Brazil is the largest economy in South America with a GDP of USD 1.8 trillion and population of 206 million. While Brazil experienced economic challenges in recent years due to falling commodity prices, the new government is implementing reforms and increasing infrastructure investment to support economic recovery anticipated from 2017 onward. A key initiative is the new Investment Partnership Program which aims to increase private investment in infrastructure through privatization, concessions, and public-private partnerships.
