Inspire aspir ee-poster2010
1. Welcome to your Olympic and Paralympic Values ePoster
The Olympic and Paralympic games take place in London in 2012. INSPIRE>ASPIRE is about self discovery and
personal development, helping you to find the inspiration to develop aspirations for your life. Completing this
activity will help you to learn about the values of the Olympic movement, to learn some new things about
yourself, about others and about the world. You can use it to share what you think is important in life and
what inspires you about the Olympic and Paralympic games. Most importantly, it gives you the chance to think
about the values and qualities you’ll need to make a success of your future.
How to complete your poster...
Activity |01-06| Olympic and Paralympic Values
Each of the Olympic and Paralympic values has a “qualities cloud”. Choose one quality which best describes
you and write a short statement in the “I am good at” box to explain your choice. Choose one quality which
least describes you and write a short statement in the “I need to work on” box to explain your choice.
TIP: Use the website to explore the meaning of values and qualities and don’t forget to ask for
help if you are still not sure what to do.
Activity | 07| Inspiration: Faster, Higher, Stronger.
We can get inspiration from the achievements and actions of others that can help show us how to make a
success of our own lives. Many sports people become role models because of what they achieve and how they
achieve it. They have developed the personal qualities required for success. For this activity choose any
Olympian or Paralympian, past or present. How do they live up to the Olympic and Paralympic values? Why
do you find them inspiring? What is it about this person that you admire? Do they have ideals, values or
characteristics that you would like to live up to? Can you tell us why you think they have achieved success? In
the final section select some quotations you find inspiring and tell us why.
TIP: Remember it is not just about writing. You could include drawings or pictures to get
across what you want to say. Don’t’ forget you can use the resources on the website to help
you choose your inspirational figure and find out all about them.
Activity | 08| Aspiration: Lighting the Torch
By completing this poster you have learned some new things about yourself, about others and about the
world. You might have discovered some things that really matter to you. By developing your own personal
action plan you can make decisions and act on them so you can begin to take charge of your own future. Think
carefully about each of the questions (a-e) and answer as best as you can. You can use the questions in the box
as a starting point but don’t feel you must answer them all. Don’t rush, reflect first before you write and write
from the heart!
TIP: It’s not just about writing. You can use pictures or drawings to get across what you want
to say. We have put in some text boxes to get you started

4. My Olympic hero is Usain Bolt because he has an association that helps children in Africa and he have some things in
common with me: dancing, music, reggae, football,… . He is a Jamaican sprinter and a five-time World and three-time
Olympic gold medalist. He is the world record and Olympic record holder in the 100 metres, the 200 metres and (along
with his teammates) the 4×100 metres relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in these three events, and is one of only
seven athletes (along with Valerie Adams, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jacques Freitag, Yelena Isinbayeva, Jana Pittman,
Dani Samuels) to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event.
Bolt expresses a love for dancing and his character is frequently described as laid-back and relaxed. Bolt's Jamaican track
and field idols include Herb McKenley and former Jamaican 100 m 200 m world record holder, Don Quarrie. Michael
Johnson, the former 200 m world and Olympic record holder, is also held in high esteem by Bolt. The first sport to interest
him was cricket and he said if he was not a sprinter he would be a fast bowler instead.
Bolt has also expressed his love for football and is a fan of Manchester United as well as Real Madrid. Bolt has also
declared he is a fan of Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. Following a race in Manchester, he met the team at their training
ground and offered Portuguese national Cristiano Ronaldo some sprinting advice. Bolt was a special guest of Manchester
United at the 2011 UEFA Champions League final in London, where he stated he'd like to play for them after he retires.
In 2010, he also revealed his fondness of music, when he played a reggae DJ set to a crowd in Paris.
My favorite inspiring quotations are:
A light heart lives long.
William Shakespeare
The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.
Paul Valery
Imagination is more important than knowledge.
Albert Einstein
5. I want to be the kind of person that help people and save lives. I want to be a doctor to treat sick people, give them hope
and save them. I dream in colors but in the real live, in the darkest places, I see the world in black and white and I want to
change that.
I think that I am really good dancer, actress and singer. I really like arts and sciences. In arts, I am comfortable and I live
what I am doing but in sciences, I just save lives and, I would like to do it but I like to express myself. I grow up
surrounded of Arts and dreams and my heart beats for arts.
I would like to be a successful women and I would like to have a big family: me and my two daughters and my sun. My
friends and family say that I know how to do housekeeping and teach someone so that would be precious to the future
so I can teach my daughters and sun and do the housekeeping and keep my home clean, save and lovely.
I want to save people, give hope to children, make people laugh and cry with my theatre and I want to raise my
daughters and my son who they can be a good person.
I am going to achieve my goals giving the best of me to be the best of what I am going to do. I would be true, honest and
friendly but I will fight for the achievement of my goals.
