Colorado Springs Conservatory presents “An Evening of Cabaret”
The Colorado Springs Conservatory ends the summer with a cabaret performance
featuring nationally renowned artists.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 29, 2016 – The Colorado Springs Conservatory
(CSC) will present “An Evening of Cabaret” at 7 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 19, at the Colorado
Springs Conservatory, 415 Sahwatch Street, 80903.
An Evening of Cabaret will feature guest artists Linda Purl (vocalist), Rachelle Fleming
(vocalist), and Tedd Firth (pianist). It is a one-night-only event open to all members of
the community.
LINDA PURL – Purl has performed on the national and global levels as a stage and
television actress and vocalist. Her most notable appearances are in “Happy Days,”
“Matlock,” “The Office,” “Dinner with Friends,” “Getting and Spending,” and “Hallelujah,
Hallelujah!” When she is not busy as the Founding Director of the California
International Theatre Festival, Purl tours with her solo concert Midnight Caravan.
RACHELLE FLEMING – Fleming’s career has taken her from the world of theatre to
opera houses across the nation. Currently she is a full-time faculty member at the
Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she teaches voice and
American musical theatre history. Fleming has performed with the American Pops
Orchestra, the National Broadway Chorus, jazz pianist Shelly Berg, and the Florida Lakes
Symphony Orchestra.
TEDD FIRTH – Firth is a musical director, pianist, and arranger based in New York.
His work has been performed by many major American symphony orchestras; he has
performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Blue Note. Some
notable artists Firth has worked with include: Bernadette Peters, Faith Prince, Brian
Stokes Mitchell, Barbara Cook, Elaine Page, and Tom Wopat.

ABOUT AN EVENING OF CABARET
A cabaret performance consists of vocal and instrumental music, typically held in a
nightclub, restaurant, or pub. Today cabaret performances often feature musical genres
such as American pops, musical theatre, and jazz.

Since 1994, CSC has served thousands of students from diverse socioeconomic
backgrounds and skill levels in the Pikes Peak Region. Students engage in a wide variety
of learning experiences in instrumental music, vocals, musical theater, dramatic studies,
dance, recording arts, composition, music theory, humanities, piano studies, jazz, opera,
film scoring and more.
More than 40 distinguished mentors and guest artists grace the halls of the
Conservatory; these performing artists have pedigrees from the nation’s leading colleges,
universities and conservatories. From the White House and Carnegie Hall to capital
cities throughout the world, from dimly lit jazz clubs to the lights on
Broadway, CSC’s multifaceted and creative mentors share their gift for teaching and a
deep passion for the arts with hundreds of students who have attended the Conservatory
during our 22-year history.
One-hundred percent of students who participate in the CORE after-school program
attend colleges, universities and conservatories of their choice, often with significant
scholarships. Many alumni pursue careers in the arts, go on to Broadway and off-
Broadway, win Tony awards, join national touring companies and arts organizations.
Others excel in a wide range of professions including technology, medicine and the
humanities.
