Photosynthesis occurs in plants through three stages: in the first stage, sunlight is captured by chlorophyll in the leaves. In the second stage, this light energy is converted into chemical energy that is temporarily stored in molecules. In the third stage, glucose is produced as the chemical energy from the previous stage is used to build carbohydrates, storing the energy from the sun.
