The student evaluated their magazine production project. Their research helped inform the magazine design by selecting elements from other magazines. Planning the design early made creating the magazine easier. The student managed their time well but felt they spent too long on initial plans and research. Peer feedback noted the magazine title could be bolder and the double page spread could use more images and text to fill empty space. The student agreed the title could be bolder and more images were needed on the double page.
3. Research
• The research helped me get an idea of what my magazine
mite look like. I picked different elements of the products I
research and used them in my product. The research also
helped me see what looks good in a magazine. If I did it again I
would explain why they use some features in magazines.
4. Planning
• The planning was helpful, because when I actual started
making my magazine, I didn’t have to think about what font I
should use because I had already decided, which made
making the product a lot easier. It also enabled to see what
my product would look like, and let me see if something didn’t
look right.
5. Time Management
• I think I managed my time well but I could have done it a bit
better, as at some points I started running behind. I should
have spent a little less time on some PowerPoints, as I
definitely spent too much time on initial plans and research.
6. Technical Qualities
They both show the
name of the magazine
at the top of the page,
there is a tital for the
magazine, they both
show a character from
the game in the centre
of the page.
They both show the same
game on the front cover,
and the same character.
They both also have the
magazine name at the
top of the page.
They both use the video games font for the tital,
the magazine name is at the top of the page,
and a character from the game is placed in the
centre of the page.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the tital for the
magazine that I have
created, it looks real and
looks unique. I wouldn’t
change it even if I had
more time to work on it.
I like what I have done
with the tital of the
magazine as it has the
same font as the
games.
I added advertisements
at the sides of the page
to make the product
look like a real
magazine. It also fills
the page leave no open
spaces.
8. Audience Appeal
I used bright colour
to appeal to the
female audience.
I appealed to the male
audience by using a
male character in the
centre of the front
cover.
It appeals to the 15-20
audience because the
game I have advertised on
the font cover is an 18.
The title is a term used in
video games, so its very
eye catching if someone
who likes video games
sees it.
The colour red also tell
the audience that its
not a happy, joyful
game, but a violent
bloody game, which will
appeal to some
audience members
Some audience
members may also
recognize the logos
for other games or
give away.
The console advertised
will appeal to audience
members who are fans
of it.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Well I personally liked how the whole magazine uses
the same colours throughout, I also like how the main
image overlaps the assassins creed symbol at the top.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think the logo could’ve been bolder to make it
more visible.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The main title is very clearly a gamers magazine
because of the text we see it is in the actual gaming
texts and it is set out very well and catches the eye.
– The double page is informative and shows images of
the game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• The Double page spread type face is a little hard
to read and there’s quite a lot of space on the
page so it looks more empty than it actually did.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– What I like about the front cover is the colours used are bold but also
quite bright and would stand out to the target audience I also like the
images used and how the text fits in well with the layout and
background of the front cover.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• The improvements that could have been made on the double page spread are,
more text could have been written and it looks quite bare, also more images
and colour could of ben used to make it look more welcoming to the reader,
and I think this would “up” the attraction to the magazine when it comes to
the target audience.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that I should filled out the empty space on
the double page.
– And I agree that I should have made the magazine
title font bolder.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree that I should have written more on the
double page, as I did write a lot.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would add more images to the double page, to fill out the empty
space. I would make the title of the magazine a lot more bold, to
make it stand out more. I would also add some brighter colours to the
double page.
