It is heartening to share that Reliance Institute of Management, Goregaon Mumbai had taken an initiative to organize training for their Executives to raise their level of awareness and impart education to them to minimize losses of lives, property and infrastructure from disasters. The workshop was organized on 24 May 2013. The team of Saritsa Foundation imparted the education with practical training and mock drills with guidance how to integrate issues related with disaster risks reduction and sustainable development. It is pleasure to share that Executives from Chennai and Bangalore commented "We had never experienced such a good training to learn about disasters and minimizing losses by developing skills and responding with confidence".
Training program was conducted with a module of five sessions as under:
Session 1 –
An over view of Disaster Management Mechanisms in INDIA and Integrating Disaster Risk Reduction and Development- Formulating plans for knowledge Management and Capacity Building- A people centered, people led, people owned mechanisms of developing Safety culture and Resilience.
Session 2 –
Fire emergencies a holistic Approach for Preparedness - Saving lives, property and infrastructure, -Case studies of major MUMBAI FIRES.
Session 3 –
Terrorism and Bomb Blasts including chemical, biological And nuclear terror.
Session 4 –
Floods - Floods, flash flood and landslides – Science behind Floods and assessing proneness of the region to Floods and preparing to cope up with local resources, experience and expertise.
Session 5 –
Live scenarios for planning response to disasters- A Table Top Exercise for impact quantification.
