Inject molding growth outlook in GCC countries
1. Injection Molding Has a Strong Growth Outlook in GCC countries
A recent report published by the Transparency Market Research suggests that the molded
plastics market in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries of the Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the
United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman is expected to reach $14.22 billion USD till
2023.
The injection molding market in GCC countries is mainly driven by the demand for raw
materials such as PP (Polypropylene), Polystyrene, HDPE (high density polyethylene), raffia, etc.
Among these downstream products, PP is the preferred resin because it is cost-effective,
resistant to heat and has electrical insulating properties.
The ME (Middle East) region represents the 33% of the global PP demand with Saudi Arabia
representing the main consuming country. What’s more, almost 85% of PP produced in the GEC
countries is exported to China, Iran, India, Pakistan and the United States.
Basically, injection molding is the process of producing a component by putting molten plastic
material under a high pressure into the mold. After the component is solidified and cooled, the
two halves of the components are removed from the mold. The benefit of injection molding is
that it is possible to produce a large volume of high-quality parts quickly and with greater
accuracy.
2. Applications of injection molded plastics:
Injection molded plastics are increasingly used in the production of automotive parts, interior
wrapping and various assembly parts. These processes are also adopted in manufacturing of
packaging parts and components as they provide a vital contribution in terms of enhancing the
prosthetic value of products.
The use of injection molding plastic products in construction is also gaining much prominence.
Molded plastic is used to make piping systems, wall boards, insulations, for roofing purposes
and more.
Moreover, health industry is too anticipated to witness the growing need for injection molded
products owing to their use in manufacture of pregnancy test devices, housings for needles,
blood sample analysis cuvettes and other medical devices. Medical devices and equipment
made from this method are lightweight, cost-effective and can be sterilized easily.
Injection molding products also find their usage in automated processes as they aid in reducing
the production costs. Furthermore, using technological advancement options such as robots to
perform different operations such as finishing, assembling and loading components into
injection molding processes can greatly augment the growth of this market.
With GCC states’ government continually making massive investments in the construction and
burgeoning packaging sector, the injection molding technology is expected to dominate the
GCC molded plastics market!
