3. What is Language, Dialect and Accent?
Language: (Punjabi)
Dialect: (variation on grammatical, syntactic level)
(Nothern Punjab Dialect , Southern Punjab Dialect etc.)
Accent: (variation on pronunciation level)
(Lahori accent, Sialkoti accent)
4. At phonological level, the phenomenon of
pronunciation can be studied at two levels
◦ Segmental or structural level:
Phoneme (vowel and consonant)
◦ Supra-segmental level:
( stress pattern, intonation etc)
