“Need to know” frame of mind
Inquiry to learn and create something new
Critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and
communication are required

Some element of student voice and choice
Integrates feedback and revision
End result is a publicly presented product or
performance
5. Reason to Use PBL
Deeper understanding of concepts and standards
Build essential workplace skills and lifelong learning
practices
Motivates students who may find school meaningless
or boring
Allows students to address various topics like:
community issues, career paths, technology, etc.
6. How can you use PBL
You may use as primary instructional method
You may use occasionally during school year.
Projects very in length, so you can choose to meet
your time needs
Can be effective at all grade levels and with all topics
