 N) Application for Membership as detailed in L-1
 To design and implement educational programs
which are consistent with the major requirements
of the industry and which can give rise to
engineering personnel capable of coping-up with
the pace of the technological development.
 To create adequate facilities of updating knowledge
of professional engineers and technologists to meet
growth and developmental needs of the industry.
 To coordinate the research and developmental
activities.
 The III Cell to be located in the campus of
respective colleges. The total floor space
expected to be about 50 sq. m. Meeting room
with seating capacity of about 20 persons,
facilitates such as photocopier, projector, TV,
VCR and LCD shall be made us of.
 In view of technological advancement, economic and industrial policy recently adopted, the
industrial scenario is fast changing. Many Industries are bound to export a part of their
production and complete with multinationals. The emphasis has shifted to quality products
and requires well trained manpower to produce such products. There has been a greater need
for industries to depend on technical institutions for R&D and for supply of highly qualified
and skilled manpower. Dynamic Training, Research and development has become major
activity for all industries. This calls for institute to interact with industries for mutual benefits
with symbiotic relationship between the two systems. The ultimate aim of this relationship will
be the creation of confidence in industry by the Institute which would result industries
involving voluntarily with the Institute at various stages of its development.
 Such relationship requires, firstly, careful understanding of the industry needs such as relevant
R&D, cost effectiveness, time bound programs, technological up gradation etc. by the Institute
and, in turn, understanding the capabilities and limitations of the institute by the Industry.
 Thrust areas identified are;
 Exchange of Experts between the Institute and Industry
 Involvement of Teaching Staff in Industry
 Reorientation of curriculum
 Institute to gain Confidence of Industry
 Technological Database
 Institute’s Self-Reliance in Finances
 Continuing Education Program
 Establishment of Linkages
 Institute as a Consultant in R&D
D.1) The Concept
A typical mode of interaction between Institute and industry is presented to accomplish the desired goal of
economic development of our Institute, Industry and country.
Suggested Activities under IIIC by GEL :-
 To identify and facilitate Guest Lectures, Interactive Workshops, Conferences, Seminars,Brain Storming Sessions,
Technical Discussions etc. with members of the Industry, outside Experts, eminent personalities at regular interval.
 To conduct Industrial Training, Orientation Courses, Industrial Visits etc for faculty and students at regular intervals.
 To facilitate joint research work, consultancy involving faculty and students.
 To conduct industrial exhibitions to highlight research facilities and expertise available with the Institution.
 To facilitate for professionals from industry as visiting faculty in institutions and short or long periods deployment of
faculty from institutions to industry for gaining industrial experience and/or work on projects in industry.
 To seek and associate experts from industry in curriculum development and review.
 · To identify continuing education opportunities, short-term programs and training needs of the industry, which the
institution can provide.
 · To promote revenue generating activities for the institution like Lab Testing, Calibration, Consultancy and R&D
etc.
 · To assess periodically the scientific and technological scenario/ happenings in India and abroad in order to
translate it into action for taking up future R&D work.
Deliverables :
IIIC will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Increase in collaboration with industry
Increased rate of campus placement of students
Absorption of students by same industries providing industrial training
Increase in IRG by collaborating with industry
Increase in industrial training for students arranged by college
