2. RECOUNT TEXT
Recount text is a text that telling the
reader about one story, action or activity.
Its goal is to entertaining or informing the
reader (teks yang menceritakan sebuah
cerita, aksi ataupun aktifitas. Tujuan
recount text adalah untuk menghibur atau
menginformasikan pembaca.)

3. Kinds of Recount text:
1. Personal Recount – Yaitu menceritakan
tentang pengalaman pribadi penulis.
2.Factual Recount - Yaitu laporan peristiwa
yang benar-benar terjadi, seperti laporan
percobaan ilmu pengetahuan, laporan
kepolisian.
3. Imaginative - Yaitu membuat cerita
imaginative lalu menuliskan peristiwa atau
kejadian yang telah terjadi.

4. Ciri-Ciri Recount Text:
- Use Past Tense.
Example: We went to beach, I was happy, etc.
- Use Conjunction dan Time Connectives untuk
mengurutkan peristiwa atau kejadian.
Example: and, but, the, aftar that, etc.
- Use Adverbs dan Adverbial Phrase for explain
place, time and step.
Example: yesterday, at my house, slowly, etc.
- Use Action Verbs.
Example: went, slept, run, brought, etc.

5. Generic Structure of Recount Text:
Orientation tells who was involved, what happened, where the
events took place, and when it happened.
Example: “Last week, my friend and i went to Jogja. We had so
much fun there.”
Events tell what happened and in what sequence.
Seperti: “In the first day… . And in the next day… . And in the last
day… .”
Example: “First, we visited Parangtritis beach. The sun shone
brightly and the scenery was very beautiful there. We felt the wind
blew across to us. Second, we visited Gembira Loka Zoo.”
Re-orientation consists of optional-closure of events/ending.
Example: “For me, that was a beautiful day. we really enjoyed
it, and I hope I could visit Jogja again.”

6. Example of Recount Text:
Last week I went to Mount Bromo. I stayed at my
friend's house in Probolinggo, East Java. The house
has a big garden with colorful flowers and a small
pool.
In the morning, my friend and I saw Mount Batok.
The scenery was very beautiful. We rode on
horseback. It was scary, but it was fun. Then, we
went to get a closer look at the mountain. We took
pictures of the beautiful scanery there. After that, we
took a rest and had lunch under a big tree. Before
we got home, we went to the zoo at Wonokromo.
We went home in the afternoon.
We were very tired. However, I think it was really fun
to have a holiday like this. I hope my next holiday will
be more intersting.

7. NARRATIVE TEXT
Narrative text is an imaginative story to entertain people.
A narrative text is a text amuse, entertain and deal with actual or
vicarious experience in different ways. Narrative deal with
problematic events which lead to a crisis or turning point of some
kind, which in turn finds a resolution.
The narrative text short story is telling of a story or an
account of a sequence of events. One of the four traditional forms
of composition (along with description, exposition, and
persuasion). Narration differs from exposition, which can also
relate a sequence of events, in that narration need not be factual
and may be written from the perspective of a character in the
text.

8. Grammar Used dalam Narrative Text:
Menggunakan tenses "Past", baik
simple, past perfect, past
continuous, past perfect
continuous, atau bisa saja past future
continuous.

9. Generic Structure of Narrative Text:
Orientation: It is about the opening paragraph where the
characters of the story are introduced. Sets the scene: where and
when the story happened and introduces the participants of the
story: who and what is involved in the story.
Complication: Where the problems in the story developed. Tells
the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis (climax) of
the main participants.
Resolution : Where the problems in the story is solved. The
problem (the crisis) is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a
sad (tragic) ending
Re-orientation/Coda: This is a closing remark to the story and it is
optional.Itconsists of a moral lesson, advice or teaching from
the writer.

10. Example of Narrative Text:
The Legend of Salatiga
Many years ago there was a sunan who was very honest. He
taught about religion and the meaning of life. His name is
Sunan Kalijogo. He adventured to spread his lesson. One day,
he arrived in a village. He went to the village chief‟s house.
Sunan Kalijogo didn‟t say his real name and he asked for a job.
The chief‟s wife said that he could help to cut grass for horses.
Sunan Kalijogo liked to live simply. Soon after that, The chief
realized that the man was Sunan Kalijogo. The chief was very
surprised. Then, he decided to follow the Sunan‟s lesson. To
follow the Sunan lesson, he had to leave all his properties, but
his wife didn‟t agree. So, his wife brought jewelery in a bamboo.
When they were taking a rest in a village, there was a robber.
He took all the things from the Chief‟s wife. Sunan said that
this place would be busy and full of people. He gave the place
a name. The name was Salahtiga, because in this place there
were three wrong people. There were the chief, his wife and
the robber who like to collect properties. And now, the place is
called Salatiga.

11. PROCEDURE TEXT
Procedure is a text that show a process in
order. Its social function is to describe how something
is completely done through a sequence of series.
The purpose procedural text is to tell the reader
how to do or make something. The information is
presented in a logical sequence of events which is
broken up into small sequenced steps. These texts
are usually written in the present tense. The most
common example of a procedural text is
a recipe.

· Using imperative sentence
· Using Simple Present Tense

13. Generic Structure of Procedure:
1. Goal: showing the purpose
2. Material: Telling the needed

14. Example of Procedure Text:
How to Make Fried Banana
Ingredients:
-1 ripe blackskinned plantain
or 4 small finger
banana
-1 egg
-1 tsp. sugar
-6 Tbs. flour
-water
-a pinch of salt
vegetable oil for
deep frying
Steps / Instruction :
-Place flour in a deep mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle of
the flour, and add egg, sugar and salt. Add water little by little.
Whisk vigorously until batter is evenly smooth for coating and
not too thin. If it is too thin, add more flour.
-Peel plantain or banana and cut in half lengthwise and then
cut again with 4-inch width. Dip into batter to coat generously.
-Heat oil in a wok or deep fryer until moderately hot. Place
coated plantain or banana in the wok or deep fryer and fry
slowly until golden brown and crispy. This usually take
approximately 10-15 minutes. Remove bananas from oil, drain
on paper napkins and dry well.
-Serve while still warm

15. DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Descriptive text is a text which says what a
person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and
reveal a particular person, place, or thing.
Jadi, bisa dikatakan bahwa descriptive text ini
adalah teks yang menjelaskan tentang seperti apakah
orang atau suatu benda dideskripsikan, baik bentuknya,
sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain.

16. Generic Structure Descriptive Text:
- Identification (identifikasi) adalah
pendahuluan , berupa gambaran umum
tentang suatu topik.
- Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi
ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki
benda, tempat, atau orang yang
dideskripsikan.

17. Ciri-ciri Descriptive Text :
- Used simple present tense
- Used attribute verb (to be)
- Hanya fokus pada satu objek tersebut.

News item is a text which informs readers about
events of the day. The events are considered
newsworthy or important.

memberitakan kepada pembaca, pendengar atau
penonton tentang peristiwa-peristiwa atau kejadiankejadian yang dipandang penting atau layak diberitakan.

20. Generic Structure of News Item:
-Main Events: Kejadian utama yang pantas dijadikan
berita. Bagian yang menceritakan atau berisi berita
tentang peristiwa atau kejadian inti yang biasanya
dalam bentuk ringkasan atau Summary.
-Elaboration: Penjelasan mengenai latar belakang
adanya peristiwa tersebut; orang-orang yang terlibat
dalam peristiwa tersebut; tempat peristiwa terjadi; dan
lain-lain (5W+1H)
-Resource of Information [Source]: Sumber berita;
komentar para saksi; pendapat para ahli; dan lain-lain.

21. Ciri-Ciri News Item:
-Sering menggunakan action verbs
-Dominan menggunakan saying verbs
-Banyak menggunakan adverb of time, adverb of place, adverb
of manner.
-Informasi singkat tertuang dalam headline
-Memfokuskan pada kejadian
-Menggunakan material proces
Catatan :
Action verb adalah kata kerja yang menunjukan aktifitas.
Saying verb seperti "diberitakan, dikatakan, dikutip,
mengatakan, memberitakan, mengutip".
