Plate No. 16: Tint, Shade and Tone Score:
Materials: Primary and Neutral Acrylic Paint Colors, Brush, Mixing Plate, Water Holder, Flat Brush, HB Pencil, Eraser, Ruler Date Submitted:
Plate no. 17: Chart of Painting Techniques
There are many techniques in painting, however these three Basic Techniques are the most common and applicable to
watercolor, acrylic and oil medium. They are Wet on Dry, Dry on Dry and Wet on Wet.
Materials: Acrylic Paint, Flat, Top Round and Pointed Brushes, Water, HB Pencil, Ruler and Eraser
Procedure:
 Create the proper margin system for a landscape orientation plate.
 Divide the area into 3 columns measuring 3.6 in x 7.5 in by drawing a line; on the lower area, create a line with a measurement of
0.50 in
 On the 0.50 in space below, label each column into the following: 1st Column WET ON DRY, 2nd Column will be Dry on Dry and
3rd Column Wet on Wet
 Lightly sketch the subject for each painting and follow the technique for each column.
 Note: Wet on Dry has a near balance of water on brush and pigment on the paper; You may change the color
but the pattern of design must be the same
Dry on Dry uses little to no water on the acrylic paint on paper thus giving a more rough texture; Paint the
background first with one solid color and let dry; Sketch and paint the tree on the panel with no water at all to
create texture, use the top round and flat brushes to achieve the rough look
Wet on Wet uses a lot of water on brush and little pigment to create a more diffused
tonal coloration on paper this will give a more smooth and aerial look. Lightly wet your paper with water and
using either your pointed or top round brushes that are loaded with water and little pigment create splotches of color
within the area. Be careful not to wet the paper too much as the paper we are using is not capable at holding too much
liquid and may rip. Just make sure you get the intended effect

PLATE NO. 17: Chart of Painting Techniques SCORE:
Materials: Acrylic Paint, Flat, Top Round and Pointed Brushes, Water, HB Pencil, Ruler and Eraser DATE SUBMITTED:
PLATE 18 A Pencil and Ink A Using Brush
PLATE 19 B Pencil and Ink B Using Tech Pens
The inker (sometimes credited as the finisher or embellisher or tracer) is one of the two line artists in traditional
comic book production. The penciller creates the initial drawing or sketch. Using a pen or a brush, the inker adds
depth and shading to give the image more definition.
Orientation: Portrait
Plate 18 Materials: Tracing Paper 82 gsm, Pencil, Eraser, Ruler, Masking Tape, Black Acrylic Paint,
Pointer Brushes, Water and water container, mixing plate
Plate 19 Materials: Tracing Paper 82 gsm, Pencil, Eraser, Ruler, Different Tech pen and Black
Marker, Scratch paper
Procedure:
1) Margin according to our portrait oriented plate.
2) Follow the steps in drawing Robin with the correct measurements using pencils. Erase all guide lines and unnecessary
lines or dirt in your pencil work
3) Cut the tracing paper in accordance to the size of your working area (8 x 10.5 in) before taping it on top of plate.
4) Depending on what plate your are working on, trace the lines of that you made with your drawing on the tracing paper.
Rule of the thumb: Play with the Quality of Lines (Thick and Thin)
5) Do not color your work. Just present a black and white output.
* For Plate 19 put a scratch paper below the tracing paper when you apply the black ink from the black marker
Follow the steps in drawing Robin but consider the following measurements:
Head to Toe is 10 inches (head size is 5.5 in with hair and body 4.5 in)
Cape from one tip to the other is 7 inches
Effective Inking Tips
• A clean ang clear outline of your
pencil will go a long long way in
inking.
• Do not shade the black areas (hair and
mask) with your pencil, just mark them
with an “X” indicating when you ink
them they will need to be painted
black.
• Always play with the quality of lines.
This is where the brush has an
advantage than a technical pen.
However, technical pen is more
forgiving in inking than brushes.
• In advance inking, there are strokes
that can be added for lines but this will
not be used for these plates
Follow the steps in drawing Robin but consider the following measurements:
Head to Toe is 10 inches (head size is 5.5 in with hair and body 4.5 in)
Body width without a hands is set at 3 inches; with arms 1.5 in
Cape from one tip to the other is 7 inches
Plate 20: Coloring an Inked Work
color renditions of inked worked usually uses water base mediums or highlighter pens. But a few years back in
the late 90s and early 2000s, computers have been used in color rendering after the inked work is scanned.
Recent years, all work from line art, to detailing and coloring are done in computer.
Orientation: Portrait
Materials: Photocopy of Robin, Acrylic Paints,
Brush, Water and Water container and glue
Procedure:
 Margin your plate in portrait orientation
 Photocopy your inked work on either Plate 18
or 19 and cut perfectly on your working area
 Using your acrylic painst follow the color
scheme of Robin from the based art.
CREATIVE OUTPUTS
ART ILLUSTRATIONS
CREATIVE OUTPUT 3 ART ILLUSTRATION
 Landscape or Portrait Orientation
 Create an original artwork that will
combine pencil, brush black inking and
color; Use the proper margin system
based on your chosen orientation
 Indicate your materials accordingly in the
details below your artwork together with
the Creative Output Number and Title,
Score and Date Submitted.
CREATIVE OUTPUT 4 3-PANEL COMIC STRIP
 Landscape Orientation
 Create a 3 panel comic strip; Each panel box
must measure 3 x 3 inches with a space of 0.5
in between two boxes.
 Do a 3 sequence of a Knock Knock Joke or Hugot
Line or Pick – Up Line
 Use only your technical pens in inking your work.
Note: Paint your work first before inking it with
your tech pens so as to avoid smudging of ink.
 Indicate your materials accordingly in the details
below your artwork together with the Creative
Output Number and Title, Score and Date

  • 4. Plate no. 17: Chart of Painting Techniques There are many techniques in painting, however these three Basic Techniques are the most common and applicable to watercolor, acrylic and oil medium. They are Wet on Dry, Dry on Dry and Wet on Wet. Materials: Acrylic Paint, Flat, Top Round and Pointed Brushes, Water, HB Pencil, Ruler and Eraser Procedure:  Create the proper margin system for a landscape orientation plate.  Divide the area into 3 columns measuring 3.6 in x 7.5 in by drawing a line; on the lower area, create a line with a measurement of 0.50 in  On the 0.50 in space below, label each column into the following: 1st Column WET ON DRY, 2nd Column will be Dry on Dry and 3rd Column Wet on Wet  Lightly sketch the subject for each painting and follow the technique for each column.  Note: Wet on Dry has a near balance of water on brush and pigment on the paper; You may change the color but the pattern of design must be the same Dry on Dry uses little to no water on the acrylic paint on paper thus giving a more rough texture; Paint the background first with one solid color and let dry; Sketch and paint the tree on the panel with no water at all to create texture, use the top round and flat brushes to achieve the rough look Wet on Wet uses a lot of water on brush and little pigment to create a more diffused tonal coloration on paper this will give a more smooth and aerial look. Lightly wet your paper with water and using either your pointed or top round brushes that are loaded with water and little pigment create splotches of color within the area. Be careful not to wet the paper too much as the paper we are using is not capable at holding too much liquid and may rip. Just make sure you get the intended effect
  • 5. Wet on Dry Dry on Dry Wet on Wet 3.6 in 7.0 in 0.50 in PLATE NO. 17: Chart of Painting Techniques SCORE: Materials: Acrylic Paint, Flat, Top Round and Pointed Brushes, Water, HB Pencil, Ruler and Eraser DATE SUBMITTED:
  • 6. PLATE 18 A Pencil and Ink A Using Brush PLATE 19 B Pencil and Ink B Using Tech Pens The inker (sometimes credited as the finisher or embellisher or tracer) is one of the two line artists in traditional comic book production. The penciller creates the initial drawing or sketch. Using a pen or a brush, the inker adds depth and shading to give the image more definition. Orientation: Portrait Plate 18 Materials: Tracing Paper 82 gsm, Pencil, Eraser, Ruler, Masking Tape, Black Acrylic Paint, Pointer Brushes, Water and water container, mixing plate Plate 19 Materials: Tracing Paper 82 gsm, Pencil, Eraser, Ruler, Different Tech pen and Black Marker, Scratch paper Procedure: 1) Margin according to our portrait oriented plate. 2) Follow the steps in drawing Robin with the correct measurements using pencils. Erase all guide lines and unnecessary lines or dirt in your pencil work 3) Cut the tracing paper in accordance to the size of your working area (8 x 10.5 in) before taping it on top of plate. 4) Depending on what plate your are working on, trace the lines of that you made with your drawing on the tracing paper. Rule of the thumb: Play with the Quality of Lines (Thick and Thin) 5) Do not color your work. Just present a black and white output. * For Plate 19 put a scratch paper below the tracing paper when you apply the black ink from the black marker
  • 7. Follow the steps in drawing Robin but consider the following measurements: Head to Toe is 10 inches (head size is 5.5 in with hair and body 4.5 in) Cape from one tip to the other is 7 inches
  • 8. Effective Inking Tips • A clean ang clear outline of your pencil will go a long long way in inking. • Do not shade the black areas (hair and mask) with your pencil, just mark them with an “X” indicating when you ink them they will need to be painted black. • Always play with the quality of lines. This is where the brush has an advantage than a technical pen. However, technical pen is more forgiving in inking than brushes. • In advance inking, there are strokes that can be added for lines but this will not be used for these plates Follow the steps in drawing Robin but consider the following measurements: Head to Toe is 10 inches (head size is 5.5 in with hair and body 4.5 in) Body width without a hands is set at 3 inches; with arms 1.5 in Cape from one tip to the other is 7 inches
  • 9. Plate 20: Coloring an Inked Work color renditions of inked worked usually uses water base mediums or highlighter pens. But a few years back in the late 90s and early 2000s, computers have been used in color rendering after the inked work is scanned. Recent years, all work from line art, to detailing and coloring are done in computer. Orientation: Portrait Materials: Photocopy of Robin, Acrylic Paints, Brush, Water and Water container and glue Procedure:  Margin your plate in portrait orientation  Photocopy your inked work on either Plate 18 or 19 and cut perfectly on your working area  Using your acrylic painst follow the color scheme of Robin from the based art.
