1. WRITING - PAPER 2
You´ll be expected to:
- Answer the questions completely and make some original points.
- Use a wide range of grammatical structures with almost no mistakes.
- Use a wide range of vocabulary appropriately.
- Use clear paragraphs with well-organized ideas.
- Use a variety of appropriate connecting words.
- Use the correct style for this type of writing throughout.

4. STORY
You may be given the first or last sentence
have:
A story should have
- a good plot, with a dramatic, funny or unexpected ending.
- linking words and time markers to show the order of events.
- correct use of narrative tenses.
A story should have three or four paragraphs and include the following four stages:
- background information
- first events and/or problem
- later actions or results
- final outcome
8. REPORTS
When writing a report:
- you should use formal English
- you should give your report a title
- you should have an introduction giving the background to your report
- you can use headings and numbered points
- you may include recommendations at the end

10. ARTICLE
A good article should have:
- a title. You have to make this up. It should be interesting and catch the reader’s attention.
- an introductory paragraph linked to the title. This should make the reader interested in the topic.
One way to do this is to begin with a question.
- one (or two) central paragraph/s that develop your main points.
- a final paragraph that summarises the main points and gives your opinion.
13. ESSAY
You may have to write an essay in which you present an argument. One way to do this is to
present both sides of the argument, and then say which you agree with.
TIP:
TIP Before you begin writing, decide on your own opinion. Put the ideas you agree with in
paragraph 3, so they support your conclusion
