when applying to graduate

How to Be A Good Student
To become a success in life, we all need to learn to become a good student in every aspect of life.
Becoming a good student takes much work and self–discipline. There are many ways that a student
can stand out from the rest of the class. These good students are distinguished by their attitude,
intellectual skills, consciousness, and achievement.
Attitude is primarily a genuine desire to learn and the will to do hard academic work to achieve
understanding. It is also shown by how well you apply yourself even to subjects in which you have
little interest and how much you can achieve even when a teacher's style is not what you are used to.
Also attitude can change the way you percieveperceive things...show more content...
No one else can help you to attain a good attitude, you must decide and make it a goal to have a
good attitude in your student life. (CS)
Intellectual skills is (S–V Agr) another important aspect of becoming a good student. This skill
includes the ability to read and understand, intelligent use of resources, mathematical and logical
skills, efficient study habits, and the ability to communicate clearly and fluently. Intellectual skills
include time management, exam strategies, study strategies, and goal setting.
Consciousness, or awareness, is another helpful aspect of becoming a good student. The good
student must be aware of their (agr) surroundings and know what is going on in the world around
them. We must strive to relate what is happening around us to what we are learning. This should be
important to us because we should care about what is going on politically, academically, socially,
and spiritually. Being aware and paying attention is a good trait to continually learn and apply.
Achievement is demonstrated by successful application of understanding. This aspect includes using
correct and confident knowledge, effective communication, and continuanceing of education through
out your life. Achievement gives you a sense of accomplishment and meaning. To become a good
student, this must be a goal that you wish to accomplish.

it takes hard work, determination, and patience.
Being a successful student may involve some of the characteristics such as: organization, time,

Studying skills will help you be more successful as well, there is also to much studying. To much
studying can cause stress, and dense learning habits, also pushing your self to hard may ruin
learning skills and cause your self to feel bad, or not as intelligent. Study skills for tests, quizzes,
and exams is very important. Evenly spreading out study time will increase memory of the
subjects you learn. Taking frequent breaks will make studying less stressful. Using flash cards,
web sites, computers, or just a pencil and paper are all great ways to study. Having an answer sheet
to refer to, and look over when your done will also help study and learning skills because it can help
you see what you did wrong and need to fix. Having a study group or club before big tests, like
exams or diplomas, will help you have more fun with your friends when studying.
Also study at home with adults to help you. Having friends to study with will increase your
enjoyment of learning, and learning to learn. Doing homework right after you get home from school
is good because you might still remember what to do and what you need to study. Doing
homework in the morning can make it less likely for you to sleep or enjoy your day. If you enjoy
writing or reading a job may be based on writing in a future date, but if you dislike reading you
might want a job such as a doctor.

Qualities of a Successful Student
"Success is not an accident, it is hard work, perseverance, learning studying, sacrifice and most of
all, love of what you are doing "– PelГ©, soccer legend
Success isn't something you can frame on the wall. It is not something that you can attain one time
and then discards it as being accomplished. It is not gifted to anyone; its hard work which leads to
success because of determination. This is not a social status, no is it due to the amount of money
you make, neither is based on how many languages you speak or how many business you may own.

Lapses in organization, unfortunately can lead to penalties with grades and a self–confidence which
can lead to less success. "Self–discipline is self–caring "– Dr. M. Scott Peck. (American

whether you feel like it or not. Most students want to be successful but wanting and doing are two
worlds apart. Self–discipline is more commitment. Stay focused and be persistent are important
factors that lead any student to become successful.
Successful students know when to ask for help. Students recognize when they need help when some
projects are due on the same day as an exam. Again, students who procrastinate and don't have their
academic activities organized tend to fail. Students who struggle with some courser or some specific
projects stay late or visit their instructor after class regarding to the project. Students do their best to
clarify their mind if their instructor cannot help as much as they wanted to, they follow the next step,
and they go and ask for private tutoring. Most of the institutions offer programs to help students who
are struggling in anyway. The mission of every college or university is to help students to cross the
comfort zone by challenging them to use the resources that the school offered to increase their
education level, maturity level and commitment to perform college work.

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because
only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard
for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to
classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy
lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or
even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have
the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...

feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that
lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive
hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years

But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk.

Students Expect High Grades Essays
Like any student, college students always want the easiest way out and still attain a good grade.
That was basically my experience in high school. Teachers just gave credit to assignments that
seemed like the students put a lot of effort into it. I actually gave advice to underclassmen by
encouraging them to do the work regardless if it is right. I would also receive credit for things that
had nothing to do with materials learning in class. If I had a graduation speech I would really thank
tissue boxes for increasing my grade and passing. In high school, I would slack off all the time and
procrastinated everything. Teachers seemed like they did not care and did not encourage me to stop
those bad habits. Unfortunately, today I still...show more content...
Colleges are providing chances that not everyone in America can attain, but students still do not find
it a reason to go through tedious essays, projects and studying. The author even calls the acts of
college students as "not only self–destructive, but socially destructive" (Wiesenfel). Since today's
pupils are Americas future, we cannot just prestige them if they received a C– in math and science.
These performances should not be acceptable because ones personal fail can lead to a bigger group
fail. Overall, Weisenfel provides a good reasoning from these points. Going more in depth in
Wiesenfels article, what really is the motivation for students wanting and begging for higher grades?
When I was in high school one of my priorities was to just get out of there. High school students
just want to go to college, and college students just want to head to grad school and get a steady
career. To keep progressing onto the next academic level one must be able to have a passing grade
which is a C. The minimum grade is all what California State Universities and other four year
universities ask for. Also, one of the most helpful ways to pay for college is through scholarships.
According to some scholarships many ask higher than a specific grade. Additionally several college
students just "think" they deserve a higher grade. In the article "Students Expect High Grades", it
states that "students surveyed said

My Experience As A College Student Essay
Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been
delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors
practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my
learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I
have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment.
Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process
information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very
relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key
elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will
explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and
self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone
could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of
college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I
attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although
I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class

An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall

my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to

By just going through the motions of coming to work everyday, only getting done what has to be

shows a bit of initiative to gain more knowledge of the job, they may see an opportunity to
slightly move up in the company. The latter is my situation. My experience and knowledge of my
department and its systems have afforded me the opportunity to move up within the department
over the past five years, but I'm beginning to see a limit of how far those skills alone will allow
me to climb. Being an expert in my field of pharmaceutical benefits doesn't translate into managing

The Seven Characteristics Of A Good Student
What kind of Characteristics do you think are required to become a "good" Student? That's a
question that many behaviorists have tried to answer, and according Dr. Maryellen Weimer these
characteristics can be summed up into seven. These characteristics are applied to being a student
with presumably means that it's intended to apply towards all educational subjects. Out of seven
there was one that stood out to me the most and that was "Good learners recognize that a lot of
learning isn't fun". The reason why this one stood out to me the most is because of my own
personal experience in my educational past. In Dr. Weimer article, she lists out seven
Characteristics of a good learner. These consist of multiple traits that good students have, and with
elaborations on why they are vital to a student's ability to learn. The one the stood out to me the
most was Good learns recognize that a lot of learning isn't fun. The description of this characteristic
states that even though the majority of learning has to do with boring repetition and
minding–numbing attention to detail it's what's has to be done for the pieces to come together.
The reason why I personally feel this is the most important is because of my own learning style.
The majority of the work I do is done towards the latter end of the deadline, which means I have to
cram a lot of my work in. When I study it usually within a short time span when I have to really sit

values are percentages of nutrients expressed in amounts per serving. People that eat greasy
foods such has tacos, hamburgers, and French fries tend to have heart burn and increase the
chances of becoming over weight. Has a result of these students usually show signs of being tired
and lazy. On the other hand, food labels tell show ratio of what levels of sodium and other
nutrients are found on the back of every processed and package food item produce. Keep this in
mind your age, height, desired weight, and activity levels determine the daily caloric intake of a
person. A diet consisting of 2000 calories per day diet is a good basis for most college students
who are just beginning to rid themselves of bad eating habits.
When it comes to planning what to eat it can sometimes get uneasy or pleasant the either way it is
important that one should follow a daily routine. Learning what to eat before ingesting food is an
essential part of your diet. Many health experts highly recommend this simple method of diet
prevention. It just takes a minute to plan mentally, or better yet, it only takes a few minutes a day to
keep an eating journal. Tired and stressed students not only eat a lot, they also eat for instant

Essay On Good Student

  • 1. College Admissions Essay: To Be A Good Student There have been abundant amount of times where I have been called fabricated, mean, goodie goodie, teacher's pet, or stupid. While some of these might be true, they certainly aren't all true. I do consider myself to be a good student and I try to get all of my work done and never get in trouble, but I have forgotten to turn work in, or just forgot to do it in general. When I think of a goodie goodie, I think of someone who gets all their work done, gets 100% constantly, never gets in trouble, and pays attention in class. I don't consider myself to be a teacher's pet either. I do like to do what the teacher asks but I consider that to be a good, responsible, cooperative student, not a teacher's pet. I don't consider myself to be fabricated, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Describe Myself As A Student Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from your personal academic and non–academic experiences. A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable, challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think, present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so, I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Characteristics Of A Successful Student Successful and Unsuccessful Students Are Not Very Different Success is a virtue that a majority of students would like to obtain. Success can lead to many great opportunities, and success can build great character in a person. Unsuccessful people tend to be less optimistic, and they can be harder to get along with. Successful students are dedicated and are always willing to help others. Unsuccessful students are lethargic, and some unsuccessful students can even be selfish or lonely. Home life can affect a students outlook on school in many different ways. Successful and unsuccessful students are very different academically, but when they are emerged together they are not very different at all. Determination is the number one characteristic of a successful student. Students that care about their grades put forth the effort to do well in all aspects of their lives. Determined students always put forth their best efforts by, for example, staying on top of tasks that need to be done or studying material that they do not completely understand. There are many other ways that a successful student shows dedication and determination in both academics and extracurricular activities. Students can show dedication by supporting and helping their peers with school work. Successful students care about others, and they will help others prosper in school also. Students that want to do good in life normally wish for others to succeed as well. Successful students can learn and obtain this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. "I didn't study for the test. Do you think you could send me a picture of the answers" This one single line has been heard in schools everywhere. The pressure on students to get good grades leaves a negative effect on students. The pressure starts while they are young and builds up as students get older. Students can only take so much pressure until they go through a burn out. This is what often leads to some students dropping out of high school. The pressure that is put on students to get good grades often leads to depression, anger, and cheating. Cheating is a method that is commonly used when students want to receive a good grade on a test. They often resort to cheating because it is highly effective and their effort is no*t...show more content... Students of all ages will do almost anything to get the highest grade possible. The pressure that is put on by parents also leads to a lot of stress. "Pressure for good grades often lead to high stress and cheating" the title of the Stanford News articles. The article mentions how students tend to try and find loopholes in the education system. High school is a prime example of pressure put on students to get good grades. High school students are typically concerned with their GPA, ACT's, SAT's. Not to mention college admissions and many other variables. "Pressure by parents and schools to achieve top scores have created stress levels among students– beginning as early as elementary school– that are so high, that some educators regard it as a health epidemic". (Palmer 1) This quote is from Denise Clark, the author of the famously known book, 'Doing School'. In her lecture, she shows how these pressures can overwhelm the students. Secondly, Pressure that is put on students to get good grades commonly leads to sadness or even depression. Students often procrastinate and eventually they become overwhelmed. When students become overwhelmed, they often start to think that things are falling apart or they fall into depression. Depression can lead to more stress. Students may become depressed or sad when they get a bad grade. This causes the students to turn to cheating in order to receive a better one. • 5. Why Grades Are Important Essay Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no grades why the students would like to work hard? Do not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not judge themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the students comparatively and gives grades to them accordingly. In this way, by receiving their grades students recognize their positions in the class. If their positions came to be low, they then try to achieve higher positions by working hard because they want to achieve their goal of becoming great persons. As it is the nature of all the human beings that no...show more content... The farmer does his best to make his fields fit for better growth of the crops only in the hope of getting a good variety of crops so that they may help him in earning high money. If he will not be able to get high money by producing a good variety of crops he will probably increase his working hours to achieve his purpose because he does his work only for earning money to live in. Similar is the case with the students. Students work because they want their instructor to give them high grades. Their future career depends on their grades they have made at this level. If they got high grade their future will be bright because everyone gives credit to grades. Therefore, if students will get credit for their work they will work even better for getting more and more credit. Otherwise, they will shirk work hard. Furthermore, God will also give rewards to those people who have done good deeds in this world. That is why; all people do their best of doing good deeds so that they may be able to get reward from God on their sacrifices and hardships. If there would be no reward from God, no one would want to do good deeds by facing hardships. Every one would be free to committing sins or other bad deeds which will results in turmoil of the world. Same is the case with the students. If the instructor gives them grades for their individual work they will Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Why I Should Be Considered For Student Council I should be considered for the Student Council because I feel that this is a great opportunity, I put a lot of effort in school, and I show great character. I also show great scholarship and leadership. I feel that this is a great opportunity because it gives me something to look back on when I'm older of how I did good in school. It also is great to put on college applications when older. Being accepted onto the student council would be an honor because I love participating and joining clubs and events for school. • 8. My Life As A Student My life as a student has been a fairly good one. I've received good grades throughout all my years of high school and pride myself as an intelligent individual. But my individual ability to grow and learn has been always changing and shifting as I have grown. I think that currently, I am at a low point in my mindset and learning ability, but there is hope on the horizon. This essay will explore the growth and mindset of Will Roser, and how I can grow as a learner, friend, and individual. As a student, I have some habits that I rely on, both good and bad. I am usually a good student, receiving above average grades and I am moderately happy with them. My strength is that I always get everything done on time. I never have an excuse because my work is always done. I pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I procrastinate so much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep schedule. I tend to do most of my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier. Luckily I have hope for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of starting work early. • 9. Characteristics Of A Good Student Essay A good student is someone who constantly tries to do the right thing and makes education an important priority. Being a good student in school is an excellent start on having a successful future. Motivation is the key to their success. There are many qualities to be considered a good student. Three of the most important qualities are maintaining good grades, having excellent behavior, and managing your time wisely. Trying to maintain good grades are very important when in school. Having grades like "A's" and "B's" for example will result in having many educational opportunities and rewards. Colleges, job companies, or scholarship committees will review grades and other information on a school transcript to see if that student is eligible and satisfies the requirements needed. GPA stands forgrade point average, so the higher the grade, the higher the GPA will climb up. This results in getting more money for college if the grade point average is an excellent score. There are some events and programs that reward students for having high and excellent grades. The National Honor Society is one of those programs. In order for a student's grade to stay on top, completing school assignments are an essential way to do so. It's not possible to get through or even pass a class without completing assignments. • 10. How to be a Good College Student Essay How to be a Good College Student College is a competitive environment; in order to succeed in it a student needs certain skills. Those skills can only be learned. A college professor mentioned that there five basic rules that need to be followed in order to become a good student: study, do all the homework and the assigned reading, attend class, and, most importantly, develop self–discipline and time management 1. In the following lines, a detailed analysis of those different steps will be done. So, let's get started. First, we mentioned study. A good student has to do study everyday. Study involves reading thetextbooks, understand them, be able to explain it to others and sometimes memorize the most important concepts. As a...show more content... The textbooks are usually large. The lecture giving by the teacher usually is a summary of the textbook. When revising for the exam, it will be a lot easier for the student to cover the material. Finally, we also mentioned the importance of time management and self–discipline. A student will manage very well his/her time by identifying best time for studying, using distributed learning and practice means study in shorter time blocks with shorts breaks between, reducing distractions which can waste time, making room for entertainment and relaxation, making sure there is time to sleep and eat properly and try to combine activities. For example, if a student is spending time in the Laundromat, he/she can bring his psychology book to read. Managing time takes self discipline. The same professor cited before said that "people who seem to have less difficulty with self–discipline probably have simply had more practice at it". So, practice is what it takes to have self–discipline. In conclusion, it is clear that being a good college student is not an easy task. It required good study habit, class attendance, time management and self–discipline. It is not easy but it worth the hard work. Because, as Jerome R. Breitenbach wrote, "the education you receive in college, and the attitude you develop, will guide you for the rest of your life. Becoming a good student takes much work and self–discipline. There are many ways that a student can stand out from the rest of the class. These good students are distinguished by their attitude, intellectual skills, consciousness, and achievement. Attitude is primarily a genuine desire to learn and the will to do hard academic work to achieve understanding. This should be important to us because we should care about what is going on politically, academically, socially, and spiritually. Being aware and paying attention is a good trait to continually learn and apply. Achievement is demonstrated by successful application of understanding. This aspect includes using correct and confident knowledge, effective communication, and continuanceing of education through out your life. Having a study group or club before big tests, like exams or diplomas, will help you have more fun with your friends when studying. Also study at home with adults to help you. Having friends to study with will increase your enjoyment of learning, and learning to learn. Doing homework right after you get home from school is good because you might still remember what to do and what you need to study. Lapses in organization, unfortunately can lead to penalties with grades and a self–confidence which can lead to less success. "Self–discipline is self–caring "– Dr. M. Scott Peck. (American psychiatrist).Success takes self–discipline, which is the willingness to do whatever has to be done, whether you feel like it or not. Most students want to be successful but wanting and doing are two worlds apart. Self–discipline is more commitment. Stay focused and be persistent are important factors that lead any student to become successful. Successful students know when to ask for help. Students recognize when they need help when some projects are due on the same day as an exam. Again, students who procrastinate and don't have their academic activities organized tend to fail. Students who struggle with some courser or some specific projects stay late or visit their instructor after class regarding to the project. Students do their best to clarify their mind if their instructor cannot help as much as they wanted to, they follow the next step, and they go and ask for private tutoring. Most of the institutions offer programs to help students who are struggling in anyway. The mission of every college or university is to help students to cross the comfort zone by challenging them to use the resources that the school offered to increase their education level, maturity level and commitment to perform college work. • 14. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? • 15. Students Expect High Grades Essays Like any student, college students always want the easiest way out and still attain a good grade. That was basically my experience in high school. Teachers just gave credit to assignments that seemed like the students put a lot of effort into it. I actually gave advice to underclassmen by encouraging them to do the work regardless if it is right. I would also receive credit for things that had nothing to do with materials learning in class. If I had a graduation speech I would really thank tissue boxes for increasing my grade and passing. In high school, I would slack off all the time and procrastinated everything. Teachers seemed like they did not care and did not encourage me to stop those bad habits. Unfortunately, today I still...show more content... Colleges are providing chances that not everyone in America can attain, but students still do not find it a reason to go through tedious essays, projects and studying. The author even calls the acts of college students as "not only self–destructive, but socially destructive" (Wiesenfel). Since today's pupils are Americas future, we cannot just prestige them if they received a C– in math and science. These performances should not be acceptable because ones personal fail can lead to a bigger group fail. Overall, Weisenfel provides a good reasoning from these points. Going more in depth in Wiesenfels article, what really is the motivation for students wanting and begging for higher grades? When I was in high school one of my priorities was to just get out of there. High school students just want to go to college, and college students just want to head to grad school and get a steady career. To keep progressing onto the next academic level one must be able to have a passing grade which is a C. The minimum grade is all what California State Universities and other four year universities ask for. Also, one of the most helpful ways to pay for college is through scholarships. According to some scholarships many ask higher than a specific grade. Additionally several college students just "think" they deserve a higher grade. In the article "Students Expect High Grades", it states that "students surveyed said Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Experience As A College Student Essay Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment. Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class assignments was horrendous. I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Personal Goals as a Student Essay My Personal Goals as a Student An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started. Already having experience in the business world has proven to me that it is essential to have skills to maintain and improve daily functions. Three skills I'd personally like to improve on are my organizational, time management, and presentation...show more content... By just going through the motions of coming to work everyday, only getting done what has to be done, and going home at the end of the day, one might realize that an everyday routine can quickly turn into a mundane professional life. At the same time, if a person does all of these things, but shows a bit of initiative to gain more knowledge of the job, they may see an opportunity to slightly move up in the company. The latter is my situation. My experience and knowledge of my department and its systems have afforded me the opportunity to move up within the department over the past five years, but I'm beginning to see a limit of how far those skills alone will allow me to climb. Being an expert in my field of pharmaceutical benefits doesn't translate into managing personnel just as knowing how to complete a task doesn't mean I'm able to give a clear presentation on how it should be done. Sure, I've been rewarded for the work I've done and knowledge I've obtained, but at some point, my employer will eventually see that more is needed to continue to promote me to higher, more management focused positions. My goal is to complete these courses and obtain my degree to prove that, if the situation arises, I can be the right person for the job. A more personal goal of mine is to finish what I've started. • 18. Characteristics Of A Good Student Essay A good student is someone who always tries to do the right thing and makes education an important priority. Being a good student in school is an excellent start on having a successful future. Motivation is the key to their success. There are many qualities to be considered a good student. Three of the most important qualities are maintaining good grades, having excellent behavior, and managing your time wisely. Trying to maintain good grades is very important when in school. Having grades like "A's" and "B's" for example will result in having many educational opportunities and rewards. Colleges, job companies, or scholarship committees will review grades and other information on a school transcript to see if that student is eligible and satisfy the requirements needed. Usually, the class expectations will say for example quizzes are twenty–five percent, homework or classwork is fifteen percent, and tests are forty percent when it comes to grading work. What if the student just focuses on the bigger percentage? Even though the bigger percent has more impact on a student's grade, the smaller grade percentages can still affect the student if it has not been completed at all because it adds up and it still badly affects the grade. This is why completing assignments are important. Participation in a class setting will improve a student's grade because getting involved in the class discussions will help to understand the subject better. Some teachers even grade on participation, which can be an easy "A". The next quality of becoming a good student is the type of behavior you must show. Being respectful in the classroom is important because if a student is sent out for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. The Seven Characteristics Of A Good Student What kind of Characteristics do you think are required to become a "good" Student? That's a question that many behaviorists have tried to answer, and according Dr. Maryellen Weimer these characteristics can be summed up into seven. These characteristics are applied to being a student with presumably means that it's intended to apply towards all educational subjects. Out of seven there was one that stood out to me the most and that was "Good learners recognize that a lot of learning isn't fun". The reason why this one stood out to me the most is because of my own personal experience in my educational past. In Dr. Weimer article, she lists out seven Characteristics of a good learner. These consist of multiple traits that good students have, and with elaborations on why they are vital to a student's ability to learn. The one the stood out to me the most was Good learns recognize that a lot of learning isn't fun. The description of this characteristic states that even though the majority of learning has to do with boring repetition and minding–numbing attention to detail it's what's has to be done for the pieces to come together. The reason why I personally feel this is the most important is because of my own learning style. The majority of the work I do is done towards the latter end of the deadline, which means I have to cram a lot of my work in. When I study it usually within a short time span when I have to really sit down without any distractions and hammer out the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
