words manus means
“hand” and cura means
“care”.
6. • Remove old nail polish witha cotton withacetone.
• Talk tothe client withthe bestnail shapesuitedtoher.
• Shapethenailsand gritfile toremoveor perfect thefree
edge (never sawbackand forth acrossthefree edge asit
can disruptthe nailplate layers and lead tosplittingand
peeling.
• To seal the free edge, usethe3-waybuffer: blacktorefine,
whiteto semi-shineand gray tofinish. Thiswill sealthe
layers ofthe free edge tofurtherprevent splittingor
peeling.
7. • Immerse the nails inthe soaking dish for no more than 3
minutes.Soakingfor more than 3 minutes willfully
saturate the nailplate, causingit to swell. Once the
plate returns to its normal shape, any polish that is
applied willcrackand chip.
• Remove the fingers from the soaking dish, apply cuticle
remover using a cotton and holding the orangewood
stickor metal cuticle pusher much as you woulda
pencil,proceed to 'push' the invisiblecuticleskin from
the nail plate surface back towardthe 'live' tissue.
8. • Holding thecuticle nippers/scissorsin one hand,nip orclip
anyloose 'tags' of skinthat youwere unableto removewith
thecuticle pusheror the curette. NEVER cut liveskin!
• Usingtheorangewood stickor the curved end of the metal
cuticle pusher,clean under thefree edge of thenail plate.
• Exfoliate thehandsbydispensinga smallamountof
sloughinglotioninto the palm of one hand. Distributethe
lotionevenly between yourpalms,and apply witha gentle
'massaging' action to the clients handand fingers.
9. • If the nail plate surface is ridged or corrugated or otherwise
'uneven', you may wish to smooth the surface using the 3-way
buffer.
• After all previous procedureshave been completed,wash, rinse
and dry your hands/nails to removeall surface traces of nail
filings, lotions or oils. Enamel will not successfully adhere to an
oily surface.
• Begin your polish application by applying 1 thin base coat.
• Allow 1 minute for the base coat to dry, then apply 2 thin coats
of enamel,allowing 1 minute betweencoatings, then proceed
with a thin application of top coat.
