The Rio+20 conference aimed to balance economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection. It featured negotiations between member states to create an official declaration within the UN, as well as participation from civil society in semi-official spaces and autonomous organizing. The conference sought to set an agenda to monitor critical social and environmental factors, and measure progress towards sustainable development, with the goal of furthering these discussions at the next major conference in 2015.

6. AND WHAT DO WE WANT TO BUILD?
HUMAN RIGHTS: their guarantee is the declared objective of our civilization.
They express the most widely accepted and reiterated international agreements.
ENVIRONMENTAL LIMITS: they are a fact of nature. Even with great efficiency
gains, they are being exceeded, jeopardizing the environment we depend on.
