her Life was held on Saturday, November
24, 2012, with both staff and students in
attendance. She will be missed.

Jamaica Internship Ascension National Center for
Ceremony – October 19, 2012 Competency Testing
With smiles adorning, eyes with tears, The NCCT is an independent certifying
and cheers abounding, the 4/23/2012 organization that validates competencies in
starting classes took part in the Medical Assisting skills, Phlebotomy, ECG,
internship ascension ceremony. and Insurance Billing/Coding. To become
certified, you must meet the eligibility
requirements and pass the exam for that area
of expertise.
All of the information you will need is
located on their website:

The website contains the applications, study
guide (outline), and materials needed to
contact the NCCT and set up your test.
Jamaica Nursing Assistants Once or twice a month, the NCCT test is
held here at the Jamaica campus (Brooklyn
practice their skills campus also holds the same exams).
Routine tasks, such as assisting with
ambulation, range of motion exercises,
patient grooming, and taking vital
signs help to provide much needed
care to a patient in need. Nursing
Assistants are a critical member of a
patient’s healthcare team.

BREAST CANCER WALK—JAMAICA STUDENT OF THE WEEK CRITERIA

AWARENESS SUCCESS! HEALTHY LIVING CLUB CORNER
Students of the 8/13/12 start date put 10 INEXPENSIVE HEALTHY SNACKS
on a fantastic presentation which #1 - Pumpkin seeds $0.27 (1/2 ounce)
brought awareness to Domestic #2 - Plain popcorn $0.34 (1 cup)

“I am in Sanjay [Paul]'s Career Development class this module. We were to post our resume
on 2 job boards. Yesterday I posted my resume on Careerbuilder.com for a Medicare Billing
position in Denver, CO. Within 2 hours of posting my resume, I had heard back from the
recruiter wanting an updated resume and to post my Medicare experience, as it is required for
the position. I was very excited to have them respond back to me so quickly. I would like to
send a big THANK YOU to Sanjay for all he does in his class.”

“The power of a good resume should never be underestimated!! I posted my resume on Career
Builder.com, and a Billing and Coding firm plucked my resume from the site and called me for
an interview for a billing position. I went for the interview the next day (a Friday) and before I
left the office they were giving me a coding test for a coding job. Basically, I was given the
choice, once we talked for a bit, to pick between a billing job or a coding job! When I checked
my email upon arriving home they were asking for my references. By Wednesday, they made
me a job offer for $1.00 more an hour than they committed to in the interview! All 3 of my
references contacted them promptly and gave sparkling reviews of my work ethic, abilities, and
character. I start the job tomorrow! To cap it off, I took the CPC certification exam on
Saturday and by the end of the week I plan to be certified …This is one of the best things I have
ever done for myself!!! I'm proud of me, too!! My confidence is coming back… Thank you
