though we thought there were
almost none
The team is composed
of positive deviants in
saving behavior
Let’s make low income
people save more

5. User experience and what to
prototype
Grandpa, tell me a story
The selected idea (see next slide)
6. Our solution: A saving accounts associated to the discount card of
low-price supermarkets (e.g. Minipreço, Portugal). The account
holds 10 to 20% of the each purchase. After a fixed amount has
been reached or after a fixed period, the savings can be used for
purchase in the supermarket.
1st prototype: A story.
Other types (exc. diagram)
weren’t suitable due to
bureaucracies with
supermarkets
Link: 1st prototype
7. Improving the 1st prototype
It needs more
incentives e.g. buy
with discounts
It should include
other people not
only low income
It couldn’t compete
with bank products
It should allow to
buy in other shops
People might not
trust a supermarket
